Beanie level: Water maid

Finished Just Between Lovers and I’m at a loss for words. Gang Doo and Moon Soo managed to break my heart several times, but I’m happy that they found solace in their relationship and they can heal their tragic past wounds together. Throughout the show I just wanted to give them a hug and say ‘everything’s gonna be alright’. They truly deserve all the happiness in the world.

PS: every girl deserves a guy who says “…how could you be prettier as time goes by” 🥺🥺🥺

    I miss them 😭❤️ I think I need a rewatch.

He was so sweet and a true gentleman! Something I find very rare in dramaland. And he was sensitive and aware of MS’s feelings. Absolutely love him! There has yet to be a male lead that outshines Kang Doo.

One of the many things I love about Gang Doo is that he always, every single time, held MoonSoo by her hand. Not a single wrist grab. He was always so delicate to her.

Is this one good? I think the dialogue sounds a bit cheesy…

Totally recommend this! It sounds cheesy, but their relationship is far from being cheesy. ML is totally boyfriend goals 🥺

I heard many Beanies also said it was good. (Don’t tell anyone) I was reluctant because I’m not drawn to Junho that much.

*gasp* you’re saying this to someone who adores Junho lol but jokes aside this drama was actually my introduction to Junho. I was reluctant to start it as I am with many idol actor dramas. I had not an ounce of familiarity with him but his performance entirely won me over. His portrayal of PTSD was phenomenal and so nuanced. Won Jinah is also great. But ya’ know, it might not be for you and that’s totally okay too. 🙂

*teehee* I realized somehow that there were a lot of Junho fans here, so I didn’t want to say this. I know some people just don’t like Kim Seon-ho, too, but that’s ok. I respect your love for Junho.
Noted about the PTSD thing; I’m not sure I’m ready to handle that. But if I ever do, I’ll think about your recommendation and perhaps try it. ๐Ÿ™‚

@mmmmm I understand. There are other actors that are raved about by beanies but I just can’t bring myself to like them…I tend to keep it to myself lol. But I love your love for KSH because I also love KSH haha.

Just think that this drama was the one who got into Junho to so many beanies.
Donโ€™t watch it if youโ€™re not convinced, but itโ€™s really worth it.

M, they are not cheesy at all.
As I told you once, this drama is about two wounded people who learn to live instead of just surviving.
The way they heal and care for each other and the way you see their relation grow is one of the best Iโ€™ve seen in dramaland. Iโ€™m not going to lie, it will hurt in the way, and you will cry, but he warmth it will give you, makes it up for all the tears.
I wonโ€™t say itโ€™s Navillera, but I can assure is that kind of healing drama.

Hi Eaz. I donโ€™t know what got to me, but I am feeling a bit tired of romance dramas these days. I have heard rave reviews about this one, and Iโ€™ll make sure I give it a go someday. I normally drop a drama quickly if it doesnโ€™t match my mood at that moment, so weโ€™ll see. Anyway, thanks again for the recommendation! ❤️

I’ve just finished my rewatch and loved it even more!
It’s such a beautiful drama, and both GangDoo and MoonSoo are so adorable, you only want to protect them and tell them they have the right to be happy, they’ve done nothing wrong!
Having said this, keep an important amount of tissues by your side. You’ll need them.

I can’t handle the chemistry between SIG and PBY. It’s really too much. It should be illegal! I can’t stop swooning over them. I need help!!!

I’m so glad this pairing happened in this drama under the director both of them have worked with. Thankfully it’s not Abyss or TSHLYE. Their chemistry is perfect, so is their acting but their hand holds are the best.

Totally agree!!! And there hand holding is just…ahh I don’t have words to describe how beautiful it is.

Such a good show. I have so much I want to say about this show, but for now I just will say that every story in this show was beautiful as well as heart-wrenchingly sad. I think I will re-watch the drama frequently.

One question I do have: is there going to be a sequel? The way episode 10 ended makes me think so.

I wish DB would recap each episode because I could write an essay about each one.

Who knows? They left an opening but it feels complete too if there is not a second season. I suppose it depends on how many people watch.

