First look at tvN’s One Day, Destruction Entered the Front Door of My House

Seo In-gook (Hundred Million Stars From the Sky) and Park Bo-young’s (Abyss) new drama has released new posters and stills. Called One Day, Destruction Entered the Front Door of My House, it’s a fantasy romance between an entity that causes everything to disappear and a human who stakes her life on a contract in order to not disappear.

Park Bo-young plays an ordinary web novel editor who ends up gambling her love and life on an extraordinary whim of fate. Her character is a courageous, lovely human who was living without any lofty ambitions. When death comes knocking on her door, she starts living her life to the fullest. Seo In-gook plays an entity with a cruel fate who ends up offering his compassion and his love to this unexpected life. In both posters, the copy reads: “Let’s pray for Destruction, love has come.”

Written by Im Meari (Beauty Inside) and directed by Kwon Young-il (My Unfamiliar Family), tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama One Day, Destruction Entered the Front Door of My House will begin airing in May, after Navillera finishes its run.

The title does not give me confidence that the writer knows how to edit.

It has always seemed to me that one problem with Kdramaland is that writers are supposed to edit. It is high time that the production companies swallowed the bullet and wen out and hired some actual editors. Any number of recent fiascos might have been avoided if someone with common sense could have been on duty to flag mistakes, inconsistencies and even bad pacing- and errors of judgment (JOSEON EXORCIST for instance)- sometimes an editor can do the little tweaks that make all of the difference).

Ding ding ding!!! Correct!! The issue is that the Korean entertainment industry is edit and shoot along the way/same time. So for films b/c its a one and done deal that even with the edit/shoot method, that they've a few months before the release date to do so. Altho with JE's case, it reminds me of The King's Letters (Song Kang Ko/Park Hae-il) that flopped in the 2nd week, when news of it distorting King Sejong's works/origins came out. Koreans are very adamant about their history given their background, in fact Asian countries tend to be quite nationalistic as they're a homogenous society.

But yes, editing is super important. That's why I welcome more pre-produced dramas. However, I've seen many pre-produced dramas still have some comical/CGI errors (ahem Sisyphus) despite it being finished ahead of time.

For me, its confusing how a show can be filmed up to 80% or really filmed a good portion of their drama, and not you know review their episodes before submitting them? It's confusing to me, b/c if the channel puts a rating on it, I assume they've some intel on the contents. But I gather, they don't really check the episodes 100% before it goes out to the public. I do hope Korea can eventually go the way of post production studios who work on their projects, and check to see if there any fiascos that can be removed prior to airing. JE's case still makes my head spin, 80% filmed, and yet it took Ep 1/2+K-netizens remarks to see the danger/issues like huh?!

Maybe long titles are returning as a trend, a la Victorian era book titles--such as,

The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Of York, Mariner: Who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an un-inhabited Island on the Coast of America, near the Mouth of the Great River of Oroonoque; Having been cast on Shore by Shipwreck, wherein all the Men perished but himself. With An Account how he was at last as strangely deliver'd by Pyrates.

Just try turning that one into an acronym.

Aww yay! The first stills for Seo In Guk are out too! I am so looking forward to this!

P.S. Since when did DB start spelling him as "Gook" instead of "Guk"? I seem to remember spending hours under the title 'Seo In Guk'!

My Unfamiliar Family's PDnim \o/

I'm not sure about the plot but there is Seo In-Gook ! I don't really trust Par Bo-Young's choices anymore after Strong Girl and Abyss. She likes fantastic elements in a story by the way.

The poster reminds me Sunbae's one with the hug, the difference of height and the colors.

I don't trust PBY's choices either (I had issues with Oh My Ghostess too) but trust SIG since I've loved every drama of his I've watched, so have no clue what to expect. I also love the PD's previous works but have issues with how Beauty Inside ended, so I'm just really nervous. I want this to be good so bad after waiting years for SIG to come back to dramaland!

Yeah, with the font and the long title too. When I saw the poster for Sunbae, I assumed they were trying to emulate Pretty Noona.

Oh really? I didn't think about Pretty Noona's poster. I mean for me, Pretty Noona was all about the umbrellas (red, green, yellow).

Probably my most anticipated drama of the year! Who cares about the premise and overly long title, Seo In-guk could be doing nothing but boil water or something and I’d still watch all 16 long hours of this show.

