Is this a rhetoric question? SK’s general drinking culture has been steady from time immemorial. And if what happens in movies/series is what happens in real life which I am sure it is, I’m surprised you’re asking this.
Finding a KDrama with a healthy drinking culture is like sunrise meeting sunset: it doesn’t exist.
Drinking is part of the Koreans’ routine – a constant in their lives. I don’t think what we’ve seen in dramas is an exaggeration at all.
Whenever I go on work trips to Korea, drinking is in the itinerary – after the official dinner, people are most excited about the second and third rounds = drinking at different venues with different drinking theme.
Also, if getting a gift for Korean friends, a bottle of whiskey is always welcome – better than some high end chocolates.
This far into the show they should have gone through all of the reasons to get drunk. I’m waiting to watch- hope I will want to by the end. A lot of people dropping it this week
This show does seem unrepentantly pro-drinking as a solution to every problem and oblivious to any possible negative effects – even those that have been shown in other recent dramas.

Koreans drink that much? Really? Watching Doctor Slum this weeks’ episodes and sooo much drinking involved again like many other dramas.
