Haha.. No, @midnight I haven't watched Miss Korea. Am I inaccurate about the trend of glossy lips in dramas? I think I might be 😂. Maybe, I said that from my vague remembrance of fashion in Bollywood movies that I was watching as a kid in the 2000s.

@joanna
Yes 💯!!!! “Vindication” is the perfect way to describe it!

He’d already experienced some hardship in his career prior to this incident— he made a career change at age 24 an went on a singing competition show and made his entertainment career debut at age 25 but ended up it’d a really discriminatory and ageist CEO at the management he signed with as a result of the show, and later chose to sue said CEO because she was actively hindering him from getting gigs, but ended up losing the lawsuit and had an out-of-court settlement instead— so it’s not that this cyber-bullying incident was his very first time experiencing the dark sides of showbiz, but it definitely was the more evil of the 2 evils he had to endure.
So as a fan, it hasn’t always been the greatest, either, seeing him go through all of these things, but as these experiences have made him stronger, it has also helped to prove that as his fan, I have made the right choice in becoming his fan, of being a fan of such a good person 😊

Haha yes Mother Bean!! It truly has been a long time coming 🥹 This will definitely be the thing that will stay on my mind for the next while ♥️

This will be your squee of the year as it’s been a long time coming. Such a shame that it took so long and took such a toil on family and friends. So sad to hear about Xiao Zhan‘s grandfather, nothing will make up for him not living to see this fantastic outcome for his grandson.

I hope Xiao Zhan can finally relax and rejoice knowing he has truly been vindicated.

Thanks for sharing, this sounds like my kind of drama. I have tried all my usual sources and it’s not on any of them. Netflix and Viki have quite a few J dramas so hopefully it will turn up but I am wondering if it’s done it’s run already so won’t be coming back.

Aww a girl can indulge in some wishful thinking, right? Ideally, I'd love if there were one recapper for every show, because the current team must be so overworked already with the number of dramas releasing every week now.

O/T and I haven’t watched MLJ’s episode 5 but re Jin Goo. Totally agree with your JG observation. Fwiw I thought Jin Goo gave his best performance in years in last year’s tvN drama THE AUDITORS (Viki US). He was terrific with mane of glory and all.

Just in case tagging in a reply doesn’t work tagging you into this comment too so you can see the message above.

Week 5 continued.
When I heard the age that grandma changed I was thinking how lucky to miss out on perimenopause! Then it dawned on me how I can suspend my disbelief to accept a woman switching into a man but still some elements of human biology were just seen as a given😂

I am not the only one who thinks random things as demonstrated in another drama. I was watching Love take two and two characters in their twenties are stranded in the countryside with a broken down vehicle when they hear voices. There is no sign of anyone so the first thing they think of is mountain gods and they both just accepted that as a rational explanation😂 They were more shocked when three people working in the field then stood up!

On MLJ catch up mode. I watched episodes 3 and 4 tonight. Episode 4 definitely was a plod unfortunately. The most exciting part of the two hours was the last couple of minutes of episode 4 Jin Goo (looking great with a not quite mane of glory) cliffhanger.

not supporting her perspective and it’s annoying enough for me to see let alone hear anything from her point of view. So I don't get what message they're trying to portray there.

Minju, definitely doesn't act like someone who's had a stalker and knows how bad it is to have someone imposing themselves on you. Just because she hasn’t seen his girlfriend anywhere why muscle in when Yunjae has at no point said that they've broken up. I don't know why she feels it's okay to behave the way she does she literally was talking like her stalker justifying why it should have been her not Jieun. Yunjae needs to draw the line VERY clearly, like he is carving it into concrete.

So I love that they showed grandma had female clothes so it would make sense that Jieun had something to wear but they should have shown them being way too big on her to make it more realistic. I am intrigued how the various versions of the transformation play out across the generations. If Jihun stays a man and they show him and Yunjae staying together as a gay couple does the curse end with Jieun or does it carry on through the sister as she is a carrier. I also wonder if Jieun changes back permanently if she would decide not to have children to avoid them having to endure this situation and the risk of them having to deal with a mum who could become a dad at some random point in the future.