Not romantic at all.

I really miss Park Bo-young. She is a pretty darn good actress!
It's too bad her film career isn't thriving like her younger years but no matter what it's always good to see her in a drama.

... Uhm ... it probably depends who you ask, but I wouldn't recommend HMS if you held a gun to my head, and wouldn't touch it with a 49 and a half foot barge pole.
Does Ziggy hard carry HMS? Yes. But it's Ziggy.
Is it also extremely defenestration worthy? Several times, yes.
I suggest I Remember You, Shopping King Louis, Reply 97 or 38 Task Force instead... (aka quite literally any of his other projects, even if it's a rewatch).

AsianWiki is going with DOOM AT YOUR SERVICE which can be nicely abbreviated to DAYS. I am a fan of SIG’s from the great I REMEMBER YOU/HELLO MONSTER and also SQUAD 38.
(Whispering: I did enjoy his performance in HMS until that weird ending.)
O/T. SIG will be making a cameo in NAVILLERA which is being directed by Han Dong-hwa who was one of SQUAD 38’s directors. I presume he is doing it as a favor.

Well Doom at Your Service gets points already for being 6 words shorter- and DAYS is a nice acronym indeed lol. I suppose you could abbreviate the longer title to just "ODD", with the first 3 words lol.

(Oh I enjoyed his PERFORMANCE too... :P)

I’ll definitely be checking this one out, but I’m super hesitant for a couple reasons. Both Park Bo-Young and Seo In-Gook’s last projects were awful (in my opinion at least), the writer’s last project wasn’t good (despite the talented cast). About the only thing I’m confident in is the director, as he did a solid job with his last project.

All that being said, Park Bo-Young is a bias of mine, so I’ll watch her in anything (I did finish Abyss after all), and I’m usually a fan of Seo In-Gook as well so *fingers crossed*

Though admittedly Park Bo-Young picks way better movies than she does series...(Werewolf Boy and On Your Wedding Day were both excellent).

Have to disagree with you @ssandulak on Seo In-Guk's last project being awful. I thought it was a masterpiece and he was excellent in it (if you are talking about the drama 50 million stars) as I didn't see his last film (Pipeline) yet. Of all the actors I have seen from South Korea, Seo In Guk ranks right up there at the top for talent. But I have to say this, I saw a lengthy preview of the upcoming drama and was very disappointed. It seems like a romantic comedy and I was hoping for something with a little more substance. The write up for the drama makes it seem darker and more mysterious, but the preview was far from that. I have never particularly cared for Park Bo-Young though, so that is probably part of the problem for me. I will definitely be watching this and hope it is wonderful.

That’s definitely the show I was talking about. And loving all the leads in it, I was super disappointed with it. Though I understand it’s pretty decisive and most people either love it or hate it...I’m just firmly in the second category :)

I loved On your wedding day! But I have a huge soft spot for Kim Young Kwang, who was actually in a kdrama with Seo in guk back in the day (Love Rain). You can totally play one degree of separation with Park Bo Young. Lol.

Kim Young Kwang is excellent in most the shows he’s in :D I didn’t really start noticing him until Lookout. And that scene where he reveals who he is to the main villain STILL sticks in my mind to this day...Chilling stuff. I’m even watching him in Hello, Me! Which has been...pretty good actually. Definitely want to check out his new movie though, Mission:Possible. Apparently he’s a Red Velvet fan in it (random bit of information I picked up from...somewhere?).

I really liked him in lookout! I think he’s really done well in everything he’s been in. This last episode he really gave me Do han vibes from Lookout in that suit! He dies playful to heart attack serious in a split second which is scary!

That's exactly why I don't like her. Having a real cutie pie as the female lead limits the drama and the scope of the other characters as everyone has to work within that circle of cuteness.

I don't necessarily dislike Park Bo-young (I loved her in Oh My Ghostess, but that was one of her first notable roles, so her typecasting wasn't so noticeable), but I agree that her cuteness does limit dramas. Strong Fairy didn't work for me precisely for this reason. The drama was just entirely fan service, in my opinion. I hope this one has more depth.

Is it just me, or does this poster look very similar to the poster for Million Stars in the Sky? Dreamy pastel colors with the main leads holding each other. Not that I'm complaining - Seo In-guk's face really fits the ethereal, bad boy protecting girl concept.
