[MBN]

  • Kwon Nara (The Midnight Studio) has reportedly been cast in Disney+’s Knock Off, joining Kim Soo-hyun (Queen of Tears) and Jo Boa (Destined With You) in the designer knock-offs fashion industry. We used to seeing twentysomething chaebol bosses, so I can accept Choi Hyun-wook playing Moon Ga-young's boss as long as our leads were gamers in elementary school because 16 years later is a long time.

I thought the same re the 16 years passage of time.

Apparently they first met as gamers in high school. The 16 years timeline change doesn’t make sense because in the original webtoon it’s only 5 years.

Then I'm hoping they do meet in elementary school, and the drama changed the webtoon because it wants them to have a childhood connection.

They might as well have met as babies because CHW doesn't look older than 18. Am willing to accept toddler gamers because 30+ year old CHW is hard to swallow. Especially if the drama is going to end on a wedding or engagement.

I was kinda hoping that she would be his boss for a change - it’s not clear from the description. Oh well. Nothing new under the sun. 🤷‍♀️ Could still be fun though, depending on the chemistry of the leads!

You said it. I think it is a step too far for the imagination and/or willingness of some writers as otherwise the entire patriarchal structure would collapse, I tell you! (of course, we know how incredibly resistant to change and accommodation these systems are).

Also, I hope MGY doesn’t have put on a baby voice and is allowed to sound like an adult woman.

... so his teen fans can whine that she's too old for him...

Sorry - didn't sleep well and feeling extra snarky this morning.

Don’t be sorry. I don’t mind one bit.

THIS ^^^^ Precisely why I do not enjoy watching her acting. If she talks like that as the adult version of her character in this drama, I'm out!

He’s definitely the boss and the jaded chaebol heir. They’ve taken a webtoon and turned it into the typical chaebol-candy workplace drama while the original was based in a more college setting and was a noona romance.

Actually I thought so too. It never even occurred to me that he could be the boss, but then while reading the comments I went up to check and saw it was not explicitly stated who's who. 🤣

I think it's missing the word "respectively."

Moon Ga-young and Choi Hyun-wook... first meeting as rivals on an online game and... re-meet as employee and boss, respectively.

Ah! That would clear it up.

These youngsters in dramas are sure accomplished enough to become bosses in their early twenties. I know, I know. Choi Hyonwook will play an older person but still.

They forgot to mention the chaebol heir part. Expect some traumatic backstory related to a parent or some other cliche trope.

My list of 2025 k-dramas I'm interested in is growing longer by the day! Sadly, there's not much left to release in 2024 that I'm excited about. Fortunately... c-dramas to the rescue! 😉

My Girlfriend Is a Tough Guy ( will get a watch because of Arin - unfortunately Yoon San Ha was is not a favorite (because of his role in Crazy Love). But - I try to keep an open mind.

As for Knock-off, I hope that Kwon Nara is the FL, but it's not clear yet.

Remember the great times when romcom chaebol/boss/both MLs were still sexy, if somewhat childish adult men instead of literal kids who look like they've graduated from high school dramas few years too early?.. Yeah, me neither, that was far too long ago((( *goes back to cry in a dark corner because literally none on my hot 30+ faves are interested in taking such roles and reviving my excitement for the genre from ashes*

Poor MGY tho. Hope they'll give her a raise for part-timing as a babysitter...

The casting of He's the black dragon doesn't make sense at all. Choi Hyun-Wook doesn't look older than his age...

Ah! well. All seem interesting but somewhat er, ... questionable!?

1. Who's the boss?

2. What is he holding in the fourth still?

3. Kwon Nara is the 2FL? 🙀 Hope it's a kick ass role.

4. Sanha and Arin are the leads!?

5. Somehow the stills don't scream rom-com. 🤨

6. The teaser seemed pretty interesting but the stills are giving off such sad vibes.

Really!! Then the secondary leads better be well-written.
Gosh the cast really seems like the casting director's fever dream.

Moon Ga Young~! <3 Excited to see her in a new role. The online gaming rival thing sounded fun. If only it's a notable part of the relationship building or hijinks. The boss & employee part is a drag though. 😩😩
