Episode 6 opens with Eun-oh talking to BoA at the moment she gets a text from her friend who is honeymooning in Australia (in Melbourne which is a really nice place). Friend sends a picture of her lover who is working there. We now know that BoA did not plan this in advance (I suspect that her Daddy knew that the young man had gone to Australia- hence the rushed wedding). Naturally, BoA runs off to Australia. But, hey, at least she texts our ML to let him know that she has to go.
What was disgusting to me was the infantile treatment meted out to our ML by his father when Ji-yeuk came home. Nothing could be less appropriate than yelling at his son and calling him a fool after Ji-yeuk has literally been left standing at the altar. What sort of a father does that? One who only thinks about his own pride. Sure, it was awkward for the family but how much more awkward is it for the jilted groom? Making his son have to apologize for this? Telling him how much he disapproved of Ji-yeuk’s reason for marrying? He effectively ran his son off and what followed was lengthy scenes of a depressed Ji-hyeok doing day labor in another city. We spent a year with weekenders featuring awful mothers- now we get an awful father? I really do not like him.
Dear Dad: It used to be that people got married for many reasons, not just romance. The non-romantic ones were at least as likely to be happy as the romantic ones. Imposing your narrow opinion on your kids is not appropriate, in fact it is tyrannical. Look what happened to your younger son who was so caught up in your fantasy that he could not see what was happening with his girlfriend. If you insist that there can be only one way then someone like your younger son will be so blinkered that he cannot see reality because he can only see what you taught him to see.
Seong-jae learns that Ji-won is unemployed- this is someone he can trust to drive his sister so it looks like he will now have that job.

Episodes 5/6: The same scenario in a non-korean/western drama--with a bride leaving the groom alone, onstage, in the spotlight (the director made the light glaring on Jung Il Woo's face)----the absconding bride would have taken all the blame. I can't even write the names she would have been called----but many come to mind. Ji Hyeok would not have needed to apologize. All sympathy would be towards him. That made episode 6 really interesting to me, and truly uncomfortable. I found the father unbearable in that moment (as an actor he is quite wonderful here).
I believe the writer for this show likes to investigate emotional themes---and I would imagine that is one reason she and Jung Il Woo are working together again (previously 49 Days). Depression? Mental health? Forgiveness? Living a meaningful life? We still need to learn so much more about the characters.
I wonder if we will see our runaway bride again? I hope she comes back. I miss her already (I have a soft spot for any actor that was in Welcome to Waikiki!).

I was interested in this anyway, but now it’s looking more likely than ever that Seo Ji-hoon will actually end up with someone he loves and who loves him in the end!? Where do I sign up?

We had a blast. I know that when we sit through all the bonus scenes and the extended credits we can't read that we both loved the show.

Even though they don't sing they are still fun to be around, eh?
As with most xianxia <b<Ne Zha 2 is 50% battle scenes. The guys will love it. You will know enough from Cdramas to time your bathroom breaks. It contains just enough heart to make all the mayhem palatable.
The animation is beyond next level - its a whole new level. Minor stuff like having the ambient sunlight fall correctly on the faces of minor characters unloading a delivery was just amazing. Of course all the battle scenes were..., epic.
Best part was seeing a film with kids in the audience. One little guy was paused in the aisle watching and whining, "I don't want to leave but I have to pee".

I've always wanted a kdrama adaptation of the cnovel Summer's Desire. It has a famous 2010 twdrama adaptation as well as a newer 2018 mainland adaptation, but I'd really like to see Korea's take on it. It's such a classic melo in the best way - a beautiful, icy and downtrodden heroine caught between two super hot guys (the love triangle was one of the few I actually liked), amnesia, and more angst than you can shake a stick at.

As if to prove her point, Seok-joo gazes at Tae-rin with a gentle smile. (Side note: he looks so pretty with glasses!)"
Noone - and I mean NOONE - does "gentle smile" better than Seo Ji Hoon. Partly because he's perfected that smile in partnership with those puppy eyes. Can't wait for the glasses to come off.
And if there is any chance of romance between Seok-joo's father (Jo Han Chul and the ML's mom, then 2 out of 3 love-lines (main couple is still meh for me) will keep me watching without using FF too much.
Crossing my fingers that as with other recent JTBC releases on Viki that this drama will be available shortly after release in Korea which is early morning for me.

Yea, AveX nitpicks and tears apart the most random things and not even in a position of being objective or offering constructive criticism. It’s weird, and frankly, off-putting imho

@coninadisc @reply1988 I had a relative who used to take the train from Daegu to Pyeongyang (to go to boarding school in Pyeongyang). So reading Mater 2-10 had lots of bittersweet memories of her life.

I admit I was perplexed when I saw her video review of Minglan last week. I could have understood that she thought it was too slow or even boring, but the lighting in particular? I thought it was wonderful.
(And even now I have it on-hold and it's not available on Viki anymore , I think it's one of the best c-dramas I have watched).

@isagc
AvenueX is infamous for ripping apart dramas that are very acclaimed— like Minglan, who has earned high praise from industry professionals for its authenticity, in which, much of the praise is for the drama’s production quality/value and era accurate lighting, solely using candles on set and nothing else, no modern technology to light the sets— and I suspect AvenueX does this for clicks

AvenueX has a disdain—borderline disgust— for management agency CEO/ drama scriptwriter
plagiarist, Yu Zheng, whom manages the FL of TTEOTM, and I think AvenueX’s disdain for the dude extends to all of the celebrities under his agency, too, and I’m not surprised by thatView in context

I agree. I think Bo A had every intention of going through with marrying Jihyuk until she saw that text. Then her heart won over practically.

Episode 6 hits Jihyuk HARD, literally and figuratively. Oof. He's (hopefully) learning some big lessons. I still feel like his character needs some more substance and backstory for him to have gone so far into the deep. I find myself pulling for him more than I'd like. His imagined sympathy from Seongjae after their meal, telling him he's the victim, still says he's not ready to accept responsibility for his own thoughts and actions. But at the same time, he is also a victim and I want to give him a big hug. Dammit, Jung Il Woo! ;)
Let's see how the couples play out... I'm going to guess little brother ends up with Seongjae's sister since he's starting out as her new bodyguard. Just as Seongjae and Euhno start to hit it off, Jihyuk will come back into the picture. It won't - and shouldn't - be easy for him to work his way back into Euhno's good graces, but in the end... I've got some ideas for Seongjae and little sister, but I'll save those for now. On to week 4 and eps 7 & 8!
