Army might recognize him as the tiny bean that Jimin(/most of BTS lol) won’t stop hugging and chatting with on music- and awardshows lol *literally the most clingy, chatty and adorable duo in all of kpop*
Actually Shawol, EXO-L and Starlight might recognize him too, for the exact same reasons pffftttt 😂

      And yup, in both Hotshot and W1 he’s “just” the main vocal, they probably wanted him to be free to sing? Except then W1’s choreographer gives him super hard moves cos he’s actually one of their Top 3 or 4 dancers lol 😂 Poor guy often has to sing while doing weird moves and yet still sounds stable! But yeah they have a really good danceline ^^

      Hotshot has a really amazing main dancer, I’m planning on sharing a clip of him if I can find it hehe, but Woonie is probably their second best ^^

      He’s part of the “Padding Squad” circle of friends which are all good dancers lol (him, Jimin, Taemin, Kai and Hotshot’s Timoteo)

This is Euijin, happy virus and main dancer in Bigflo/UNB and one of the best idol dancers I’ve ever seen ^^ He used to be in a popping dance crew and I just love the way he feels the music and his flow, plus he’s a really talented choreographer and freestyler!

The final idol in my ultimate Top 3 is Ha Sungwoon, main vocal in both his group, Hotshot, and the temporary group he’s currently active in, Wanna One. I’ve often seen W1 assumed to be a group with no talent, as one who consists of people who were voted into that group only because of their looks and personalities. But in fact they have some really good dancers, as well as a great vocal line, full of distinct vocal tones and several really good singers, especially Sungwoon, who is both a technically skilled as well as emotional singer ^^
He also composes and writes songs, but whereas Hotshot’s agency gives their artists pretty much free reins, W1’s agency let members do nothing in terms of music, despite several of them actually being used to composing and writing songs, so I guess all those songs they’ve been writing won’t be released until after they disband *scowls at Swing Ent.*

This is a unit song from their latest album, it was written/composed/produced by Nell and sung by Sungwoon, Minhyun and Jisung (main, lead and sub vocal in OT11 W1). And well, I just really love it, especially the build up by the end. The entire last minute is just gorgeous ^^
The vid doesn’t show it, but all the adlibs were done by Sungwoon 😊

          Ahh sorry, Kimon = Kid Monster = Roh Taehyun = Noh Taehyun = Taehyun. Kid Monster name came from back in his streetdancing days and used to be his stage name in Hotshot, he just changed it back to his original name cos he had to use it in P101 and it’s the name he got known with, so now he stuck with it 🙂

          I personally love a good dancer/choreo, it makes me all envious, cos I may have rhythm, but I ain’t go no body coordination skills lol!

      Yup he was lol. After listening to the song like once, he randomly started harmonizing with the chorus and they were surprised and all “this was really good!” and then he sang the chorus on his own and was all “ahh I have a cold, so it might not sound good”, but they were like “this is you with a COLD??” haha, they totally fell for his voice ^^ They actually didn’t add the adlibs until after they heard him sing ^^ My faves loving my fave is the best thing ever hehe.

      Jisung does have such a lovely tone and is actually a techincally more skilled singer than some of their lead vocals, so I’m kind of sad he’s just a sub and usually doesn’t get many lines. But he shone so much here, yay!!!
      And yes, they all did really well, their voices and emotions all fit these kind of songs so well ^^ *the loud, but secretly super sentimental parental unit of W1 will forever be my fave hahaha*

Along with Seunghyun, Seungyoon is one of my Top 3 favorite idols *do you sense a pattern here? :P* Every time I go on DB I see new Muchie-converted Inseos around lol, but you might not all know that her Winner craze started with me sliding Jinwoo pics *yes not Yoon cos I thought Jinwoo would be more her style and then it turned out to be Hoony pffttt* and EXIT:E songs her way 😉

Anyways, outside of Inseos, most people these days seem to know Mino more than other members, but before even joining Winner, Yoon got incredibly famous with his cover of Yoon Jong Shin’s “Instinctively” when he covered it on an audition show at age 16. He’s not just the fluffy Maknae Leader, but also one of the most skilled new gen idol singers, as well as a great songwriter. He actually had a solo debut pre-Winner and I hope so much that we’ll get a full solo album one day, full of rock songs *puppy eyes at YG*

I don’t know if Muchie ever shared this here, but this is probably my favorite Yoon live. It’s one of his solos, “It Rains”, and I just adore when he sings songs that let his rock roots shine through! 😊

    I fell in love with his voice in Fool. Hot damn. I love a good deeper voice, it’s so rare in kpop. He needs to sing more rock songs. He has such a great voice!

