Hey! The nomination lists for 2007 MBC and KBS Drama Awards are now out! Check Soompi for more details! Oh yeah, CP and Thank You got nominated, but seriously, I think Thank You deserves the awards more than CP. Why? CP just tells the story of a "guy" falling for a guy, which is getting more and more common in drama themes nowadays. Thank You breaks new ground by telling how people with AIDS cope with their lives and how ignorance can really lead to somebody else's misery. It deals with how Korea is still prejudiced against people with AIDS and how AIDS sufferers face the discrimination they face from society. Overall, I really think Thank You should get the Best Drama Award. Although CP is leading in polls, that's just because it's a "trendy" drama. Trends do die off with time. Thank You, you can say it's more of the educational type. It will remain firmly etched in your mind.

You know, after all these years, I still never understood the mass appeal of Winter Sonata to the Japanese. I've watched tons of Korean and Japanese dramas and Winter Sonata's appeal was just lost on me. I watched maybe 6 episodes, got bored, and skipped right to the ending. To this day, I never bothered to watch the episodes that I missed. No offense to Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo fans, but personally, I think their acting skills are still bland. They've been in the industry for quite some time and yet I can't seem to feel engaged with their characters whenever I see them in a drama or movie (i.e. Choi Ji Woo in Air City...ech).
Instead of continously stretching Winter Sonata's popularity, I hope non-Koreans will enjoy other noteworthy dramas such as Mixed-Up Investigative Agency, Goodbye Solo, Moraeshigae, and etc. I love anime, but I have a feeling this one's going to be a doozy.

They're not saying the music video DEPICTS suicide. They're saying the scene carries associations with suicide. (Which I think is true enough; especially since some of the more high-profile recent suicides were done by self-hanging, i.e. Jung Dabin, U;Nee.) And that association is uncomfortable enough that they feel the MV merits a stricter viewer rating. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Winter Sonata was pretty magical for me the first time. But then again it was my very first kdrama and I had nothing to compare it to. Don't think I can stomach the emotionally overwrought plot now. Attempted a rewatch several years ago and never got past the 10th episode.
"In addition to the animated production, Key East will branch out into business ventures with the derivative entities, like the OSTs, DVDs, publications, characters, games, mobile services, events, and other products.”
I read in an article that BYJ is Key East's largest shareholder. He owns about 37% of the company.

I don't know why the critics are suggesting suicide when it was the girl that tied him up. If anything, I think technically he was dead already. She did unbury his head from the ground already.

That would be "Jang Geum's Dream." (There's a wiki entry on it.) Plus, if you look around, they also made Sorry I Love You into a short animated movie.
Love Winter Sonata, but uhm Japanese housewives do not watch cartoons. It would make more sense making an animated version of Goong.

Not a fan of BYJ and Choi Ji Woo ( her face is too melancholic ), I never caught the fever from 'Winter Sonata'. I always think this is one real OVERRATED K-dramas..
I saw few episodes by accident ( it was aired on our local TV ), and mocked up about the ending with friends who liked it.
Animated? Who would want to see it?
BTW, I read long time ago that 'Dae Jang Geum' was also remade in animated version, right? Is it successful?

godzilla, you're right! lol the family dynamics and such are reminscient of Thank You. But it'll be ok, since Jang Hyuk's character isn't going to be so much of an in-your-face-ass, but maybe the charming, manipulative type. And unless they give Lee Da Hae the "ahjumma" haircut and perm, I don't at all buy her as mother to a five year old. lol I sound so negative, but I do look forward to seeing this drama. But unlike Coffee Prince and others, I'll wait for the reviews from people like javabeans before jumping right into it as soon as the subs are released. btw, I feel like.. of course LDH's character will be the self-sacrificing angel. How boring. Maybe they'll surprise us and instead of Jang Hyuk's character initially extorting money from her... his character will be introduced because she hired him to get her money to keep her household running. lol I don't know!
