Lee Se-young becomes Lee Seung-gi’s tenant in new promos for Love According to Law

We finally get our first look at KBS’s upcoming friends-to-lovers romance, Love According to Law, with stills from the first script reading as well as character stills of our two leads.

Based on a popular web novel by Noh Seung-ah, the drama stars Lee Seung-gi (Mouse) as a former prosecutor and building owner named Kim Jung-ho. Lee Se-young (The Red Sleeve Cuff) plays Lawyer Kim Yu-ri, Jung-ho’s close friend of 17 years, who is newly leasing his building’s first floor to open her own law cafe.

Rounding out the main friend group is married couple Kim Seul-gi (Find Me in Your Memory) as Police Officer Han Se-yeon and Oh Dong-min (Memorials) as Chef Do jin-ki.

Other supporting characters include Kim Nam-hee (High Class) playing Jung-ho’s older cousin Psychiatrist Park Woo-jin, the law cafe staff Ahn Dong-gu (Snowdrop) and Kim Do-hoon (Today’s Webtoon), and supermarket owner Jang Hye-jin (Green Mothers’ Club). We also have CEO Jo Han-chul (The Sound of Magic), Jeon No-min as Jung-ho’s dad (Kill Heel), and Kim Won-hae (Showtime Begins!) and Hwang Young-hee (Today’s Webtoon) as Yu-ri’s parents.

Written by Im Eui-jung (One Night) with PD Lee Eun-jin (Happy to Die, Chief Kim) at the helm, KBS’s Love According to Law premieres August 29 in the Monday-Tuesday slot.

Lee Se-young looks ready to kick the world in that suit.

The veteran casting here is a must watch.

This entire cast is super impressive. That said, the person I’m really here for is KIM SEUL-GI. God willing, this will be her big breakout that will lead to a lifetime of lead roles.

Lee Se-young is so unbelievably gorgeous, I am in love.

We are 100% on the same wavelength - my first thought reading this post was "No offense to everyone else but I'm almost exclusively here for Kim Seul-gi" XD

I hope she gets the screen time she deserves!

I echo your sentiments! My goodness, Lee Se-young has grown into being a stunning woman!

I really like that the 2nd leads here are underrated actors who are getting a big shot working in this drama! Also Red Sleeve re-union too! This looks like it could be a surprise sleeper hit when it airs! Also possible Daesang nom or win for Seyoung maybe??

Lee Seung-gi? Check ✅ (didn't realise how much I was missing him on my screen!)

Can't wait :) Sending positive vibes that this will be a good drama, haha!

A superficial observation: It doesn’t seem easy to be a slacker in SK as they are on the go 24/7 so a trackie-wearing wanna be slacker is maybe a developing archetype?

Omygosh, Lee Se-young looks stunning 😍 Loving the pairing with Lee Seung-gi, but I'm even more excited for Kim Seul-gi! She's amazing in her roles, no matter how small they may be, and it's always a pleasure to see her.

So this has additional info other forthcoming shows, some which will be in Netflix including “A model family”: https://www.nme.com/en_asia/features/k-dramas-august-2022-upcoming-must-watch-best-look-forward-little-women-a-model-family-3270776

Does anyone know whether “The Law Cafe” will also be streamed?

This seems promising. Somehow I've never seen any of the younger main cast members - I might check it out just to see what the big deal is with Lee Seung-gi. Is a "law café" even a real thing, or does it exist only in the world inhabited by kdrama writers? Healer had one, too. Please let there be no serial killers, but with a cop and a chef, it sounds like there's room for Fridge from Link to have at least a small role.

@elinor: I’ve never heard of it in RL but I kinda dig it as it is not a bad idea if overheads are manageable. Oy vey, that PPL saturated coffeeshop in “Healer”!

If KBS doesn’t mess around and makes THE LAW CAFE/LOVE BY LAW available to US viewers via Kocowa or Viki I will be there.
I loved Lee Seung-gi in the Netflix reality show TWOGETHER (2020) with Jasper Liu. Highly recommended.

Now what has Lee Joon-gi spurned by at age 40 playing himself as a college undergrad recently in AGAIN MY LIFE (Viki US). I am convinced he set the kdrama record for playing a younger version of himself rather than a younger actor being cast.
If the pics above are what I think they are we have Lee Seung-gi at age 35 and Lee Se-young at age 29 playing themselves as college undergrads. So yes if these characters have been friends for 17 years then LSG in college (like a freshman) might be 17 or 18 but wouldn’t that make Lee Se-young a freshman at maybe 12? I know. The writers can make these characters whatever age they want.

@bong-soo: For the writers, age is in the eye of the beholder.

You are right.
I am assuming the pics have LSG and LSY in college. Maybe they are back in high school lol.

@marcusnyc20: They’re really pushing it though with asking the audience to believe a 40 year old as an 18/19 year old college student as you noted above no matter how dewy his made up skin might look like on screen. LJG is clearly very fit and agile but a teenager he isn’t. But I admit they got away with it. I can’t even imagine how absurd it would be if, for instance, Chris Hemsworth is cast as his 19 year old self. Btw, I remember seeing him as a 21 year old in this hacky soap and it never occurred to me that he would become a global star. He appeared to be just another generic, blond, Australian actor albeit a very tall one and with a great voice. How wrong was I?

Noting that Lee Se-young is 29 years old and has fifty-four drama and film roles listed. Also, she played three distinct characters in 'A Korean Odyssey' including a zombie.

Great cast and how did I not know Kim Seul-gi was in this? I love The leads too. This will be good, I’m certain of it. Based on a webtoon as well, so the source material we know is already popular. (I don’t stray too far from what the mainstream likes, typically.)

Korea and their cafes! LOL!

I should check out the webtoon since this sounds really cute. Friends to lovers is one of my fave tropes.

And Kim Seul Gi! Oh Dong-min was hilarious in Memorials too.
