Go Yoon-jung and Kim Sun-ho ask Can This Love Be Translated

Hold onto your hats everyone! There’s another high-profile rom-com coming to dramaland. The script reading stills have just released for the Hong Sisters’ upcoming Netflix drama Can This Love Be Translated, starring Go Yoon-jung (Death’s Game) and Kim Sun-ho (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha). And even though information is scant now, it’s already shaping up to be a project that pulls lots of buzz.

Go Yoon-jung plays Cha Moo-hee, an A-lister celebrity with a bubbly personality to match. Due to the global nature of her job, she ends up needing an interpreter to help her with foreign language interviews. Cue: Joo Ho-jin (Kim Sun-ho), a multilingual marvel whose range of languages includes English, Japanese, and Italian. While it’s Ho-jin’s literal job to understand Moo-hee’s every word, their personality differences and inability to communicate romantically lead them to butt heads.

Rounding out the supporting cast, we also have the skilled PD Lee Yi-dam (Daily Dose of Sunshine), Mo-hee’s manager Choi Woo-sung (Chief Detective 1958), and Japanese actor Fukushi Sota (Ai no Nai Koibitotachi) making his first foray in Korean projects.

Considering Go Yoon-jung’s other project Resident Playbook was indefinitely put on ice, I was worried it would be a while before we would see her on our screens again, but the Hong Sisters have come in clutch with another epic romance (to the level of Alchemy of Souls I hope? I’m crossing my fingers!). Not to mention this would be Kim Sun-ho’s long-awaited return to acting projects after his hiatus. There are just so many reasons to get excited! Why does 2025 have to be so far away?

Written by the Hong Sisters (Alchemy of Souls, Hotel de Luna, Hwayugi) and directed by PD Yoo Young-eun (Bloody Heart), Can This Love Be Translated is slated to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2025.

Too bad I don't like the OTP because it would be nice to see Fukushi Sota.

Are these Korean Japanese collaborations the new normal? I’m already on the SLS ship with Fukushi Sota.

I love Go Yoon-jung but have never really warmed to Kim Sun-ho as a romantic lead, although I readily admit that he's a talented actor. Additionally, the Hong sisters pleasantly surprised me with "Alchemy of Souls," which features what I feel is one of their best OTPs of all time, but it feels too soon for them to churn out another epic romance at that level. I also feel like their contemporary, non-fantasy romances are their weakest creations. But perhaps I'm being overly cynical.

Hong sisters have written some of the best romcoms of kdramaland: Delightful girl choon hyang, you're beautiful, the greatest love, my girl etc.

I have only seen him in Hometown-Cha-Cha, which I didn't like and dropped.

What an amazing amount of talent coming together! The Hong sisters, Kim Seonho, Go Youn-jungJ? In one drama? Amazing.

Fukushi Sota? Perhaps not the best actor imo, but I'm just happy to see the JP x SK collabs continue.

I liked Choi Woo-Sung as Lee Dan in MRIAG! The brother was such a fun character, glad to see him again! ah, and in Haunted house.
Dimples is still getting a lot of hate when it was all false. Hwaiting, Dimples! Im a little worried that there seems to be no sparkle in his eye. hope it is just the photo.

He does seem a bit serious. Maybe because he's in character for the serious part. 🤞 Those glasses suit him. 😍

I like both the leads and the premise seems good. Hope the Hong sisters can re-create the OTP magic. 🤞
Choi Woo-sung was really cool in Chief Detective, 1958.

I read the first two sentences with my hopes building then saw Hong sister and 2025 and my expectations dropped. I have not heard good things about the Hong sisters endings so I think I will wait to see what comes out nearer the time. The story sounds like the perfect watch for me but so did Miss night and day I went in blind expecting a rom com and that was dropped once the murderer complete with an axe (yes seriously) appeared on the scene.

They have given happy endings in many of their shows and this one seems to be like a fun rom-com. And it's not a fantasy which usually ends with sad/open endings than contemporary shows.

In case anyone's interested, Kim Seonho has already returned to acting projects last year with the movie The Childe (available on Viki and other popular platforms) and his next project Tyrant (a four part Disney Plus series) is set to be released in August this year. His two other projects (When Life Gives You Tangerines and Mangnaein) are also awaiting release next year.

Seon-ho! BIG fan of his delivery style, he's so relaxed. The Hong Sisters? Even bigger fan 🙌 . Also like the frenemies plot between a translator and a celebrity. Lots of build up time for anticipation. Looking forward to it.

I'm really happy with Kim Sun-Ho's comeback in KDramas!

I like Go Yoon-Jung but not really understand the hype around her 😅

I liked Lee Yi-dam in Daily Dose of Sunshine, her love story was touching.

Fukushi Sota in a Kdrama!!! He's trying a lot of things. He was in The Head 2 by HBO Asia.

The Hong Sisters. Hmmmm - loved Alchemy of Souls, PART ONE and hated Part 2. after that fiasco, I won't watch anything the Sisters write until it's over and I can read the recaps.

Don't understand the frenzy over Go Yoon Gung - she was bland in AoS Part 2. Pretty face but . . . .pretty face. I don't see anything special about her (acting wise). Competent - but not memorable or distinctive.

I liked Part 1 too until they dropped the ball on how they handled some key storylines

I'm the opposite, I dropped AoS part 1 half way, but loved the part 2 till I watch it repeatedly, GYJ is pretty and talented , you are blind if cannot see it. I'm really anticipate her collaboration with Kim sun ho this time. I don't really watch his project aside hometown cha cha but Def will watch it for GYJ.

A Hong sisters drama is a hit or miss for me lately. I did like their earlier works and some of their more recent ones. I will wait for reviews first.

Very happy to see Kim Sun-ho back as a lead after the appalling butcher's job done on him by an ex girlfriend which turned out to be completely inaccurate. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly any whisper of gossip about a leading star, however unlikely, is immediately assumed to be the truth. No question of hearing both sides of the story, just start hating him/her immediately and above all, think of the nastiest things you can possibly say or think about the target, and put them in writing. And urge everyone else to jump on board with you and add their own bucketful of spite. No wonder these wretched stars spend every public moment with fixed grins and every variation of arm and finger hearts in the direction of anyone watching; their careers can be destroyed in a matter of hours if their fans are offended. And if you actually DO something that really IS reprehensible you might as sell kill yourself; there is no second chance and you will never be forgiven.

I’m just here to say I find the number of beverages in front of Kim Seon-ho and Lee Yi-dam inspiring! 😂

Trying to figure out what stickers Go Yoon-jung has on her tablet cover 👀
