Go Soo eats toast and blocks crooks as Parole Examiner Lee

Welcome to the world of parole in tvN’s newest crime drama Parole Examiner Lee. Starring Go Soo (Missing: The Other Side) as the show’s eponymous hero Lee Han-shin, this lawyer spends his time keeping unrepentant criminals behind bars where they belong. If you thought your money and connections would set you free, think again.

The latest teaser opens in a dark room with Han-shin sitting at a desk. He quickly goes through a stack of documents and stamps them either “unqualified” or “qualified” without any hesitation. As the rejection pile grows taller, he reaches the last case and then stops. Checking over the details, Han-shin smirks and thinks to himself that it is too early for them to be released into the world. With that, he pounds his stamp like a judge hitting their gavel, and the scene changes.

The dark atmosphere shifts into a brighter tone as Han-shin works in his office, donning a lighter suit in lieu of his black one. He places down his commemoration cup — the one he got for becoming a parole examiner — and munches on a piece of toast. (Bread being an informal term for jail in Korean.)

Described as an iron wall, Han-shin will block all the amoral jerks trying to manipulate the system and get out of prison (while enjoying his toast as a free man, of course). Though he may be unmoving when it comes to work, this hero is more than happy to do his job as the teaser ends with Han-shin dancing to an announcement that CEO Ji Dong-man of Ohjung Group was recently refused parole.

Directed by PD Yoon Sang-ho (Curtain Call, River Where the Moon Rises) with scripts written by Park Chi-hyung, tvN’s Parole Examiner Lee is slated for twelve episodes and premieres November 18 in the Monday-Tuesday slot.
