I must say it’s a bit jarring to come from Reddit (full of positive comments) to see the negativity here. I know everyone has a right to express opinions and I may agree with some of the criticisms but…
…is there anyone here who still loves CD? Or am I alone?
Lol at your post being right before my negative one.
As for the differences in opinion, I’m not surprised. r/kdrama and DB often have dissenting opinions in my experience. Not super active on reddit, but that’s my general take.
And about you enjoying the drama, you do you! I’m sure there are beanies who like the show. People typically find it easier to express frustration or negativity than if they’re enjoying without complaints. So I’d say the positive opinions are just getting drowned out, not nonexistent. And even that aside, if you’re liking the show, then just enjoy it and ride that wave. Forget the criticisms.
That’s very true, but I just wanna say, seeing criticism about something we like can dampen the excitement a bit, so it’s hard to simply “forget the criticism”.
But of course everyone has every right to express their opinions, both positive and negative, so it’s all fair game in the end ^^
I have not started CDiva yet, but I know some online friends who like it very much (they are not in DB). I don’t read their hidden comments (I want to binge-watch the show) but I know they are enjoying it.
There are some awesome moments.
I won’t say there is negativity, just frustration at – I didn’t sign up for this darkness i.e. domestic abuse and killing(?).
Reddit downvotes & buries every critical comment of the show, discouraging people from expressing their disapproval over any aspect of the drama. The only time you can actually see someone NOT adoring the show is in first episode recaps.
I thinks it’s unfair to reduce the more positive atmosphere on Reddit to the fact that negative opinions will be downvoted..I’ve read basically every comment and it’s not like everyone is just praising the show like bots, there are conversations and debates over there too.
Just the overall vibe is more positive ~
Personally, when I have just negative feelings about a show I remove myself from the conversation. So it make sense for someone to maybe leave more negative comments at the beginning and then just move on to something else, doesn’t it.
I definitely participate in Reddit discussions, but I would argue that often it very much becomes an echo chamber. Even in the second half of the show you can figure out whether the quality dropped based on the comments here, maybe because the Dramabeans audience has a harder time dropping the show or can trash everything from acting to plotline but still continue enjoying it.
I also rarely see here people fighting with ones that express unpopular opinions. On Reddit there might be 20 people hating on one background character and if one person says they like them, others would jump into replies to express disagreement (not even in a way to foster a further discussions). Granted, r/Kdramas is a lot better than most other subs on Reddit, but I do still think that the unlike button and automatic sorting function does not create a good environment for the fair assessment of the show.
So very true. DB is most definitely our very own warm and cozy corner of the internet. Here I can happily put up Team N as well as Team Potato posts which are equally well received with equal amount of love and non-antagonist friendly banter. In any other forum I would already be 👻
Anyone else feel like there’s a lot of good ongoing dramas that it’s a hassle to choose which to watch? I barely have enough time to read for my exams as it is.
Same! Been busy but now that it’s winter break, I have a but more time. Problem is so many of them sounds so good, I don’t know what to start with. I end up rewatching old favourites instead.

Still liking it, not a fan of the direction with Dad going murder-y but PEB is still lovely to watch.

I LOVE it. In fact, I’m obsessed. I haven’t loved a drama this much in a long time.

Me: Watches KBS Drama Awards to pick up any DYLB crumbs between Min-jae and Eun-bin.
Cameraman: Zooms out to include Min-jae’s reaction when Eun-bin says that Rowoon is her ideal type.
Me: 😁😁😁

Any ideas on who you think would win Daesang for KBS, SBS and MBC drama awards?

Don’t know who WILL win but I really think Lee Deok-hwa deserves the MBC one.
