At no moment during its run does When the Phone Rings ask to be taken seriously. It is a romp of a drama, both hilarious and horrifying in turn. Episode 9 is perhaps some of the finest OTT melodrama I've ever scene; Phone at its Phon-iest.

Highly recommended from beginning to end for a delightful, ridiculous ride!!

Otoke, WTPR really ended. I’m happy with the happy ending, but sad that it ended. My Friday-Saturday will never be the same again. Each episodes keep you on the edge of your seat. It gets better and better.

When the phone rings is my number 1 favorite Kdrama.
CHEMISTRY: OVERFLOWING. The best OTP, my SaJu couple is the best. Deserve to receive all the Best Couple awards.
ACTING: YYS slayed. Daesang worthy.
CSB, how can she be this pretty even crying? Her SL is top tier.
STORY: BSE/BYY: I’m all swoon with this cold-hearted-who hides his feelings and yearns for her. HHJ: I love when she finally speaks, I am awe of her honesty. Her open affection melted BSE’s heart and so down bad for her for eternity.
CASTING: Perfect! The OTP, second leads, the supporting. All of them shines.
CINEMATOGRAPHY: take Episode 4 and 6 on repeat
DIRECTING: With attention to details, fast pacing, not dragging, no loop holes (resolved every next episodes)
SOUNDTRACK: from “See the Light” to “Say my Name”. YYS participated in the OST. Omo! I can’t wait to have my physical copy. I hope they include the musical score too.

An intringuimg mystery and a sizzling romance that could have been perfect with a modified ending.

Starts strong as a enjoyable makjang with sizzling chemistry to boot and then fizzles out with all the tropes that make a makjang but on a grander scale - war zone, Rambo outfit, a signet ring that moonlights as a key to open a door that moonlights as a painting…. Watch it all you want but don’t blame us when we say we told you so!

Switch your brain off and enjoy the ride.

Explosive chemistry, Yoo Yeon-seok as you've never seen him, an interesting concept, Yoo Yeon-seok, crazy cliff-hangers, Chae Soo-bin using sign language, excellent OST and BGM, Yoo Yeon-seok, pretty cinematography. Did I mention Yoo Yeon-seok?

I loved the drama, until the ending, that was WTF? WTF? WTF? ...
On the other hand, if completely unfounded guilt* feelings is your thing ... and it seems to very condoned in many K-Dramas, so it must be the thing for a lot of people ... followed by a dramatic Noble Idiocy and Time Skip ... then this is as good as any.
With the purity obsession some people have, if there is even the inkling that there is possibly anything at all that in any way could be thought to be one's fault, a person in a drama should go all the way and preferably, in punishing themselves, also make those who love them unhappy , preferably without including them in the secret of their unreasonable reasons, so that family, friends and lover (let's keep it singular) are left with doubts that there was any love, ever, or whether their loved one has died.
Taking that into consideration, it did those last two episodes quite well.

Hardly any other drama of the past year has entertained me as much as this one. This is mainly due to the sizzling chemistry between the two main characters.
Both lead actors deliver such a good acting performance that the plot quickly becomes almost secondary. It is clear from the start that logic was not really the focus of the makers, although it is advisable for viewers to switch off their brains completely in the last two episodes.