I wonder if the issue for Yunjae is how can he go off and live his dream while Jieun is missing out on university and the writing life she loves. He is such a decent bloke that I feel that would be a bigger deciding factor than the thought of leaving her behind while he studies. I think he also wouldn’t leave her if she was rehabbing from a serious illness and it was unclear how successful that process would be. So while her gender issue is so hard for her to manage he wouldn’t just go and focus on himself even with her permission. I think he would feel like he was not doing what he would want someone to do for him if the situation was reversed.

Week 5

I loved the way Yunjae was during the fishing trip because he genuinely was treating Jihun like he was Jieun, and when Minju was saying "Help the right person," that was just perfect because his actions were like he was saying, "What are you talking about? Of course I'm going to help my girlfriend”. He genuinely just sees him as her now. I just really love the way they showed that not only with Jieun but also with her grandmother.

I did not like the way they dragged out the telling of the grandma and mother’s story. I think that they stretched it out unnecessarily. When the parents came round, and he didn't have any questions for them that made sense (of course anyone’s mind would go blank under the shock and he was still processing), but there would have been a couple of things that he would ask off the top of his head because he would have thought about them so much over the weeks.

Having them go off and and stay at grandma's house that's fine, and I was glad they asked all the questions that the we have been asking ourselves for the last few weeks. So why switch it back to ‘here's the others on the dock?’ At that point it ceased to be circumstances getting in the way to ‘let’s stretch it out just a little bit more’. I just think that was disrespectful to the audience.

Also, I kept thinking with Yuri involved she would've have said something to stop Minju turning up, whatever it took, because that's what a proper friend would do. It's not an option for her to stay in the group chat so there is no way she would be included in the trip. I know it's a story and they just want to stretch out the conflict a little bit, but Yuri is a proper friend and there is no way Yuri would have allowed Minju to tag along on her watch. She even said that Minhyuk didn’t read the room she would have shown a flood light on the scene to help him see better😂 I'm so glad that they showed how protective Yuri was when she talked about “leaving the cat with the fish”. She stepped up and was clearly giving a clear message to Minju. Throughout the day.

However, the guardian scene was another example of that would not have happened on Yuri’s watch. I get Yunjae is closest to her but it would have made more sense for Yuri to have gone with her and then the three men stay behind to finish the work. There's just no reason why those two needed to go it not like Minju was unconscious so needed someone who knew her well to give her details to the booking receptionist at the hospital.

When Minju confessed her love to Yunjae and then she ended up kissing him, why was there cutesy music going on when he'd given a clear message he's not interested. Sometimes when I watch dramas I am pulled out of the scene by the music choice, because I am wondering, who are they playing this music for? Because if it was from his point of view, that music would not be playing if it was from her point of view it didn’t fit for me (the audience) because I am...

And Also- He does say later that fell for her when he saw her eyes. But that was also in the context of looking directly at him/ not being pretentious or trying to impress/ being immersed in the peony cultivation

My fav L would always be Kenichi Matsuyama....this actor has an aura and force field all by himself. A squee too!

So far, I'm only liking the long hair... this is giving bad Bollywood or English romance novel book cover...

so true! I couldn't believe it when I saw one of the second male leads in My gf is the Man with long hair! Of course, pretty much everyone gives him the "cut your hair!" commentary but he is rocking it. I love it tbh.

My Lovely Journey: Episodes 5-6

JINGOOOO!! I waited so long to see him here! They had me all teary eyed with Genie's and Jung Woo's story and I loved that JW got to visit Pohang in the end without fearing to be pitied.
I liked that the manager, ML and Yeo Reum got time to play by the sea because I realized they are all quite young so seeing them like that just having fun made me smile just as mich as Genie reuniting with its owner.
I wished they leaned more on the humor (the way ML was reluctantly taking care of the drunk CEO and sending a selfie to YR is my kind of humor) and less in the tearjerker aspects of the drama (it was kinda drastic the actor was blind out of the blue or the dead daughter of the CEO and the ex wife) to fill the gaps in the storytelling. As I'm seeing it since last week, the journey in the title is not only YR's but it also involves the CEO, which is btw my fav character and I'm liking how CEO has connections to 2 of the destinations so far that make him think about his own journey to where he is now and what he wants of the future.
The japanese journey is so pretty! They really seem to be listening that the show does best with the scenery and the food is highlighted in the travels.

fr... idk if she feels drawn to her because she is Korean like her crush but I would be hella uncomfortable if I had a stranger tag along and ask me to pay for a King's meal just because she had a scrape on her elbow... At most, I'd buy her a band aid and some ointment... that's it!
