Beanie level: Water maid

DDSSLLS should have ended with Ra-Ra being happy that he’s alive, and then going about her business. That’s real. Nobody anywhere would stand for this level of gaslighting. What a waste of time.

Tired of noble idiocy. Tired of Antepenultimate Character Regression Syndrome. DDSSLLS, I am tired. We’ll pay whatever ransom to have Jun back. Thanks.

I’ve seen a lot of noble idiocy in my time watching kdramas but that takes the cake as one of the most idiotic noble idiocies I’ve seen. What the hell, Jun?

I haven’t seen episode 14. That will be tomorrow but as soon as I saw the cliffhanger at the end of episode 13 I thought now we enter filler territory. 3 episodes to go. Writer-nim, message from the field, “I am concerned!”

    I’m scared to watch this…
I’m in need of a hint: is the whole “shady secretary when Ra Ra’s dad died” plot finally resurfacing, now that the Writer has put all the cute stuff in the pie?

    1

Uh… It does… But maybe not in the way you’d expect. That was one of the best parts of the ep! Hahaha.

      2
      1

Yes. The “Secretary” looked like he had a ball doing those scenes.
Now hoping it is not a total fake out.

HSM is bloodless S2 of FOS2. S1 saw a tighter script and brisk pacing. 10 eps in and the story is scattered and angling for a S3. Disappointing.

1
1

I don’t think S2 is plotted for a S3 (even though I will gladly accept another season). Rather, against the expectation of some audience, FoS2 is much more complex than FoS1. It doesn’t have ‘a’ case at its core with however ‘judicial power’ being the central piece. This is in fact a continuation of the theme from the first season, except it goes deeper and touches on the systemic issues which are million times harder to solve than ‘a’ case.

The exhaustion and frustration in SM and YJ is palpable. It’s quite exciting to see the different threads now being pulled together. I have a feeling that some threads are related but some are not – but ultimately the ‘system’ fails a lot of people, be the boys on the beach, the police who committed ‘suicide’ or the mysterious death of the prosecutor.

It is perhaps not what some fans expect but I enjoy the intellectual challenge tremendously. The writer sets out a hard task to accomplish and she has certainly succeeded up to this point. Bravo to her tight and confident writing!

If anyone is watching Itaewon Class or wants to but isn\’t sure, please read the Soompi forum thread for measured, intelligent analysis. Kind of worried about the quality here.

I feel like getting a graduate certificate in Psychology and leaving it in the comments for Itaewon Class.

Netflix US didn\’t license \’My Country: New Age\’ for the full 16 episodes. What a joke.

1
9

Really? How many episodes will be available on Netflix?

    0
    1

Currently it says 12. Usually they supply a list of when the episodes will be airing, and there is no list.

      0
      2

Ooo…I just think that’s a new thing on Netflix.

Vagabond initially had a list for future eps and upcoming release dates too, but now the list is gone. I vaguely recall seeing viewers complain that on Netflix list the new Vagabond episode was supposed to be released on a certain date. But in actuality the episode was suddenly postponed in Korea, however the list on Netflix remained the original schedule. Unlike Netflix originals like Kingdom, most (if not all) dramas can only be aired on Netflix after it is aired in Korea.

Same goes to dramas that suddenly have additional episodes or reduced episodes. Imo rather than having a list that will need constant updating, it’s easier to remove the list altogether.

WTF. I’m trying to look into it too, but I’ve never heard of Netflix only uploading part of the season when they’re suppose to have the full 16 episodes… UGHHH I forgot this show was on Netflix tbh.

I wonder if they’re gonna upload later than JTBC/South Korea’s air date because EP 13 did air during the normal tv schedule.

    3
    1

According to What’s On Netflix, they’re airing the episodes a day behind this week. We’ll see if that’s true.

Maybe if they catch on a little more in the US we’ll have access to more of them? It was kind of like a Viki/Netflix advertisement.

    1
    1

Yeah, that’s troubling when there’s only two places to legally stream subtitled dramas. If ODK offered more subtitled current dramas, it would outpace Viki for sure.

Wow this sounds like written by a super-fan! Great article! I was very surprised and happy to see Best Love and City Hall recommended, as both of them are usually the least recommended show of their respective writers. The explanations about finding happiness through family and friends were spot on.

Realizing my age while watching \”The Third Charm\” and reading the comments here and other forums. Have we really gotten to the point where we only watch drama to escape and not to analyze?

It’s always been 50/50 for me. I don’t want to analyze everything. Some things you just want to enjoy the ride.

Saaaaaaaame. I’m so sick of the comments against YoungJae. I don’t whether to sigh that they’re naive or be happy that they’re blessed to not know what it feels to have lost people after people and take hit after hit.

    Am I really that old???

    1
    1

Yes, we’re that old. Naivete is a luxury we can’t afford. I just wish people would just do what I do when I can’t stand something — change the channel. Like, there’s so much less demanding things out there. Go watch it.

The worst is almost upon me: DF has put all streaming of new shows on hiatus. The slouching beast of capitalism has set its sights on Kdrama. Ottoke.

7

😭😭😭😭 Have they said how long the hiatus will last?

    2
    1

No!!!! Just “postponed until a later date.” Which makes me really nervous.

      1
      1

And “please be patient”. Apparently they aren’t familiar with their K-drama watchers. We know what time it aired in South Korea. We have no patience.

I decided to watch Bad Papa on Viki first, but if they haven’t got 100 Days Prince up by tonight, reprieve is over. I’m perfectly happy to pay to watch my shows legally, but if you won’t give me my shows? I do know where else to go.

I’m about to cancel my Sub. I have heard some conflicting things. I also saw this on reddit today:

I read that and it seems they don’t understand how Kdramas actually work. I think it’s time to drop DF so the powers that be understand they can’t mess with kdrama addicts.

Netflix hasn’t clued in all the way yet either.

        4
        1

They had the right idea with Mr. Sunshine, but that’s because they co-produced it and snapped up the distribution rights out of the gate.

Netflix is sitting on a streaming gold mine if they can ink a deal with tvN, OCN, and/or JTBC for same-day or next day streaming.

I really really hope this is just a temp thing, and they aren’t really trying to make me binge watch. Cause I can’t just take my money and go home — I have an annual subscription that just renewed last week! I mean . . . I could not renew next year, but that doesn’t send any type of message.

        Maybe I could ask for a refund . . .

        1

I would try. Tell them that you didn’t mean to review or talk to your bank of CC company and reject payment.

I read that too but I’d be surprised if that has any bearing on the current absence of new dramas airing.

I was happy because after a dry spell, DF was actually getting the license to quite a few dramas and then this happens. Sigh.

    2
    1

I read that Warner is doing some direct streaming reorganization nightmare to begin next year. I think the issue is effecting DF with regards to licensing.
