Friends let’s play a game. For international fans,
1) As a newbie, What is your first Korean word ? i.e the first Korean word you learned
2) and your most favorite.
Lol I use that in RL too when my mom gives me something. She usually just wacks me over the head when I sprout “Korean nonsense”. Lol she knows my obsession with all things Korean too well now and is kind of sick of it.
I love daebak! Specially the way its pronounced with like this super shocked face that they do in dramas. Or when they pronounce it in this super sarcastic tone of voice.
1) Not sure but most likely ‘annyeonghaseyo’, ‘mianhamnida’ or ‘kamsahamnida’. Very boring LOL. Please ignore my most likely incorrect spelling.
2) Maybe ‘bangtan’ (bulletproof)? And not for obvious reasons i.e. that it is in BTS’ name. The word is used in a variety of ways in BTS’ lyrics e.g in Not Today, ‘Trust the word together, trust that it is bulletproof’. To me it has come to mean something akin to standing up for myself and/or loving myself. ^^
OMG that’s soooo ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️… are you an illustrator ? cause your creativity is amazing… m gonna use these and all rest even you created for others (hope u wont mind)…
I just love these stickers chingu, cartoons are my favorite.
I browsed and got these images on net.
By the way I am not a illustrator though drawing is my passion. 😋
The first word I learned was cheo-sarang. 😍 My friend told me about hers and I was like “What is that?!”
I really love the world jeoldae, which means “never”, because it’s the first word I figured out on my own just by watching K drama, and people say it with such emphasis, usually to tell someone they’ll never ever like them (except they always end up liking them.) I just like the way it sounds.
1. Annyeong and it was from watching funny enough Arrested Development…they forgot to add teh haseyo part to the greeting. Also weirdly enough I somehow knew before even watching kdramas that sarang meant love in Korean…it was imbedded into my subconscious somehow.
2. My favorite word weirdly enough might be namja cause the first kdrama OST i fell in love with was “The Man” by Hyun Bin and I loooved to sing along and know that I was pronouncing namja correctly when I finally learned that namja meant man LOL
1. ‘Annyeong’ I think…
2. ‘Eottoke’ became one of my favorite Korean words, also the phrase: “Na Eottokaji?” which is from Shopping King Louie. I do always use ‘waenyol’ which I learned from R88. I love the sound of ‘miane’ when saying sorry. Weird but I also love to use ‘eodi?’ and ‘yogi.’
my most used word is “aish” (in frustrating tone.. that i learned watching kdramas) and many times i speak so loud that people around me had to ask what Happened to me.
and second “ottokaji”
I love aish! Followed by other growls of frustration that I learned from watching too many dramas. Ottoke is another favorite. I specially use that one when oppa does something swoony onscreen and then I get all flustered. 😛
1) Oppa
2) You want to die??? lol. I also love the concept of what it means to be an “oppa”? And how different it is from “noona”. Don’t know why but I like these two words. But my favorite Korean phrase is definitely “You wanna die??” I actually use it in real life.
Hahaha! I use it mainly with my younger brother when he’s being a little brat. He knows by now what it means when I yell “ya! jugule?!” and moves a safe distance away where I can’t grab him!
and i too have a similar story..
just casually i sent a morning msg to one of frnd as “annyeong” and him being no knowledge of korean vacob his response was “what ???”..
and then i realised he took it as Annoying with typo error… then i had to write a big long message explaining the term and its usage…. it was so funny then
Aw lucky you! Sadly no K-drama converts among my friends and family. Although I do teach my bro some stuff like the aforementioned you wanna die. Also he knows what an oppa is since I’m like squealing over them 99.99 % of the time!
i recruited a couple of my office mates to kdrama land.. esp one guy, who i never thought would be so interested in watching kdramas that too rom com ones. i user Goblin as bait and it worked.
then i started learning korean words, and wrote everyone’s name on white board in hangul and people were so impressed with my determination….
