Just disappointed when dramas lose their steam toward the finale. Yet to watch ep 15… finger crossed it doesn’t disappoint further!

Welcome back on DB , hoping you and your family are well 🙂 and that you’ll find a better drama next time hehe .

Haha! You have found me, Hagsaeng! Me and family are well, thank you!! How’ve you been? What have you been upto!
I didn’t know you were on DB until I saw your msg on someone’s post yesterday! Can you believe it’s been over 2 yrs since I came on DB? 😭 Haha

Ahhh, no no! The drama I’m watching is great!! I love it to bits…just that ep disappointed me is all.

I try to check fanwall once a week or every two week, but only post after I finish a show (kinda a slow watcher recently).
I joined discord Beanies and I’m checking it way more often than DB ^^.
I’m fine 🙂 , still working from home (which I love hehe).

Waiting for the next ep like…

I’m so impressed with the writer of The Ghost Detective. She should get the writer of the year award. 👏
I still can’t believe how she turned a perfectly good drama into a hot, stinking mess. Only truly talented writers can do that. Definitely checking out her future dramas.
And I’m definitely not wearing Esom’s expression right now.

She’s actually rocking it better than me. At least her hair is still in place. I might’ve plucked out a few of mine because of how smart, thrilling and suspenseful the latest eps were.

I’m glad I’ve dropped it 2 weeks ago. (Thank God for the busy weeks) They still have the last eps left, right? Are you planning to watch it till the end?

    4
    2

One more ep gadis. I can do this. I made it this far. Plus it can’t get any worse right?
Despite how busy I am with work, I made time to watch this show. And I’m thinking why do I even bother?

      7

Same here. I didn’t have time and it didn’t make me excited so stopped. Reading all this am glad :))

      1

Ha! I don’t have time either. I guess I’m finishing it for the sake of finishing it. And here I thought I had gotten better at dropping dramas.
Should’ve used this time for 100Million Stars instead:( Have yet to watch that!

If it hadn’t started so good, and the actors weren’t so talented, then I wouldn’t be so disappointed. But this “plot” has devolved into a mess of tangled rules, inconsistencies, and the just plain stupid.

I do have to say that Park Eun-bin did a good job conveying the subtle mannerisms of Sun-woo even before we supposedly knew she was possessed by her.

    11
    2

i’d like to disagree regarding that last point? though I absolutely adore peb and love her with my whole heart, I found her performance as sunwoo-in-yeowool slightly subpar? Before SW’s identity was revealed, visually, I felt that it was still yeowool-in-yeowool, though I knew at the back of my mind that logically, that was unlikely. After SW’s identity was outed it didn’t feel like she was sunwoo-in-yeowool either. She just seemed to be a whole new character / someone trying too hard to be like SW. Then again, it might just be that Lee Ji Ah’s performance as SW was too stellar and distinct that its hard for anyone else to portray in the same manner. Or maybe i’m just being picky and expecting too much

      4
      0

THIS. 👏 It can’t get any worse than plain stupid. I’m still so shocked that one writer wrote this. Was there a change of writers midway? Or maybe she is truly talented at creating masterpiece messes.

“supposedly knew” haha thanks for the laugh. I knew this was coming a mile away.
I was more annoyed that the link I watched on didn’t have a FF option lol.

LOL, Raven! I started reading and was like “is there another Ghost Detective around?”
Major kudos for bringing us the most hilarious way of nearly killing a detective and sending him to get urgent surgery!

😂😂 Whaddya mean? I’m being honest! I swear!

I’m loving all beanie posts regarding GD 🤣🤣🤣
It need special talent to turn anything to be that level of hot mess

Special talent! Exactly what I’m saying… 😂😂 I’m seriously so impressed! How on earth did the writer do it??

      1
      0

Sigh, I lose focus started from ep where Sunwoo was stabbed by Da-il, it went downhill afterwards.

    3
    1

I was wondering when exactly it went wrong… This is it!!!! Thank you! I waa actually patient because I thought it couldn’t get any worse that this. Boy was I wrong. When the lawyer and the reporter did that stupid thing, I lost all my cool. That’s it GD, you and I are no longer friends.

      I wouldn’t know… LOL

      1
      0

This scene got a new ost (not played yet during the drama) and I’m pretty sure that it’s Jung Joon-Il singing it <3 .
So far only 2 ost have been released and I think with that new one there are 3 ost already played but not released yet (I'm waiting for the one in English <3).

side note : I replied on another post : that early confession scares me, how are you planning to break our heart writer-nim T_T

      4
      6

I love Soo-yeon so much for all his honest (sometimes raw) answers. And it actually surprised me that Yeo-reum ask that question so early in the story.