      7
      1

Same! I have strong thoughts about most of these stories. Even the most mundane of these stories — the tale about the mother with dementia who wanted to buy her son a suit — is beautiful and heartbreaking. I find myself wanting to write a lot about these episodes, too, and, if a recap doesn’t go up, I might post some lengthy thoughts on my fan wall at some point.

I just finished and am still crying, but I donโ€™t regret a thing. Itโ€™s truly rare for drama to be so beautiful and moving.

I was thinking the same… it’s really a precious drama, one of my favorites… I was pushing back the rewatch to a more relaxing time to savor it better…
Probably I’ll rewatch shutting the real world out and focusing on characters and not on actors…

It’s a separate the art from the artist scenario. I think you can still watch and adore the show, but albeit in a different light now ๐Ÿ™ And I was actually thinking of finishing the show a while back lol. Time is the ultimate healer. I think a few weeks or months from now, with more clarification, it will be easy to watch the show as its own entity and not get too into the actors involved in it :/ Sighs…disappointing wouldn’t even cut my reaction to this whole news. As I said, on a vapid note, it does feel like we lost a really charismatic/talented actress, and its awful that it has come down to this.

    3
    2

I really hope that time will heal. And yes, she indeed was a promising actress and I was eagerly looking forward for her work. This whole scenario is really disappointing

Time is truly the ultimate healer. But yes, this whole scenario has unleashed so many bad things to come into light (rumors, facts, and etc). I’m speechless to say the least. I thought she was a shy, serious, and charismatic individual in real life. Outside of that, she was also very private too. I was super looking forward to her and Kim Nam Gil as well.

Reminds of Seolhyun’s scenario too, but in that, they didn’t replace her (this was before this became a trend w/ bullying gate happening a few months ago). Had that happened now, no way would Seolhyun be still in Awaken. It does give me a side eye that Ha Jung Woo (who had a huge drug case) who should’ve went to jail (Park Si Yeon had a similar case, but her dosage was lower than HJW’s), and yet b/c of $$/power, HJW was able to bury the case/Covid-19 coming. Timing really plays a role, after elections in Korea, there was a lot of media coverage around and this just happened to fall into the bait. Now, its being publicized in news stations in Korea ://

I think he final nail in the coffin were those damning texts, had they not been released, many would’ve speculated it was her, but it would’ve been left as just rumors nothing more. I recall before those texts came out, there were some whisperings that she was the supposed gf, but SYJ’s reps said she’s still going to attend the press call, so I thought huh ok! Sorry for the wordy rant lol!

IA. She really shot her foot with this one ๐Ÿ™ If not, she would’ve gone on to a long and great career in both films and dramas. Of course, she could pop up like many do after some time off, but her career esp. as a woman is long/far gone now. Highly disappointed that it has come down to this ๐Ÿ™

I agree with you. KMY was one of my favorite characters to date and this makes re-watching IOTNBO a bit hard given the recent issue. I was also actually looking forward to Island when SYJ was announced as lead. I recently saw an article saying how other 90liner actresses are much better than her. Maybe yes, personality-wise, but acting-wise SYJ can act circles around those mentioned. I hope the issues get sorted out and the personalities involved reflect, apologize properly, and work on being better human beings.

If this were Hollywood, they would be fine. Different cultures. If Emma Roberts is still able to work (and she actually got booked but those charges were dropped), then honestly yeah. OCN/Studio Dragon said no comment on her being dropped from the show today. So I guess, everyone’s hoping that this lies down until another bigger scandal arises. This is why actors sue/stop/pay for stories to be stopped, many should learn from SJK’s/SHK’s settlements to see how its done. I just feel like iffy, while I don’t think she should be thrown to the wolves/blacklisted, I think she needs to atone and work on her behavior (relationships wise), of why she acts that way in them. In terms of talent, she’s an amazing actress, full of charisma and glamour for her age. I do think she should have one final apology, atoning for her actions, saying that she wasn’t a supportive gf at the time, apologize to Time staff/Seohyun, and take action for her remarks. But dunno?! If K-netizens have shown me is, after some time has passed, people start to care less/forget. I mean, if Lee Jin Wook, is leading a 40-50 million dollar tvN romance drama, then anything is possible.

