DWY Ep 13…
That’s it! I am NOT live watching a show again!! I cannot wait till tomorrow, though I know from the JTBC drama youtube channel that things are not as bad as they seem!! I just want to keep watching this bunch of people!!
Each of these characters deserve to have their own stories, like an anthology. I need full arcs for NaYeon, JaeKyoung, Mommy, Wookie, GiDong, Ma and Gong… Even the harpies, maybe they calm down? Daddy also has sparks of good feeling, he told SY he does not care about the business, just take care of the relationship. They should make like 2 seasons, just exploring these stories, instead of focusing too tightly on the OTP romance, though I want more of that too.
But this is like an OBSESSION, waiting constantly for Wednesdays and Thursdays. Your truly shall stick henceforth to binging after the final recap goes up in DB.
Semma…I’m going to be honest with you about something you already suspect.
They’re going to try and make this feeling worse not better today.
I find there are two options that help me—they may not help you.
Option #1: You’ll find that when it comes time to start today’s episodes, you won’t really want to…so, don’t. Wait until next Wednesday to watch episodes 14-15.
Option #2: They’ll resolve at least one of the open-ended issues at about minute 20 today (don’t know which—probably whether or not Shin-yu is dead). STOP at that point and accept that at least one thing is going better. Then, pick up next Wednesday and watch the end of episode 14 before being able to go straight into 15.
Let me call some other Beanies over for their advice on this as well…I’d be interested in what they’d have to say too!
Oh, you know who else I know has experience with this… @darkcc
Cecee, I remember you doing a pause like this with HeartBeat, was it? Do you have advice from an expert on how to cope (by pausing) with a tense final four episodes of a live-watch?
@attiton! I’m good and catching up with everything!
Watching live is tricky because… well because the long, long, LONG week in between each episode. Who wants to wait a week to find out what happens? Yer, not me. I’ve got no patience.
Waiting until the end of a show before binge-watching it takes a similar amount of patience. Can there be anything more frustrating than starting a show full of excitement and mentioning it to someone who’s already 12 episodes ahead of you and who breaks all your hopes of a happy ending? However much one loves binge-watching, it’s tough to watch 16, 18 or 20 episodes in one night (I don’t know how long your nights are, but mine aren’t 20 hours long, to my greatest sorrow).
So, I tend to go the middle way.
I start watching shows a few weeks after everyone else. I usually watch 2 or 3 different shows throughout the week, so I can get 2 to 3 episodes in an evening (on good weeks). It’s the perfect mix of binge-watching and somehow still watching live because I’m not too stupidly late to comment on relevant recaps. This also gives me a long enough break to come up with my own theories and discuss things with Beanies. I usually still come across the latest scenes on social media, so I’m up-to-date enough to react to live comments.
Then, there are some (un)fortunate circumstances, such as Heartbeat where someone mentioned the tension was increasing in the last few episodes (way before the final episode). I was almost live watching it (with a few days delay) so I thought I’d pause until he tension is resolved… And since then, I’ve read the finale (I have no self-control) and I’m sort of happy that I paused before things took a turn for the … I don’t know what to call it, is it a turn for the most unexpected? I wouldn’t say the worse, but anyway, I don’t know what the hell that was. Yet, for me, reading the live reactions of other Beanies to something I hadn’t watched made it easier. I knew what was coming (mind you, I still haven’t finished watching that one… )
I did this with the Uncanny Counter 2 – started, stopped in the middle and then caught up towards the last few eps. But then, I was not so invested in part 2 of UCC as I was in part 1. Depends on the show and how much it pulls you in, I guess. DWY, I am literally fathoms deep.
@isagc Just watched HeartBeat knowing how it ended. Isa might have some thoughts for you, @darkcc, on whether or not it’s worth it to finish at this point!!
The last episodes are worse than the rest of the drama, and I’m not thinking of “you know what”, but they were worse in script and pace too. Too many tropes and filler content. I only wanted to watch our main couple together (and better without other characters around), but… the show took other way.
I don’t regret having watched it, though.
I concur with the above!! Especially with option 1 – I’ve done that many times in the final stretch of a live watch when it feels like I can’t take the angst/tension/trepidation, so I just end up saving the last two weeks to watch together.
I sometimes also just have an eye on comments/reactions here and on Reddit to get a gauge of what we’re headed for in the finale, which works for me because I don’t really mind spoilers and sometimes knowing a little about what’ll happen helps me watch more peacefully (or not watch if it’s an ending that sounds like something I’ll hate). If you’re in the ‘spoilers don’t phase me too much’ camp then this is something you can do too maybe! If you’re keen to know the tone without all the details though, I find Reddit to be better for that since spoilers have to be/usually are always redacted in comments, so you can still get a good idea of the emotions the episodes are eliciting without seeing the actual plot points and being spoiled.
I would that it were just the tension of the story, @attiton!
I honestly am not too fussed about that. But I keep wanting more… With bingeing, I can go on till the end and know there is no more… Technically should be the same, but somehow it isn’t. Sigh….
So, then a variation on option 1 would be better?? Your job today and tomorrow will simply be to get over the initial emotions…they’ll fade soon enough, and then you pick up on THURSDAY, being able to watch 14-16 in one glorious sitting!!! 😉
Oh it so does!!! Live watching isn’t the same without it. That’s why I wouldn’t be able to wait until the final episodes drop before watching – *so much more fun* with the ongoing posts here 👏
I don’t see a problem. Obsess away! Watch the episode as soon as it drops. Discuss endlessly on DramaBeans—and all the other sites if that’s not enough. Capture screenshots. Make glorious gifs, funny memes. And as you long for the next episode, just think you’re channeling Shin-yu. Still, if it isn’t enough, write your own fan fiction. I guarantee you it’ll be better than this script.

I have no managed to watch past ep 2 of Uncanny Counter 2. I tried so hard to like it, and I failed miserably.
