First script reading for tvN’s One Hit Scandal with Jeon Do-yeon and Jung Kyung-ho
by tccolb
The first script reading stills have been released for tvN’s One Hit Scandal and it’s a nice change to see Jeon Do-yeon (Human Disqualification) taking on a light rom-com after her more serious performances in recent projects. Jung Kyung-ho (Hospital Playlist 2) has always been a win for me as well and I’m excited to see how the two are paired in this story.
Centered around the world of private education, Nam Haeng-sun (Jeon Do-yeon) is a former national athlete who is belatedly jumping into the ins and outs of the education sphere. Even in the face of obstacles, though, she stands by her decisions with pride. Having trained as an athlete, her experiences have taught her to trust in her strengths and be confident in her abilities.
That confidence is shared by Choi Chi-yeol (Jung Kyung-ho) as well, who enjoys a successful career as a math instructor. Although he tends to be sensitive and prickly in personality, he tries not to let things interfere with his work and he’s a true professional in his job.
In supporting roles, Shin Jae-ha (My Unfamiliar Family) works in Chi-yeol’s administration and is known affectionately as Chi-yeol’s work wife. We also have Roh Yoon-seo (Our Blues) as Haeng-sun’s daugther while Uncle Oh Eui-shik (Big Mouth) plays Haeng-sun’s brother.
Other cast members also include Lee Bong-ryun (Narco-Saints), Jang Young-nam (Cheer Up), Kim Sun-young (Stock Struck), and Hwang Bora (Kiss Sixth Sense), among others.
Production for the drama is being led by PD Yoo Je-won (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) and writer Yang Hee-seung (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju), who worked together previously on Oh My Ghostess and High School King of Savvy. Slated to premiere this coming January 2023, tvN’s One Hit Scandal will be airing in the weekend slot.

Interesting title wondering if it will change to something else once released. It looks like a potential safe watch, tentatively adding to the watchlist.

Jeon Do-yeon, Kim Sun-young, Lee Bong-ryun, and Jang Young-nam? Four awesome unnies in one drama? Heck yes. Jung Kyung-ho? Not so much. I don't know what it is but I have an extreme aversion to him. I can't bring myself to watch Prison Playbook, which I'd love to watch, because he's in it. Maybe I can overcome it this time around. Fingers crossed, because look at the female cast. I would watch a drama centered around just the four of them.

I love JKH, but I completely understand having an inexplicably extreme aversion to an actor. I feel it strongly about some actors too.

JDY somehow is a blank slate for me also except for her film MEMORIES OF THE SWORD (2015).

She has never been bad in anything I have seen. I'm a big fan, if that is of any use to you.

Jeon Do-yeon does no wrong, but her choices of films and dramas are not your typical easy watch. She is the first and only Korean to win the best actress award at Cannes.
I love that she doesn't pick popular projects but challenging ones. She is one of a kind, and I love and respect her as an actor.

I am there. Hopefully ONE HIT SCANDAL will be available on a legal stream in the US.
JKH, I think you are wearing a Cartier ‘Tank’ watch. A classic. Just like the guy wearing it. Cartier people you have a ppl potential here!
But this line from @tccolb caught my eye: “known affectionately as Chi-yeol’s work wife” in regards to Shin Jae-ha’s character. I haven’t seen SJH since his great performance in APAD so I am looking forward to seeing him again. I am so behind the times and had to look up the term ‘work wife’ and figured I had the jist but was surprised see so many google hits on the term work spouse. A lot of pros and cons here. Here is wiki’s entry for work spouse:

I did use the term as a loose equivalent to the Korean wording and to keep it concise. The character is described as a fan who succeeded since he's now working with his star (Chi-yeol), and is nicknamed "Dong-hee Bin" for catering to and accommodating all of Chi-yeol's moods/whims. Dong-hee being his name and "Bin" being the title historically used by the king's concubines or the crown prince's wife. I suppose the pros and cons still apply though...

I love both leads and the cast sounds good! I like that the leads have both tried various roles and gained lots of experiences. Jung Kyung-ho had my heart from Heartless City. Wow, my watch list for 2023 needs another list already!

HEARTLESS CITY (2013) was also my introduction to Jung Kyung-ho (and pal Yoon Hyun-min). It was my fifth kdrama and I watched it in 2016.
O/T. When are we going to see JKH and YHM together in a drama again? FALLING FOR INNOCENCE aired 7 years ago already.

that moment when I looked it up and Kyung ho's work wife was a guy. I am so ready for this one. I was gonna stick around for Kyungho but when I heard the author and writers on this one my expectations rose up.
