Meet the cast of Lovestruck in the City in new character posters

KakaoTV’s upcoming original drama series Lovestruck in the City (formerly City Couple’s Way of Love) has released new posters, featuring its main cast. Ji Chang-wook (Backstreet Rookie) and Kim Ji-won (Arthdal Chronicles) play opposite each other in this story about young people who try to survive tough, city-living while still trying to find love amidst loneliness.

In the poster above, Ji Chang-wook looks adoringly at Kim Ji-won, whose gaze is turned upwards toward the fireworks lighting the sky. The copy says, “The questions that arise after a breakup help you find love.”

In the character posters below, the top question of each poster asks “What kind of man/woman are you compatible with?” And in each corner, the love interest of the main person featured is shown. Ji Chang-wook thinks: “A tough girl? I find myself attracted to strange girls.” Meanwhile, Kim Ji-won thinks: “I don’t know…but there is a man that I can’t forget.”

In Kim Min-seok’s (Because This Life is Our First) poster, his ideal compatible partner is “Lyn ♥, always only Lyn.” Lyn is played by So Ju-yeon (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2), and her poster is in the third line. But when she’s asked about men she’s most compatible with, she draws a blank.

Han Ji-eun (Old School Intern) and Ryu Kyung-soo (Itaewon Class) play our last couple. When she’s asked about who she’s compatible with, she answers: “Anyone who matches me well? Men are all the same anyway.” Ryu on the other hand says: “I love ALL [women]. I’ve met with quite a few.”

After a recent incident where a production team member tested positive for coronavirus, filming for Lovestruck in the City was momentarily postponed. It has been reported that filming recently resumed after all the actors and staff members were tested. However, in order to maintain the quality of production while still ensuring the safety of the team, the air date for Lovestruck in the City has been pushed back to December 22.

I wonder what is the drama business model new content creators, like KakaoTV, Will the budgets be on par with cable shows? What will be its production values? How will it be distributed, if at all, to international viewers?

You are asking very good questions. As for international distribution- That can become very problematical.

I can't wait to see Kiͥmͫ Jiͥ wꙻoⷪnᷡ on screen. I've missed her so much. And this time she with one of my favorite actors. What are the odds?

Hm. Rather stark, unglamorous head shots, that make everyone look a bit old and weary. I guess that is the intention? And that hairstyle does not do Ji Chang-wook any favors (not a fan of the floofy-hair-middle-part trend on anyone, frankly). It all looks sortof...low-budget.

Agreed! I guess that's intentional - a more unglamorous approach? I'm watching it for the director and Ji Chang Wook. I hope he picked a good drama this time.

I'm hoping for good things here. I have never disliked Kim Ji Won in a role even if the drama was nonsense. So here is hoping. I also really like the other cast.

I like him in BR. Thought the role was great, especially cos of the way he brought the character out. The only one I didn't like was MMS but that was more cos of the poor writing. I hope this roles brings something different to the viewers. I always thought he can bring something fresh for each role.

Is it just me or do these posters kinda look like the ones you'd see at a health clinic or something

I am really looking forward to watching Ji Chang-wook in a drama having passed on MELTY and BACKSTREET ROOKIE.
If you want an interesting comparison compare the JCW (age 33) (with Kim Ji-won) in the first poster with the JCW in the header pic where to me he looks about 10 years younger. I like the cast.

You ought to watch a couple episodes at random in the middle of 'Melting Me Softly' just to witness the air of *grim resignation* given off by the whole cast. Every last one of them knew they were trapped in a stinker and unable to escape.

A lot of people are already talking about the production value, which I'm also curious about. The posters look more webdrama ish if we're to go by anything.
I'm also curious to see if this drama might put JCW back into my good graces, but by virtue of him being in this one I'm already wary bc he somehow always finds himself in the worst and most problematic of shows (Healer being the exception).
I do like the cast though and will check it out regardless, especially since it's been a while since Kim Jiwon Kim Minseok have been on my screen!

If I didn't know I'd think this was a KOK webdrama or something. Even playlist global drama posters look better than this.

While this may make for a refreshing approach in theory, I doubt the execution. We'll see how it goes.

Can I just say the IC guy looks like totally *NOT IT*in the posters? I wouldn't have recognised him if the article didn't say so.