    6
    1

“And it actually surprised me that Yeo-reum ask that question so early in the story.”
I’m glad you’re bringing that up Gadis.

When seeing the scene, my thoughts were :
      1) kyah~ he said yes <3 *happy dance*
      2) he said yes but we're just at episode 5 (if we count one-hour ep, gosh I hate the 30min ep count format), only at ep5, not a good sign, writer-nim what are you scheming behind the scene
      3) omo omo the ost <3
      4) but wait why did she ask THAT ? Wouldn't the usual behaviour to keep wondering why he does things for her and then asks him directly in a few eps ? …or I might have watched too many dramas haha x)

      5) ok another day of wait starts ^^'

      2
      1

I’m just going to enjoy how refreshingly honest these two can be. It’s a nice change to hear them blurting things out instead of bottling things up like the usual kdrama leads.

        3
        1

“refreshingly honest” indeed, I like it a lot, it’s just so unusual in a drama haha ^^’ .
Hoping we won’t have a classic noble idiocy down the road (or at least a very short one) if they keep being honest *fingers crossed*

side note : I suspect that he started to fall for her when she told him why she didn’t ask anything about his arm <3

        1
        1

Lol same here! Six dramas and only one ep behind… Until today. Have yet to watch fox and 100 days. So that’s 3 eps. I’m pretty sure they’ll keep piling. Lol

This was cuteeee. But they keep mentioning the cat! why do they keep mentioning the cat?? *nervoussss*

12
6

He expected the cat to leave.
He is just emotionally unavailable or chooses to not form bonds with another living.
Why?? It could be a simple answer that he was an orphan/emotionally unavailable etc etc or he is a man with a tendency to kill and so stays away from the living.

    2
    1

If he had a tendency to kill I don’t think he’d stay away from his urges. He’d have to give in eventually. Which makes me hope (since the cat is alive and no new murders) that he’s not a killer but that he may be emotionally stunted which is why he’s so manipulative. He can’t trust people so he uses them instead.

      0
      0

And the way he looks for the cat in the terrace. Kanga!! Did he almost worry the cat is gone even though he wanted the cat to leave.

    3
    1

Because they have to scare us. Animals, especially cats, and potential killers do not mix.

We have all heard too many stories of the “He was a quiet child, but the neighborhood cats kept disappearing. “

    3
    1

True, true! I think they are definitely trying to build the tension by showing us the cat in one scene and making it seem like the cat isn’t there anymore (when they panned the camera to show the orange box? outside Moo young’s room. I thought that Moo young had definitely done something to the cat and threw it inside… Or something.

I really don’t think she’s in danger.
My gut’s telling me he’s got the wrong woman. But who can that card be referring to?
More importantly, how is Bon going to get out of this situation with his nosy neighbours witnessing this scene? XD

21

Awwwww. It warms my heart to see Bon notice the little things Ae-ran does for her kids, without thinking, as a mother. It was nice of him to take care of her and make sure she’s eating too! ♡♡♡

Oh! I didn’t even notice that! It does look like it’s smiling haha. I’m curious too. I’m not going to read about it in case of spoilers so we’ll just have to wait and see. 🙂

can’t decide whether park eun bin or hong shim should get ‘the detective’ xD (btw idk if PEB plays a detective, dont watch the show just guessing)

    1
    1

Hmmm. I think Park Eun Bin should be the detective even though she’s not an actual detective lol. She does do more detective work than Hong shim so it fits her character. 😊

      1
      0

    Hong Shim = The Fugitive
Go Ae-rin = The Nosy Neighbour

    5
    1

Ooh I like The Nosy Neighbour!
But Hong shim isn’t really a fugitive is she..?

      1
      1

I think she technically is. Her father was publicly impugned as a traitor, and both she and her brother were supposed to be killed along with their father.

        1
        2

But didn’t her brother beg Master Kim to leave his sister alone? That’s probably why he agreed to work along side Kim.
But maybe she might be a fugitive again when Minister Kim finds out she knows the crown prince and so on..

          1
          1

I think the Left State Councillor’s agreement to leave her alone probably isn’t a pardon; it’s just an agreement not to enforce the penalty associated with her supposed crime. She points out to Yul in the last episode that she will have to live in hiding with her brother once he returns (I think either she or her brother said near the border with Great Ming), which suggests to me that she’s still on the run in some way.