        I know!! I get so happy every time my boy V gets to use his lower register. Most of my kpop biases are singers with the deepest voices.

          Personally I’m sad that Daehwi never gets any lines in W1 songs, bc crappy as most their songs may be, they have a great vocal line, but Daehwi isn’t usually appreciated, because he can’t do all those high notes *le sigh*

          Haha same! All my favorite kpop groups have at least one baritone I think? And always, a l w a y s, a good variety of vocal tone. I don’t get why so many idols have similar sounding voices, it’s as if they pick them based on them sounding alike and that’s just sad *wants more harmonies with unique vocal colours blending*

    Jinwoo was a good place to start for a kdrama fan! His looks being a good combo of many actors was a big draw! But it was their variety skills that drew me in 😀

      Hehehe well Jaejin was actually supposed to be the lead vocal before Hongki came, they battled it out in the karaoke room with Jaejin giving up the second he heard Hongki singing pfftttt. He actually sings a lot in their songs though and he really does have a beautiful voice! ^^ If you want I can link you a song of theirs where he sings more?
      All of them except Jonghoon have actually done a lot of musicals ^^

      Also I approve of your good taste. I mean, Seunghyun will forever be one of my Top 3 faves, not just in FTI, but all of kpop, but you can’t not love Jaejin, he’s totally awesome 😉

This isn’t the best fancam in the world, but this is from the FTI concert I was at *not my fancam btw* Love Sick is their debut song and they remade it for their 10th anniversary with a different arrangement. Then at the concert they did a whole third version of it and I just LOVE it and their ability to rearrange a song over and over, making it sound different every time. They usually only perform their self-written/composed songs at concerts, but Love Sick still holds a special place because it skyrocketed them to instant fame *they literally broke a ton of records with their debut*
Sadly the fans kept singing along to the original version of the song during the entire first part *facepalm*

Random anecdote time: At one point during the show Jonghoon walked over and switched Jaejin and Seunghyun’s places making them stand right next to each other saying “oh look now they have a whole shirt” 😂

            Hongki is such a aegyo-filled person, but he always says he doesn’t want to do it. And then proceeds to be the cutest (read: cringiest) bean ever pfffttttt.
            I really like the guitar in the beginning of the song, it sounds so pretty, but I’m really not a fan of their old non-selfcomposed songs lol. And I think Hongki just loathes it even more than other members cos of the embarrassing, weird dance he did for it hahaha 😂

            Ikr, I really wish I could see them live in SK or Japan one day and understand every word, cos they joke around so much on stage when it’s a language they speak 😄 They joked around sliiightly less in Paris cos well, errr, it all had to go through a translator lol!

    FTI is amazing. Hong Kis voice is AMAZING. It’s a shame they aren’t as huge in Korea but their Japanese concerts are to die for. I have vocal envy.

      True, but at least Hongki is still huge in Korea and everyone knows who FTI is and a few of their old hit songs, even if they don’t know the other members or their selfcomposed songs. Plus, they’re like the biggest in Japan. So all in all still much better off than most groups ^^

        Yes Hong ki is big in Korea. I’m just sad that alternative bands don’t get as huge. I think they declined a bit after they started writing their own stuff which I love way more. The are SO HUGE in Japan. I know that’s where they spend most of their time.

          Mmmh same. There are so many rock groups I like that will probably never get huge. But at least The Koxx are getting more famous with their Unexpected Q gig, yay! Who knows, maybe FTI and others will help make rock more popular again one day.
          Yeah their songs and albums are usually chart toppers and they play really big venues there ^^ I think they’ve said they spend about half their time in SK and half in Japan, which makes sense considering their activities.

            @adieunoire They used to yeah, but lots have changed from their I Will album in 2015. Pretty sure they have full artistic freedom music-wise in SK now too. Hongki even has his own studio/producing crew thingy (lol sorry I forget the actual word for this in English pffttt) called Hong’s Tower. All their Korean songs 2015-now are self-composed, -written, etc., except for their Love Sick remake obviously 🙂

My dramawatching and DB-ing urge is finally coming back. Just in time for my exam on Monday. Oh goody. I’ve been trying so hard to resist that urge, but while I’ve managed not to start a drama, do I actually end up reading? Nooooooo….
Instead I keep listening to Sungwoon’s Nell cover from KoMS over and over again while getting more and more emo cos it’s just so gooood and so heartfelt.
And of course then I had to go and listen to Seperation Anxiety, the album the song is from, cos well, Nell, and now I’m getting even more emo. Gosh. Such a silly bean. Really should go do some of that reading instead.

