When The Phone Ring's ratings do not seem aligned with the immense international buzz it has.

Same thing happened with Love Next Door. Doesn't surprise me honestly (though WTPR is doing better than LND in this regard). It's an easily accessible show because Netflix, and it stars a hot actor everybody fawns over (no offense to Chae Soo-bin, but I don't think she's the main selling point here). The whole thing practically sells itself, and quality becomes mostly secondary (especially when the buzz starts before the show premieres).

Korean audiences seem kinda pickier in this regard? I'm not talking about quality, but I expected LND to do better than it did. And WTPR is doing pretty good, but it's not a breakout hit either.
