In my 2 years of Korean class, my teacher constantly had fangirl moments about heartthrob So Ji Sub that I could not understand, until recently. I watched Terius Behind Me this week, all is now clear.
And the lyrics – it’s everything! I rarely, rarely look up English translations of OSTs, but this drama has got me searching youtube for the meaning of its OST lyrics. They’re all beautiful and totally depict the characters. The latest OST, Rainbow Falling, is very much Kyungsuk:
“With Unknown expression, I might not be able to tell you everything, but the time we made wasn’t light at all,
If it weren’t for you, if it weren’t for you,
what colour would my world be painted now?
I used to be covered in a grey light
Though I lack so much, I want to do a good job this time”
I`m glad Something has English lyrics in it and we could all tell how it’s pretty much them couple in the song!
Also, during the initial episodes of their ‘attraction phase’ we had ‘Something’ played often. But when the feelings got deeper we had more of the D-Day OST. They both fit the mood so well. I loved the transition which was captured by the OST.
@13infamyss – wow! you looked up translation. I was just going with the music and mood. Will check out ‘Ranbow Falling’
Yes I noticed that too!!! And it’s mostly because D-Day is a song about dating and stuff!
Lmao! See what this drama has turned me into. I have no life outside it. 😭😭 Just like you, i wouldn’t really care what the Lyrics meant. If the OSTs are good, I dl them but not really looked them up. Last time I did this was Dream High with Kim Soo Hyun and Suzy.
But I found no satisfaction in listening to them alone, so watched them MVs with English translation on YT lmao. It all makes sense now how Something turned into D-Day and how Alwyas you and Rainbow Falling were the highlight OSTs of ep 11 and 12. The song True tells all about their relationship too. And it makes sense too that Perfume (You are my) is a song played for Mirae and CEO Na. Cuz the lyrics were perfectly written in what’s happening in the scenes.
I have to say – Kdramas have some of the best OSTs. Some of them are so good that all I can think of when I hear an OST song on Spotify it sparks memories of specific drama scenes!
On a separate note, I can’t wait for Mirae to take that daring step of confessing to Kyungseok. This is the only recent drama I’ve taken to re-watching eps within the same week just to make sure I don’t miss the subtle nuances.
Same. The long weekend that just past had me re-watch all 12 episodes! smh.
And one thing I missed, which was interesting, that parallels when Woo Young said Kyungsuk picks up fast on things. And that he either uses that to or against you (ie. closest friend and cry tears of joy). In ep 6, when Mirae called Yong Chul a trash before she walked out, he called Yong Chul out the same thing when he asked him to pay up for his food. When they were locked up in the room, he told her “you were awesome dealing with that trash”. then their co-worker who disrespected Mirae. He called him trash after he found out Mirae heard everything. All who treat Mirae unjustly are trash in his eyes cuz that’s who they are in Mirae’s. It’s little things like this that makes me appreciate the drama more. You might think it’s nothing in the grand schemes of things, but it’s cute when you realize every single thing they do has a reference to what had happened previously.
There is good reason why this show garnered so much love. The attention to character details is amazing.
Never have I rewatched episodes. For this first time I watched a few episodes twice. I have to go watch the last 2 before the weekend.
I love KS Because he is not perfect either. He is also a kid trying to grow up. The world may perceive him to be perfect but he is far from it. That’s why am so scared he will do something stupid and upset people.
True. The first time I obsessed with OST was ‘Secret affair’. It was all classical music but I could feel every piece because I associated it with the drama.
I also liked ‘Liar and the lover’ songs.
Usually one or two songs make it to my Spotify list after a kdrama watch. Right now I like ‘Time’ OST and Gangnam.
Feels good to be drawn back to dramaland by the most recent crop of shows. Finished Whats Wrong with Secretary Kim and Are You Human just last week – both shows didn\’t quite satisfy. Whats next?!
Thanks for the recommendations! I started watching 30 but 17 recently and really liked it – mainly cos that’s how I feel most of the time! Shin Hye Sun is so adorably convincing and Ahn Hyo-seop is killing it as Chan. Still not 100% convinced of Woo-Jin as a character but I’m hoping for a Yang Se Jong redemption after Temperature of Love cooled off considerably towards the end.
I finally found subs for Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food and binge-watched the hell outta the first 2 eps. My fave part – Sohn Ye Jin jamming to 2NE1. EPIC!
She reminded me of myself, occasionally caught by others jamming or singing really loudly to my fave songs haha. The secondhand embarassment is strong.
