Jung In-sun welcomes Choi Siwon to experiment DNA Lover

Clearing the path into premiere week for TV Chosun’s upcoming DNA Lover, the latest teaser shows us that it’s written in the stars, lighting up the DNA map to help Jung In-sun (Grand Shining Hotel) find her destined love Choi Siwon (Death’s Game).

Taking us to researcher Han So-jin’s (Jung In-sun) lab, the video opens with So-jin’s theory that the secret to destiny can be found in DNA, crafting her perfect soulmate from birth. Enter the charming OB-GYN Shim Yeon-woo (Choi Siwon) who is berated in voiceover by someone asking, “Why do you have so many women in your life?” But Yeon-woo takes it all in stride, jokingly asking back if this is a bad thing.

In our hero’s defense, it doesn’t sound like he’s cheating on anyone – the implication is that Yeon-woo is a flirt and has dated a lot of women. We’re also told in character descriptions that Yeon-woo’s affectionate demeanor is quick to turn cold upon a breakup.

Case in point, his still hurting ex-girlfriend complains how it took Yeon-woo one minute to turn into a stranger. But she’s been sharing her sorrows over drinks with So-jin and the drunken group decide to find Yeon-woo and take revenge.

We then cut to So-jin spraying Yeon-woo with some kind of clear liquid, slurring, “Welcome to Han So-jin’s experiment world.” A shocked and soiled Yeon-woo then falls to his knees, crying over the destruction of his carefully pieced puzzle. But as the teaser comes to a close in the final sequence, Yeon-woo has the worrying realization that an otaku has entered his life and it seems his interest has already been piqued.

Also starring Lee Tae-hwan (Thirty-Nine) and Jung Yoo-jin (Celebrity), production for the rom-com has PD Sung Chi-wook (Tomorrow) directing with writing by Jung Su-mi (Born Again). Broadcasting in TV Chosun’s weekend slot, DNA Lover begins on August 17 and will be available for streaming on Viki.

I haven't watched bad memory eraser, but this looks similar. I don't know that that is a good thing. I will give it a try just so I can have BTS' DNA playing in my head the whole time while watching. (I became their fan just about when it came out, so I am rather fond of that ridiculous song.) Do we think there's any possibility they can get it in the soundtrack?

This is the drama that has the potential to be dropped early with no second chances if the comedy or acting is over the top. I am hoping it is a well balanced light watch but it’s been released when the weekend slot is busy so it will be treated more harshly.

I'm honestly considering just watching the first two episodes because I bet that's where 90% of the actual DNA/research part will be and I am so hilariously interested in whatever on earth she thinks she has discovered! I forgot it was in the weekend slot though, you're right to guard that spot well.

woman in sceience yet they have to make her kind of a mad scientist and still entangled looking for LUUVVVFF. like you cannot even make them scientists without a man love interest.
I kinda bet turning cold is some sort of defence mechanism for hoping too much.

Honestly, I'm not sure I'm going to like Choi Siwon in this? Like, I might enjoy it more if someone else were in his role? I'm not quite sure why, either. Maybe Love is for Suckers has scarred me.
