Kim Jae-joong’s Bad Memory Eraser leads him to Jin Se-yeon

The first teaser has dropped for MBN’s new rom-com Bad Memory Eraser, presenting our memory-less hero Kim Jae-joong (Manhole) and the psychiatrist who he believes to be his first love Jin Se-yeon (Born Again).

Opening with Kyung Joo-yeon’s (Jin Se-yeon) voiceover, she reflects on Lee Gun’s (Kim Jae-joong) current state, explaining that, “This man finally erased his memories of hardship that he so wanted to forget for 15 years.” When his burgeoning tennis career had been halted by a bad injury, Gun had been sunk deep into despair and struggled to restore his sense of self worth – that is, until our title’s ~eraser~ allows him to actually forget what happened.

Now free from his terrible memories, the newly confident Gun takes control of his life again. But he’s curious about his missing past and Joo-yeon looks conflicted as Gun questions, “Would I be able to reclaim the memory that I lost?” In the intermittent text screens, we then read: “The man who changed his life with the memory eraser and the woman who wields his destiny.”

Despite it being a first love fabrication, though, Gun seems to have really fallen for Joo-yeon and she, in turn, is not unaffected as well. She reassures Gun that, “It’s okay if you don’t remember because I remember,” and suggests a date, offering, “Is there anything you want to do? I’ll do it all with you.” And when Gun calls her pretty, Joo-yeon can’t help but think to herself that he’s good looking too.

Although Gun claims, “I haven’t even shown you 1% of my charm,” Joo-yeon’s heart has been racing all this time. Joo-yeon thus decides that she needs to check her heart to be certain of her feelings and the teaser closes just as our pair leans in for the smooch.

Written by Jung Eun-young with PD Yoon Ji-hoon (Shine or Go Crazy, Witch’s Romance) and PD Kim Na-young co-directing, MBN’s Bad Memory Eraser will be premiering on August 2 and releasing internationally on Viki in select regions.

Why do I have the ominous feeling that this is going to be much darker than the teaser makes us believe? 🤔
Having a part of your (painful) memory erased is such a crass decision, and I’m pretty certain this will come to haunt him in the end… (then again, I might just be projecting Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 👀, and this will turn out to be a sweet romantic comedy instead. 🫣)

Plus a bit sad this teaser does not feature Lee Jongwon at all. 🫠

What is this awful poster? The theme seems pretty serious and interesting but I can't trust this poster and the actors...

The trailer seems really nice, I'm interested, but the poster is giving "graphic design is my passion"

I'm intrigued by the set-up. As for the poster, marketing it with a tongue-in-cheek poster could mean there'll be a few touches of humour.

Confused 🫤 so you pay for a process to remove your memories then you want them back? I wonder if no one thought to have a clause that they have to make a video where they tell themselves you paid big money to do this irreversible procedure for a reason. These are the things you need to know and then talk about the important people and memories etc. so they don’t feel they lost the good along with the bad. They could even be miserable in the video to show it was a life or death decision and memory erasure meant they chose life. I wonder how many episodes the drama will have.
