Esom, Ahn Jae-hong

  • Esom (Taxi Driver) and Ahn Jae-hong (Kingdom 2) are being paired for a new TVING series called LTNS (working title), which stands for Long Time No Sex. The comedy will be written and directed by filmmakers Im Dae-hyung (Moonlit Winter) and Jeon Go-woon (Persona). Although this will be Esom and Ahn’s first drama together, the two have worked together on a few movies in the past, the last being Ahn’s own short film High Surf Expected. [News1]

  • New stills have dropped for KBS’s Run Into You, featuring our time-locked two leads, Kim Dong-wook (King of Pigs) and Jin Ki-joo (Showtime Begins). The fantasy is now just over a month away, premiering on May 1, with scripts by Baek So-yeon (Tale of Nokdu) and directing helmed by PD Kang Soo-yeon (Tale of Nokdu, Ghost Detective) and PD Lee Woong-hee. [News1 (1), (2)]
  • We also got stills from JTBC’s King the Land, this time showcasing hotelier Yoon-ah (Big Mouth). Also starring Junho (The Red Sleeve Cuff), the rom-com is expected to launch this June and will be available on Netflix. With writing by Choi Rom, PD Im Hyun-wook (Reflection of You) is at the helm. • It’s been seven (!) years since Jo Jin-woong’s (Entourage, Signal) last drama and we’ll be seeing him soon on April 26, with JTBC’s The Good Bad Mother, which is also releasing on Netflix. Jo’s character falls in love with pig farmer Ra Mi-ran (Dr. Park’s Clinic), becoming her husband and Lee Do-hyun’s (The Glory) father; however, it’s not yet clear if this is past or present, or if he is Lee’s step-dad versus biological father. • TVING announced a new drama called Running Mate, lining up a fresh-faced cast, including Yoon Hyun-soo (Seasons of Blossom), Lee Jung-shik (Tracer), Choi Woo-sung (Melancholia), and Hong Hwa-yeon (Mental Coach Jegal) among others. Aiming to air in 2024, the youth drama already has some buzz with production being led by Parasite’s co-screenwriter Han Jin-won. [MBC]

  • A new poster has come out for tvN’s Family, showcasing the double life of Jang Hyuk (Red Heart), caught between groceries with wife Jang Nara (Sell Your Haunted House) and his secret agent work under boss Chae Jung-ahn (King of Pigs). The action-comedy will be coming to our screens on April 17 and will be releasing on Disney+. [News1]
  • Over on Channel A, a second teaser was released for Queen of the Mask, focusing again on the drama’s themes. But we do get a better look at our characters in the new batch of posters, along with our first look at the male leads. The revenge drama stars Kim Sun-ah (The Empire), Oh Yoon-ah (Once Again), Shin Eun-jung (Dr. Park’s Clinic), and Yoo Sun (Eve) in addition to Oh Ji-ho (No Second Chances), Lee Jung-jin (The King: Eternal Monarch), and Shin Ji-hoon (Secret Royal Inspector and Joy). "LTNS" in kdramaland - no kidding!

When discussing a show with a cast member from Signal, you just had to raise the question of whether something is present of past. Deliberate?

LOL, I wish it was deliberate but I sadly didn't notice while writing it.

I am also sad to say, that it looks like he is bio dad from the past... I was hoping he would be a present day new husband, oh well.

It's a shame that King The Land's plot doesn't interest me, because Yoona is growing and growing as an actress and I'm always intrigued by what she'll do next! I've had more of an active eye on her since Exit - no, actually, probably since the first teasers for The K2 - and I feel like she's really gonna blow us away soon.

1 - TVING is making the most of their OTT identity and its loose censorship, nice. I've got some glimpses of their original shows and I was pretty impressed, it's not that far off from k-movies in all their unhinged glory)))

2 - this better to be good.

6 - Disney+? What a disrespect to the actors!