      Hehehehe thank you for letting me do the honours 😉 He’s so addicted to sad ballads, I’m not surprised he sang a Nell song, especially since it coincides with their unit promos and his voice suits their songs really well too! Yeah, I can’t even think of a single song of theirs that isn’t sad kekeke.
      I didn’t mind it much here, but then I mostly just focus on his voice 😂 But tbh the reason I stopped wathing KoMS is cos I really don’t like the band. They have a tendency to make songs sound the same and kind of annoying?

      How did you like Forever +1 btw? I really loved the last minute, but I wish they’d blended their voices more before that last part, it sounded a bit too seperate to me before they started harmonizing.

        But I must admit yay most of their songs are sad, but not just sad, it’s sad , comforting, inspiring, soothing, oh and so much more , they’re Nell <3 .

        I've listened to some songs from YT suggestions for KoMS and I was annoyed by that flute and guessed they made similar arrangements ^^' , I haven't watched it and then let's say I don't like Kim GuRa MC style so I was never tempted to watch that program ^^'.

        I liked Forever+1, it got that Nell vibe but then it's a boyband matter due to having several singers : it's like A sings, B sings, C sings and then A,B and C sings. I made an mp3 of the guide song by JongWan, it's only 1min but it's my fav' version of all =P .

          Mmmh, it’s like their own brand of sad that isn’t just sad, but other things at the same time as well.

          KoMS is in many ways a great program that I love, but after having bingewatched it a lot way back when, the band got on my nerves and the talking sections started to get boring when it was about people I didn’t know lol, so now I just ff through eps when I know someone I like is in it.

          I really liked Woon’s eps tho, they gathered a lot of good singers in an attempt to end the current queen’s long reign. Which also made me extra proud that Woon go to round 3, cos most idols don’t even get past round 1 and hardly ever past round 2, yet he went up against a really good singer in 2 and still won. And the guy who won over him in the even won over the current queen + Woon hadn’t even prepared a song for round 3 and still sang well, so like *is a happy (and fangirling) clam :P*

          I feel like Zico and Dynamic Duo managed to blend the members’ voices better and I think that’s bc Nell just isn’t used to making songs for more than one singer. I don’t actually know if they’ve ever done it before, but I don’t think they have? So it’s unfamiliar to them and thus harder for them to arrange.

          Hehehe well the one with Woon is obv my fave 😉 But I actually like the fancams of their live from the Day 1 concert much better than the studio ver (probably cos Woon had a cold when they recorded it) and more than the official live which was shot on Day 3 it seems, their voices sounded kinda tired :/
          I’ve loved their voices together since Downpour, I hope we get an actual Downpour reunion, aka with Jaehwan, some time.

            I have always listened quite often to Nell with some “off” time when I go back to other artists but then it’s like a cycle with bands I like.

            About KoMS, I’ve always thought it would be a program nice to watch to try to guess the singer , then reality is I see it on soompi with the identity already revealed , but when I listen to the song, I can’t help saying “of course it’s him, how can you not recognize his voice ?” (Roy Kim, JaeHwan, and some other) . Also I don’t know that much singers that well to recognize their voices, so I’m glad soompi news exists haha x) . Glad that he advanced till round 3, he does sing very well 🙂 .

            They said it was their first time working with a boyband, also they decided the song repartition quite late in the process because JongWan seemed to be quite a perfectionist (which doesn’t surprise me haha), so for a first challenge they did quite well ^^ . Honestly I’m more happy having seen them in a K show than having another WO song ^^’ .

            I don’t have enough music knowledge to notice how their voices sound different between the recording and the live,or day1 and day3, I trust you on that one 😉 . Also you know JaeHwan is my fav’, so I can’t say no to a Downpour reunion =P

            Haha yeah that’s me with my fave artists. It used to be a cycle of Western artists like Billy Joel, late-era Beatles, Rufus Wainwright, but now it’s more like FTI, Zico, Park Hyo Shin etc hahaha.
            Also I get voice obsessions and clearly my current one is a tiny fluffy cloud pfffttt

            It’s sooooo hard to guess the singers when you don’t soompi or yt comment hints tbh LOL. Especially since a lot of the contestants aren’t actually pro singers. The most I usually managed to guess was whether or not someone was actually a singer and whether or not, if they were, they were idols/had idol training.

