Kim Jae-joong tackles life anew with a Bad Memory Eraser

Kim Jae-joong, Jin Se-yeon, Lee Jong-won, Yang Hye-ji

If you had the opportunity to negate every regret and undo every embarrassing blunder that keeps you up kicking your blankets all night, would you take that second chance? In MBN’s upcoming romantic comedy Bad Memory Eraser, a washed-up athlete past his prime encounters a mystical eraser that allows him to wipe his slate clean and start over.

Kim Jae-joong (Manhole) stars as Lee Gun, a former tennis ace once lauded for his exceptional aptitude. Alas, his promising career was abruptly truncated by a devastating injury, leaving him to languish in the remnants of a shattered dream. Unable to extricate himself from his despair, Gun sank further into an endless rumination upon his untapped potential. As his self-esteem plummeted and his motivation dwindled, Gun found himself utterly at a loss — up until the day he discovers the titular eraser.

Scrubbing the torment of his painful memories away, Gun emerges as if reborn. No longer haunted by the shackles of his past, Gun’s confidence soars to unforeseen heights, effectively turning his life around. Along the way, he meets the psychiatrist Kyung Joo-yeon — played by Jin Se-yeon (Born Again) — who quickly becomes his first love. Or rather, his “fabricated first love,” since he does have a hefty dose of amnesia.

On that note, Joo-yeon works at a brain research center, which suggests she may take a keener interest in Gun once she learns of his extraordinary circumstances. In fact, the two may be more alike than they think. Harboring the wounds of her past, Joo-yeon struggles with expressing herself, earning her the moniker of “ice princess” for her aloof demeanor and perfectionistic tendencies. Perhaps, through her connection with Gun, she may grow more forthright with her emotions.

As for our supporting characters, we have the rising star Lee Jong-won (Knight Flower) in the role of Lee Shin, Gun’s younger brother. It seems that athletic talent flows in the Lee family veins, because Shin is the top-ranked tennis player worldwide. With his affable disposition and fervent passion, Shin has gained no small amount of admiration, but beneath his lovable persona lies deeply-concealed scars. By his side, the endearing Jeon Sae-yan — played by Yang Hye-ji (Wonderful World) — accompanies him around the world as his interpreter. Can her positivity heal Shin’s battered heart? And will Shin recognize the impetus behind his brother’s transformation?

Helmed by PD Yoon Ji-hoon, PD Kim Na-young, and scriptwriter Jung Eun-young, with Kim Nam-pyo and Kim Sang-heon overseeing production, Bad Memory Eraser is slated for an August 2 premiere.

The irony of giving a character a way to erase past mistakes, and he was in Manhole :)
(and hasn't been in much else since)

I love JJ as an idol, but he's below average of an actor and when paired up with someone equally weak or worse (which is far too big of a compliment for JSY, honestly) tends to sink even more... This is a giant disaster in making.

How Lee Jon-Won ended in this drama?

I'm happy Jaejoong can be free from SM now but as an actor, he can't choose good dramas.... And Jin Se-Yeon never was a good actress in the first place.

Sometimes I think I’m getting more familiar with the landscape of Korean actors, but then a drama like this comes along. I’ve only ever heard of/recognize one of these people! Am I not paying attention or have they popped out from obscurity recently?

I have never watched the ML before 😅
I know the FL but I have not seen any of her dramas yet.

Of course I know and really like Lee Jong-won (My unfamiliar family, Hospital Playlist, Knight Flower...).

And I watched the SFL in Sweet Home 2 and When the weather is fine.

Jaejoong faced so many years of being blacklisted thanks to SM, and I’m very happy for him that he finally seems to be getting more work again in Korea. Good for him! Screw Lee Soo-man!

I'm assuming the one you recognize is Lee Jong-won? Have you never seen Yang Hye-ji as she's been in semipopular dramas on Dramabeans (When the Weather Is Fine/ I'll Find You on a Beautiful Day, Nevertheless, Revenant)?

Kim Jae-joong has popped out from obscurity recently, while Jin Se-yeon needs to stay in obscurity.

Yes, Lee Jong-won I know (although I actually haven’t watched any of his dramas, I don’t think), but there are so many that I haven’t gotten to yet - including apparently almost everything Yang Hye-ji has been in. 😅 Now that you say it though, I can picture her in Revenant!

They both need to stay in obscurity. Give the new talents a chance.

Popped out from obscurity. I have heard of this drama like 2-3 years ago. I am surprised the plans for it are still in motion.

Much as I would love to follow Lee Jong-won to his next project after his wonderful performance in MBC’s KNIGHT FLOWER (Viki US) this project (MBN’s BAD MEMORY ERASER which I gather has been in the can for awhile) and his upcoming ENA drama DRUNKEN ROMANCE will probably be passes. Meanwhile his terrific 2019 sports mini-series OUR BASEBALL (playlisted free on Youtube) will have to be my post KF Lee Jong-won fix.

I have to watch Our Baseball soon. Mini-series and Drama Specials are perfect for watching between other longer shows. Or when you have been watching the same show day after day for a long time (ex: me binge-watching Joy of Life 1 and 2 for weeks) and you need to stop for a little while and watch something completely different.

Protect the Boss! I loved that show so much. I still remember the scene where Jajoong tried to sneak a sip of alcohol and the whole table scolded him.

Don't. All these poor oppas she greatly wronged by costarring with them and also poor us who have to suffer through her "acting" deserve more pity. Girlie is pretty AND rich, can't she find another, less offensive to society hobby for herself?

😂😂 That's Savage!! Fortunately, I haven't had the bad luck of watching any of her shows. I've only caught some clips on the tube and even then I was repulsed. Hence been dodging her programs left and right.😆

She's the most digestible (still pretty bad) in THE GRAND PRINCE with Yoo Shi Yoon, so if you're interested to give her a chance for lulz, that's your best bet.
