My office is part of a large campus with many office buildings. My actual team sits in a different building, and I sit with people on a project I am working on. I don’t know most of the people in this building. During the workday, I like to take 5 minute breaks now and then to stretch my legs, get some water, use the facilities, etc. I started passing by the same few people during my breaks. We eventually got to the “smile-and-say-hello” phase while passing by. A few months ago, one gentleman stopped me to chat with me. He asked my name, about my project, and where I sat in the building. Ever since that day, he would come by at least once a week to either chat or drop off something at my desk – an apple, a water bottle, a cookie, etc. Today, he came by and dropped off a brownie, with napkins, a fork, and a knife.
Dear sir, you have no idea who I am as a person. You only know my name, yet you show such random acts of kindness and thoughtfulness towards me. You have no idea how your random visits (even without the gifts) and a quick chat brightens up my day. Thank you for being you.
this resonated with me a lot. i’ve spent the past year or so working in weird places–sometimes in my office, sometimes at home, moved to a new office (same company, but new city), moved to a new house—and i’ve really started appreciating the little gestures of camaraderie that coworkers show. happy you have this <3 <3 <3
I’ve been working so long with the same people in the same office that I almost forgot what it feels to be new. Thanks for sharing, it has brought back some memories…

@katakwasabi I don’t know what happened to the old post but to answer your question,
lol, There is already a Mr.Spicykimchi, and this gentleman is old enough to be my grandfather 🙂

It could still be a Tale of spicykimchi and Brownie grandpa. Sorta like “Up”. 🙂

This is so cute! Some of the best conversations I’ve had have been with people I’ve spotted on my daily walk or making a coffee at work.
