So happy that MY AHJUSSI was awarded BEST TV DRAMA and BEST SCRIPT at the Baeksang Awards!!! I love that until now, it is still winning awards, almost a year after it was first shown!! Crazy! ❤️️
I really miss this show, it was such AN EXPERIENCE to watch it and it really ruined me for other Korean dramas. Unfortunately (?), it has made me become pickier, and I now easily bore/tire of the “usual” dramas 😔
Since My Ahjussi, the only 2 korean shows I’ve watched were Live and Kingdom 😳 😖
Yes! The OST was spot-on as well, great great tracks. Til now every time I listen to An Ordinary Day I get teary-eyed. It’s my fave along with Dear Moon ♥
The first gif is me when I can’t wait any longer for new episodes of a drama I currently am obsessed with…. Which doesn’t happen very often because I’ve been watching dramas for so long that hardly any plot/trope, cliffhanger gets to me, so when it DOES happen, you know I got it baaaaaaaad XD
Kingdom Ep 2: Finally understood the reason they’re keeping the king alive. Damn.
This show is soooooo good! I’m loving it so far. Tightly written; the acting, no questions asked; the cinematography and background music – so on point. I am trying to devour this slowly and not binge it at once. I am dreading the massive cliffhanger of the last ep knowing that this is gonna be in multiple-seasons format.
I am liking Yeong-sin, I’m not sure I’ve seen the actor anywhere else. I am also glad that Joong-ki passed on this (no diss intended) ‘cos Joo Ji-hoon gives the Crown Prince’s character some grittiness/realism/gravitas that Joon-ki’s pretty-man looks may not convey as well
Agree about Ji hoon. If Joong-ki would have accepted, it would have felt….different and I don’t think he would have gelled with the rest of the cast. He would have stuck out for the wrong reason, ya know.
True. I mean I like Joong-ki… I just feel like he may not be able to act on par with such veteran casts as Bae Doo-na and Ryu Seung-ryong. Man, just their presence alone exudes charisma! I’m happy it was Ji-hoon ‘cos I consider him quite a veteran too, with all the really good movies he’s done
I am also very enthusiast about this, and I only watched two episodes. I have to say they are doing a great here. Visually it’s really beautiful and the first episode was well written because I didn’t think the pace was long like it is most of the time when you start a show. I am going to try to not binge-watch neither but that’s going to be hard to resist if they keep this up!
Finally, it’s here! Writer Kim Eun-hee alone had me waiting excitedly for this when the initial news broke, let alone the addition of each super talented veteran cast! ♥ Plus 6 eps is an easy commitment. Will be watching this to break my Korean drama slump, the last drama I watched was May 2018! 😱
There is a reason NJTTW is my fave: These stars separate are just meh for me (except Mino cos Mino is love) but TOGETHER, my favorite! ❤ It’s the Na PD magic. I love that Mino and Ahn Jae-hyun were rediscovered as variety geniuses. This game made me laugh so much 🤣 It’s my first time watching PO too.
I’m hoping this will help me jump back into watching kdramas. I’m in one of my drama-slump cycle. Not even just dramas, but korean-media slump as a whole (including kpop and variety shows): I went cold turkey. Last drama was Live, right after My Ahjussi around May. It’s like what’s new? Have I watched too much dramas to be so easily dissatisfied by the tropes? My kpop playlist is gathering dust. Heck Winner and Dean came to my country and I can’t believe I didn’t go. 😳😭 Just preposterous 😞
The halbaes are back!!! 😍😍😍 Ah, I missed this show! And there’s a new maknae grandpa too! I forgot how adorable they can be! I love how they keep holding hands in the first ep ❤❤❤
It has this ability to make me tear up at the most unexpected times: I’m watching in neutral emotions-mode and then the character says or does something and then split-second BAM, tears just fill my eyes and I’m like WTH. Reminds me of when I was watching Prison Playbook. lol
It’s funny and heartwarming and heartbreaking, and it’s as thrilling to watch them arrest a drunk driver as watching a detective hunt for a killer. More often patrol police officers are relegated as extras in the dramas I’ve watched for the more ‘glamorous’ detectives that solve the crimes which are ripe for meatier plot, but here they take center stage.
It’s a drama but man it feels soooo real! It’s making even ME question how I see police officers in real life. It seems such a thankless job too! You know how something that seems simple and mundane belies its importance because it’s easy to take for granted? This drama is making me think of and feel all these!
Since they’re the first responders, the ones directly in contact with civilians, it may seem like they do the simplest tasks, but their life is on the line every time. And their job title alone kind of makes people set up a higher bar of expectations for them to meet, sometimes forgetting that they’re human too. It breaks my heart every time they get yelled at or are unfairly treated 💔
Any drama that transcends the screen to portray something that is LIFE is a gem in my book. 👍❤️️
Oi, if looks could kill! Lol! On Ep 5 and I’m loving Live so far
In his earlier dramas, I found it hard to kind of separate Lee Kwang Soo from his Running Man character versus his drama characters ‘cos I kept seeing him as he is in RM. It got better with his most recent dramas, esp in Dear My Friends but this one feels like he’s a full-fledged actor on his own now.
Not just him, the whole drama is a talent-studded cast. I’m loving Bae Seong-woo too 👍 👍 👍
I really sympathized with his Entourage character. He played a budding actor who accidentally got cast on a variety show and was filmed in a humiliating situation. He couldn’t get offers for serious roles, because everyone wanted him to play his variety character.
I wonder if Lee Kwangsoo inspired that bit of the character with his own experience. He was a relatively unknown actor who was cast on RM and everyone wanted to see that same character in their dramas instead of serious roles.
He’s just so amazingly funny in RM that he’s very memorable that way. It doesn’t help that his body and thus his gestures are made for physical comedy so it kinda got in the way of me seeing him as a drama character before.
He suits more serious roles like these, ones that are humorless types. I’m happy that writer Noh seems to have taken a liking to him and keeps giving him these opportunities ❤️️
After My Ahjussi, I needed something light and feel-good to get out of the emotional state it left me in. I was thinking of starting either Mother or Live but I thought it might be too much if I watched them right after the other 😁
I decided to pick-up where I left off with A Love so Beautiful. That Epilogue in Ep 1 definitely got me! Worth watching for the lead couple alone: heroine was adorable (I loved it when she cried) and the male lead was the epitome of the geniussssss tsundere character that is my catnip (why is this guy so handsome? Why?!!)
It made me laugh that their faces couldn’t both fit in the same close-up frame. Cookie-cutter story but the romance was sweet enough to make me smile and they had the chemistry to make my heart flutter. ❤️️
The rest: editing, story flow, and character development were meh. I had to keep reminding myself to stop thinking so I don’t get frustrated 😜
I don’t know what I’m doing to myself by watching 1987 right after My Ahjussi. smh
The movie though, was exceptional. Inspiring, and all the more heartbreaking that it’s based on true events and people. I was surprised at the number of actors involved and I loved Yeo Jin Goo and Kang Dong Won’s cameos.
That’s it, it’s over. How do I move on? My heart was broken and put back together bigger and shinier than before. What a lovely and inspiring story this was! 💗💖
To this date, I consider Signal as the best drama of all time – story, execution and acting: on a whole different level. My Ahjussi is tied with it now, and it makes sense coming from the same genius director. PD Kim Won Seok, I am a forever fan. Lee Sun Kyun, I am a forever fan ❤