            1

Right. Yes, that makes sense. 👏

I loved this scene so much!
I’m glad Yoo-reum stood up for herself instead of apologising when she wasn’t even in the wrong. I was more mad at the surrounding male supervisors then I was at this woman. I get that Yoo-reum just transferred here and they see this as her creating a problem. But I hated that they put her down in front of everyone and didn’t even bother to listen to her.
I’m grateful for her team leader for being proud of her. I didn’t see that coming.
And can I just take a moment to swoon at our adorable cyborg?? Swooooon for not only thinking ahead but also for not ignoring our heroine like he used to. I guess she’s growing on him. 😉😁😁

18
8

Yes- we are starting to see her character development and growth as a woman. She was just too over the top at the beginning to keep on with how she was.
And yeah for her boss who told her “good job”!

    3
    1

I would like to say that she was over-eager. Eager to please her bosses, eager to do a great job, to be complimented. This was all good but because she was over eager she didn’t realise that it could get her into trouble.
From her perspective it’s all about timing. She was transferred as a trouble-maker and no one’s bothered to give her the benefit of doubt. The male boss had a list of reasons why they shouldn’t keep her in their team when he hadn’t even met her! No wonder she wanted to please everyone from the get-go!

      7
      1

He’s so handsome in the last picture. His little smile set my pulse racing.

I teared-up at this scene. Way to go Han Yoo-reom!

Thank god she asked for an apology instead. I would’ve been so frustrated otherwise.

Seo In-guk never disappoints, does he?
He’s one of the few actors who always comes out with a great role in a great drama. He’s just so immersed in this role and that scares me a bit. Please don’t be evil! Can I even trust you??

I love that Jung So-min came back with another spunky but professional character. I like how she doesn’t sway easily to our hero’s tunes like her naive friend. Her relationship with her brother is already the best thing ever!

As expected, Hundred Million Stars had the best opening episodes of the latest batch of dramas.

With the flood of new dramas it was difficult for me to hold on to Life. But hold onto it, I did.

Was it the cast? The plot? The characters? Maybe a bit of all three. But mostly because I was curious about the people. How were they going to survive another day at the hospital? I was disappointed that we spent so much time on hospital/business politics yet I was intrigued enough about the characters to keep coming back. There was a steady almost magnetic pull everytime President Gu butted heads with our hospital staff. And I loved every minute of it. I came in think he was THE villain but was pleasantly surprised that this isn’t your typical show with good vs evil.

The ending could’ve been better (especially how they resolved Gu’s storyline… And where was his secretary?? She was my fav character!), and I’m glad our Dr Ye got some time off with his brother because boy does he need to cool down a bit! It was funny that he was shooting daggers at the new president but the boy’s gotta chill. Don’t make another enemy!

Overall, I’m glad I stuck with the show. 💖💖

Something light to sum up how I felt about the show:

17
11

Aww, I’m glad you like it. Life is quite unusual for kdrama and it’s one of my fave this year. Also, it doesn’t hurt that I get to see Lee Kyu-hyung playing a rare character like Sun-woo.

    4
    2

does he survive the show..without going through some kind of irrevocable pain

      0
      1

He survive the show with a happy enough ending. Tbh, I wish the writer didn’t turn him into a punching bag halfway through the show, but since in the end he is content with what he got, it’s good enough for me.

        1
        0

Lee Kyu-hyung plays unusual characters very well and I can’t wait to see more of him!

      1
      0

Great that you liked it. The characters not being entirely evil was the best part of the show. Well we cannot say that for the chairman but at least President Gu. Plus someone finally posted a photo with Choi Su Hyeon. This was my first time seeing this actress but I was surprised that she has been acting for quite a while in films mostly. She and Won Jin ah have become the actresses I’ll definitely look out for.

    3
    1

The chairman is in another world entirely! It’s a pity they didn’t make him balance his bad side with good. It’s like they’re saying there are people who are 100 % bad and we can’t do anything about it. In a way it’s true… I guess?

Yes! I really really liked her. I’ve never seen her before but I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for her. And Woh Ji Nah is a gem! 💎 I enjoyed her performance a lot in Just Between Lovers.

I’ve read some spoilers and i think i have the basic ideas about the ending but I’m taking my time watching this in between the other ongoing dramas.. I came for LDW but now start to shift my loyalty to Mr Gu 😂 i really love him being so unsure about himself, unconsiously fidgety when No eul is around

    1
    1

That was my plan but with so many new dramas I felt like I’d never get to finish Life. So I sat down yesterday and binged the last 3 eps. Now I don’t feel guilty starting the new shows. 😂

Truthfully I came for everyone hehehe. There’s just so many actors here that I love and I couldn’t miss it for anything.
Yes, Gu’s scenes with No eul was adorable. It brought the best out of him! ❤
