Premiere Watch: Seoul Busters

Time slot: Wednesdays
Broadcaster: Disney+
Genre: Crime, comedy
Episode count: 20

Reasons to watch: It wouldn’t be dramaland without a screwball crime comedy every now and then, and Seoul Busters looks like a real doozy! Kim Dong-wook stars as the violent crimes unit leader taking over an “interesting” new team comprising Park Ji-hwan, Seo Hyun-woo, Park Se-wan, and Lee Seung-woo. The fact that they operate out of a preschool classroom pretty much tells you everything you need to know. With a long episode run, Disney+ is dropping the first four episodes on the premiere night, and will then air two episodes weekly. So if you squint it’s practically still an 8-week drama…

TL;DR: Ragtag cop comedy, should be pure mayhem

I wonder why SBS dropped this drama, it was previously supposed to be a Wednesday-Thursday drama. It looks fun!

I see the first four on Hulu and they're not quite an hour long...**does some simple arithmetic** Yeah, this is a 16-hour drama cut up into slighly smaller chunks.

I wonder if this is related to what @elinor found that Disney did to Black Out, cutting it into slightly shorter chunks and also removing bits and pieces while doing so? We won't have an "original" to compare here, but one wonders!

Although it would be great if this was a Flex X Cop type of light crime drama, there is no temptation to go to the dark side with this one as I had with Black Out, so I'm hoping Hulu's chopping will eliminate the filler and produce a leaner and funnier comedy, maybe?

Ahhh I forgot the premiere date. Excited to see Kim Dong Wook in a comedy! Not a fan of 4 episodes dropping at once and the broadcaster being Disney, but oh well. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was alerted by Disney+ that this drama has started.

Am deciding whether to start it or not.

The comedy writing is gold. This is not the typical funny. This is funny-funny. The screenwriter wrote Potato Star and High Kick, so that's why. I loved the first episode and immediately went to find out who the screenwriter is.

I tried the first episode and it didn't really jive with me. Half the time while watching episode 1 I'm going "Eh?"

It's not having me in tears of laughing like scenes from WELCOME TO WAIKIKI.

I'll give it another episode.
