Finally watched Nokdu Flower, which has been on my radar since it aired. Spent the last few episodes in tears. HEARTBREAKINGLY GOOD. Kudos to the actors/actresses and production team!
After I watched Six Flying Dragons many many years ago, the bar was set so high for sageuks that thereafter I tend to approach them with caution unless they have great casting/writing/directing talent. Especially when it’s “fate of the country” sort of stuff – one doesn’t want to see that fumbled!
I am back to wishing there were more k-dramas with psychics! Up to now, I have only heard of 10 k-dramas featuring psychics and have watched 8 of them. Don’t recall any for 2021… did I miss one?
If you include shamans and mediums in the definition of ‘psychic’ then Daebak Real Estate, Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim, Lovers of the Red Sky and Secret Royal Inspector & Joy all have them.
Does anyone remember 2014’s Sweden Laundry? I feel like I am missing out on – or perhaps there are less off – fantasy web dramas. Or maybe I never hear of any good ones? Recommendations?
The one with (i believe his name is) changjo, an idol? And the girl’s kim jiwon sidekick in fight my way? I watched it. Not really memorable but pretty entertaining neverthelest.
I settled on Graceful Family as my favorite drama of 2019. Over-the-top makjang with an unrepentantly fierce lead. Same for the villains. Loved the water slap & pet fish funeral.
For a month I’ve tried to catch up from a long slump. Watched: SKY Castle, My Husband Mr. Oh!, Kill It, Buamdong Revenge Club, Live Up to Your Name, The Guest, and Life on Mars.
Next: My Ahjussi.
Thanks. Trying to catch up on a lot of good shows I didn’t have access to when they aired! It’s funny when you watch a bunch of OCN dramas back to back, you realize how many of the same actors they employ.
Just marathoned Life On Mars in 2 days. Still confused as ever if Han Tae Joo is dreaming or time traveling but I am okay with that. All hail the existential crisis!
I want to start a new drama but cannot decide. There are three on my radar to choose from: Just Between Lovers, Her Private Life, or My Fellow Citizens.
I’m HPL trash right now. But, for overall quality, I’d recommend My Fellow Citizens. Of all dramas right now, it has the most to offer everyone. I’m shocked more beanies aren’t watching it. Every episode is so much fun!
Just Between Lovers is lovely, as well. I’m finding Her Private Life delightful so far, but there are 6 eps left and it is a rom-com, so if you can only pick one, I’d save this one for later when you can be confident it stays consistently good.
Finished Possessed, enjoyed it. My poor heart though. Excellent leads and acting. Their chemistry was great; their love story sorrowful yet sweet. Near the end, reminded me of kdrama The Devil. A++
I went through a six-month dry spell with kdramas. Recent kdramas have successfully drawn me back in, especially ones with fresh actors/actresses. Feels like a new wave of talent has arrived.
I want a drama with funny-man leads Choi Siwon and Joo Sang-wook. If the plot is anything except melodrama, we can see who can outdo whom with hilarious antics and bromance. #MeetingOfTheFootActors
I’ve waited a long time for psychics to be the central theme of a season. The shows, While You Were Sleeping and Black, make me cautiously optimistic. Last good psychic drama was The Devil from 2007
For real! There is one other drama that comes to mind – a web drama called Sweden Laundry. It was about a girl who ran a laundromat and had premontions of her clients while touching their laundry, lol. Cute but very short show.
I’ve seen that show on Viki but never really watched it 😆😂 And that’s creepy if someone touches your soiled clothes and will tell you about your future! 😱😱😱😱
I finished Let’s Eat 2. Did anyone else like it better than the first season besides me? I just enjoyed the female lead more in general, perhaps because I empathized as a foodie always on a diet.
Oh dear. I just recently started dieting, and today also started watching the drama Let’s Eat. It’s natural to torture yourself with what you cannot have. The food porn in this show is amazing.
There are so many interesting dramas right now, I am feeling kind of overloaded! How is everyone else handling their drama-watching schedule? Have you sidelined any riveting dramas for sanity\’s sake?
I’m holding off on Circle until it ends since it’s short and I can marathon it. I used to try to watch everything as it airs and I just can’t do it. The “Whad We’re Watching” feature helps me choose since I know which recappers generally share similar taste with me. I see what they are loving and what they aren’t and choose from there.
I generally read the recapper comments as well to discern what is good/gaining traction but the recappers seem to be loving everything currently on the air too! I feel like kid in a candy store who basically likes anything made of sugar. I want to start all the shows… but common sense says not to.
I’m currently live watching 4 shows. Promised myself to at least wait with the rest until MxM is finished next week, but don’t know how that’ll go lol.

I’m glad you liked it. Nokdu Flower is one of the best k-dramas in recent years. The acting and artistic direction were superb.

Watching Green Mothers’ Club. It reminds me of SKY Castle. I wasn’t expecting the “murder” mystery! These mothers are ruthless.
Also, I’m happy to have Lee Yo-Won back on my TV.
