Coffee cups and murder in a Happiness Battle with Lee El
by tccolb
Clockwise: Lee El, Jin Seo-yeon, Woo Jung-won, Park Hyo-joo, Cha Ye-ryun
The first poster has arrived for ENA’s upcoming suspense-thriller, titled Happiness Battle, which stars a charismatic ensemble including Lee El (My Liberation Notes), Jin Seo-yeon (One the Woman), Cha Ye-ryun (Gold Mask), Park Hyo-joo (Now We Are Breaking Up), and Woo Jung-won (Under the Queen’s Umbrella).
Adapted from a novel by the same title, the story has our five playing a group of friends, who are also fellow moms. But beneath the surface, there is division among the group, fueled by jealousy and fierce competition. For each of the women, it boils down to who lives the “happier” life and striving to secure that happiness, even if means stepping on others in the process.
Initially, their battle had manifested through each person’s show-and-tell on social media. But things take a very serious turn when one of their group suddenly dies under mysterious circumstances. A bigger war thus unfolds as one among the group wants to discover the truth, while another seeks to hide it.
The new poster leans into the murder mystery aspect of the story, asking the question of whodunit in the tagline. With their faces concealed, it’s hard to tell yet who is who. But there are little clues suggested by the styling of their hands and arms, as well as in their coffee and phones.
Production for the drama is being led by PD Kim Yoon-chul (The Witch Is Alive, Woman of Dignity) with scripts penned by the original author Joo Young-ha. ENA’s Happiness Battle is slated to premiere next month on May 31, in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.

The subject matter sounds hideous to me. I like Lee El though.

I'd concur, though all the actresses are great in other dramas. I'm so sick of watching dramas with women hating each other, and this sounds like another where these women's talents will be wasted.

Sounds pretty interesting. Can it be better than the other women-centric drama I just read about? XD
Also wonder if this drama will be available internationally or not. Current woes.

I don't feel good about this at all. It's similar to my worst drama last year and I don't want another repetition. And then there's murder.

Love the cast. Skeptical about the story.