But yes IA. Clearly something was off, for this to transpire leading to the Time debacle. While those texts have shown us some of the reasoning, we don’t know the full/bigger picture. Like why was she so insecure about him being around women? Like, is she that insecure/scared they’re going to steal her thunder? Unfortunately, I’ve heard even big Hollywood talents that are like SYJ, but diff cultures lol. It is after all, a crazy/awful industry, and I wouldn’t say SYJ nor KJH’s of the industry are rare. I think both of them need to work on themselves first, and esp. SYJ (in dating/b/c gurl that’s not it).

        1
        1

Sad thing is K-ent is somewhat harder on the women. Bums me to see the likes of Park Shi Hoo and Lee Byung Hun still able to make a comeback despite more serious and troubling scandals. And there are quite a plenty in the K-pop scene.

Re. SYJ, if true, I agree with you that she has to come out with a full and sincere apology and promise to work on whatever her issues are. KJH already released his and made no mention of her so I guess there is still bad blood there. Many consider him a victim but it is quite obvious to me that his camp released those private SMS exchange to Dispatch. It is actually surprising to me how much power he wielded during the filming of time to change the script when he wasn’t even a big actor back then. More surprised, if true, as to how much he let SYJ control him. Really a sign of someone with mental issues and who should not be in a relationship, much more a toxic one. And this all came out because of a contract dispute with his agency.

          1
          1

Your reply is everything I wanted to say!! It 100% is, everywhere its harder for women but yes in Korea esp ๐Ÿ™ Even top stars like Gong Yoo and Jo In Sung have said starting out, they were arrogant and rude, and it made them lash out on people/fans (GY). I think SYJ had a case of diva behavior/etc, & insecurities. Ah, a shame, as she’s such a talented/charismatic actress. I really do hope she can take the time off to amend her ways/work on herself, and comeback. But I do feel like, b/c she has high pride, I don’t know how she’ll? Sigh, I do feel like we lost a really talented performer, but man SYJ, why?! She has time to change still.

PSH/LBH oof, right?! They’re very lucky that this happened before the SNS surge online. PSH had a hit drama last yr (He also said creepy comments about his FL there about nudity/her EW). He was criticized by netizens, but what happened, nothing. Sometimes, I feel like things get overblown to K-netizens reactions. As for LBH, besides the cheating, I’ve heard some incriminating stuff like his thing for young women/allegedly forcing a former baseball player(?) to take the blame for his actions. Even a top actor (Married to Kim Nam Joo) hasn’t acted in a while, after he testified against LBH in court, that he ordered an attack on someone. And CGTV was erased or something, its all connected (gov/K-entertainement.

I’m just perplexed at the whole text messages being revealed, holy SH!T?! I guess either KJH did to absolve himself completely off the issue, or his agency (most likely) released them. It does seem like for SYJ, its been hit piece/after hit piece. I worry for her mental sanity rn, its a witch hunt. It’s ridiculous. They’re human first, celeb second.

KJH and SYJ broke up for a reason. It was alleged that he went crazy/nuts over her to the point where he couldn’t see straight w/o her. That’s truly a toxic relationship. I think him not naming her, made sure not to add more fuel to the fire.

Right? I heard MBC during that Time issue, had work strikes/boycotts, so they were desperate. My thing is, why didn’t they replace him (seems like this happens a lot now lol :3 ), instead of letting him go on and force changes. All this for a rookie actor at the time?! His agency isn’t even that big either, just so strange. Those text messages being leaked is just awful, no matter what that’s an invasion of privacy and serious grounds for a lawsuit. So mortifying having your whole dating life/relationship/kink/issues laid out there for the world to see.

SYJ was an awful gf to KJH, and KJH fell prey to that. I think both of them were in lust/love at first, but as time went on, I think his mental issues/eating disorder + SYJ just made his condition worse. It’s unfortunate that this whole thing of him jumping ship to another agency has leaked all this is so sad. So many people got dragged in, and K-netizens are being awful rn, vilifying both of them to the point where I worry that we’re going to hear bad news.