            Yeah I watched the XCon eps, poor boys had like no time to practice lol! Apparently Jongwan makes singers do the takes all over from the beginning every time instead of redoing just the part that wasn’t okay, I had no idea he did that, but it might be one of the reasons their songs are so emotional, bc it’s sung in one take and thus you get into it more.
            Hahhhaa I can imagine! I’m thrilled my fave members got to work with Nell, plus hearing them sing more lines lol. But also yes, it was just such a delight to see Nell on a show! I love how savage they were 😛

            I watched an old video of Sunggyu talking about working with Nell for his solo album and saying it was really hard since he had to repeat again and again. It reminded of Haha struggling with Zion.T (such a perfectionist O_o) during Infinite challenge music festival in 2015.

            About Xcon they were savage, shy and unexpectedly cute he clapped while still holding his cup, I mean how can I resist to such clumsy, cute guy with glasses… I can’t <3

            We can hope for a collab after their disband, but it's most likely not going to happen :S .

            Also you cannot post about Nell, JaeHwan, Roy Kim (and well I won't quote all my fav' bands) w/o expecting me to upvote or comment as well =P , anyway thank you it's always a pleasure to see posts about Nell ^^

            Actually even tho JBJ disbanded, Taehyun and Sanggyun just released a duet. And since Taehyun is from the same group/agency as Woonie, I don’t think there’d be any problem from that side. Their agency seems pretty laid back and focused on the artistic side of things and on their artists’ happiness, so I doubt they’d block a duet. Dunno about CJ E&M tho :/

            I saw the duet of Taehyun and Sanggyun, again thanks Soompi . I don’t know the agencies well, let’s hope CJ E&M will let it happen ^^ .

            My list of fav’ has changed when my hard drive died, so there are artists I couldn’t listen to as often as I did (+ was lazy to do again the full process of getting the music : Urban zakapa, acoustic collabo, Youhna and others) .
            Here are artists/bands I listen the most often to (no ranking) : 10cm, AKMU, Bolbbalgan4, Busker Busker, Jang Beom June (he’s from Busker Busker), Clazziquai, Ibadi, Jung Sung Ha, Loveholic, Nell, Roy Kim, Soran , Yiruma.
            Then I listen to other artists, drama ost, kpop, depending on my mood and YT suggestions haha, also keeping up with kpop is too hard haha x)

            I think my most impossible Dream Collab yet is probably Woozi, Woon, Yoon and Yoongi in one unit. Like. That would never ever happen. It would be awesome though. Especially since they all write and compose songs. And no one’s a weak link in terms of singing/rapping or dancing.             JYP totally ruins singers with his weird ideas when he can’t even sing properly himself pffttt. Jeong Jinwoon didn’t start improving as a singer until he joined Mystic. Makes me really happy that Sungwoon didn’t end up in JYP after all, even if it might have brought him fame earlier.

For the first time in ages I was in the mood for kdramas yesterday. Today I’m not anymore. Only managed to get Pretty Noona ep 3 done and then try out Rich Man, which is a pretty terrible drama btw and not even Jaejin is enough to convince me to finish ep 1.
I feel like I’ve been in a drama slump foreveeerrr…..
Back to music and variety for my Korean language fix I guess lol.

Exhibit A: While shopping I heard them play BoA’s One Shot Two Shot in between a bunch of Western stuff. I have never ever heard a Korean song played anywhere here before unless I’m the one playing it lol.

Exhibit B: I found a food stall for Korean food! Which doesn’t seem like much, but it’s beyond hard to find Korean food here. I think this might be the only place I’ve seen, actually. Just some decades ago the only Asian food you could get here was Chinese lol, so this is HUGE. (And it was tasty. Very tasty. And they played old Shinee songs on the tv in background *is not ashamed to have recognized which songs even without the audio*)

    here, people might not all be receptive yet, but they have become aware. there WILL be a breaking point when they will stop listening to the snobby local radio djs who are allstrong kpop haters, and decide on their own.

    we have several korean restaurants here, but they are really far from my house so I´ve never gone. I hear that Gotsu is always filled with people, it is a store and a restaurant in Tallinn.

      Most of the time when I mention I listen to Korean music people automatically assume it’s either Gangnam Style, or if they’re slightly more aware, people who can’t sing dancing around in silly costumes to pop songs. So… not that aware generally haha 😛

I saw a comment on a Kim Bum Soo vid saying it was sad to see how underrated he was, because all the comments there said they came bc of some idol’s cover.
