I'll wait for @kurama to weigh in on the French (I lived in France for a time so I do speak the language, but I'm not truly fluent) but agree that Yoon-ah managed to string the words together fluidly even if her accent was thick. I also agree that the initial meeting on the cliff needed some editing ("You're crazy!" "No, you're the craziest!" grew tiresome pretty quickly). But I assumed the ointment was Neosporin or something similar (which still wouldn't have resulted in a miraculous recovery, but at least it would have made more sense than Vaseline doing the trick), and the fact that in the end, falling from that height resulted only in some wet clothes was silly and made me wish the protracted squabbling before the fall had led to the FL just deciding to jump off on her own.
But still, this one is charming so far.

The plot: (It’s been more than 20 years so I don’t remember many details, but this book stayed with me long after I finished it) The ML in the current time is a mathematician. He had a younger sister who was mentally challenged. When they were ~ 10 and 8 years old, on one occasion when they went out together, he failed to keep an eye on her and she was lost. During his childhood, he was friend to a girl (the FL) who has a physical disability (she has a crippled leg IIRC). They were two lonely souls who found solace in the other’s presence. All those years, the ML still tried to find his sister with no success. The ML and FL met again in the current time, each still carrying a haunting past, and there was no HEA ending in the book, although they loved each other.

The manhua Just Twillight. I really liked the FL in this one.
Anna Gavalda's Ensemble, c'est tout. It's the story of a woman who is an artist but for now she does housework to earn money. She meets Philibert (a fan of history) who lives in a big appartment with Frank as roomate, a cook in a restaurant. They all live together with Frank's grandma (they kinda kidnapped her from her retirement home where she was unhappy)I think the founded family theme would work well in a Kdrama. And the romance was nice.

I love Persuasion the most among Jane Austen's works and the Kdrama that has its vibe is Soundtrack #2.
Another book I'd love to see in Kdrama format is The bridges of Madison county.

Most of Georgette Heyer's Regency novels are great for romcom adaptations with a side of thriller.
Meanwhile, These Old Shades and The Masqueraders are perfect stories for beautiful makjang galore!

I'm not a fan of books and sadly it includes novels as well.
However, should there be one I want to see adapted into a drama, it'll be one I read titled The Second Wife.
It told the story of a young woman who married a widower. There was attraction on both ends, but somehow his love for his late wife is still standing strong and this caused problems in thier budding marriage. The Second Wife details her and her husband's journey from being a placeholder in his heart to a priority, just as he always has been in hers.

Plot details: ML is an actor in a theater troupe. He travels around the country and entertains the lower classes. He is suddenly revealed to be the (intentionally disfigured) son of a purged nobleman. After a palace coup his status is restored and he he has to return to aristocratic society.

The Man Who Laughs by Victor Hugo - it has a melodramatic plot, social commentary, tragic hero, and pure love. I imagine Yeo Jin Goo or Lee Jae Wook
as ML.

Really looking forward to have a look into this tonight! 👏 Give me all the gourmet-goodness. And a sprinkle of romance. And please a good ratio of comedy vs palace politics! (… ooooh, am I asking too much? 😅)
I miss a good k-drama lately, nothing caught my interest long enough not to be forgotten half-watched... 🫣😅 And I miss talking to you, beanies! 🥹
Hopefully in time for the recaps, I’m able to read all of your comments again (still cannot see any replies in my browser since the replies have been initially hidden, and there’s no button to show them either - so I’m still mostly on mute here…). Fingers crossed. At least the “Latest Comments” page seems to be back! Yay!

You are right, you too, @unaspirated , but still, remember that she wasn't even loved as a child, not even by her parents ... was she another adopted tool-child? She might as well have been, at least.
Only when people mistook her for So-young, did the other girls greet her.
But yes, the giving over of the ledger, and when she didn't even want to know the truth, that was not okay.
But I think maybe if I was her, I wouldn't have liked So-young either. So-young, who had the position Hwa-jin very much wanted, who had a parent who loved her, and who solved her problems by jumping into the lake.
And according to the the final episode (SPOILER ALERT!) , by jumping into the lake, have a man fix her situation AND make the King fall in love with "her" and then come back and enjoy that position as if it was her all along.
Pretending to have been in a well for a few minutes and pushed away the lid is little compared to what the returned So-young claimed as hers. (Not me being petty).

Yes, right? I am glad you see it, too.
I searched originally thinking it would be the same, remembering having seen faces like his on old yellow parchment, painted in fine, artistic lines.
But I think the pictures I found are actually typical ones, when I look at the results I got. "Typical" was not the same in Korea and in Japan.
If someone knows a lot more, they are welcome to correct me.

I should have used powerpoint, I'm sure.
My hubby said that, too, but at a point where I was in no mood to receive advice "should have" time. 😄
