I thought we wouldn't get a hangout for this drama 😅 Of all the premieres that happened this week, this was the one that reeled me in. The FL's acting is great and her character isn't candy or innocent, but smart and confident. The mind games and twist are good. I completed 2.5 episodes and will complete the remaining today. The bullying scenes are still hard watch, but not "Glory" level painful watch and they are kept to minimum. With 10 episode count, it should be a tight script, but let's see.

Thankfully, it bears very little resemblance to "The Glory". That was a dark revenge drama. This is a "let's find a way to stop the bullying" drama.

Yes, but the drama isn't exactly "lets put an end to it". The FL is an opportunist and does what benefits her which makes for an interesting story unlike other stories on the same "bullying" topic. Her dad saying school is a model of society when in reality it should be a safe haven for kids before facing the harsh world.

The FL's moral compass reminds me quite a bit of the grown-up version of Moon Dong Eun. Baek Harin is perhaps slightly more conniving and sick in the head than Park Yeonjin, given that she literally started a *game* to perpetuate the bullying and reinforce her god-complex. There is a character-for-character counterpart almost, when comparing the two dramas, so yes, I totally see where the Glory comparisons are coming from.
Oh, and the fact that PYJ's Mother is the Principal here, and the store assistant is the Lit Teacher, was kind of fun to spot! :D

Ooooo I was trying to recollect where I had seen the principal and Lit teacher's character resemblance. Now, I understand. I should have done an AsianWiki search on them😅

I've loved every minute of it so far. Managed to finish episode 4 during my lunchbreak at work yesterday. The cast are doing a great job. I don't know what's going to happen next, and I like that a lot.

Binged 4 episodes today. Bona is definitely smashing this role. I love how smart and calculating she is. She and Ha-rin are two sides of the same coin. And for some odd reason while watching I feel like the main characters are the morbid version of Ouran High School Host Club xD
Still can't watch the bullying scenes but I do want the whole eps out so I binge it all.

I think Suji will join Jung Hee and Yurim as the best characters Bona has played.

I watched episode 2 today and she really is doing a great job. I know she isn't the most amazing actor in the world but when she finds a role that suits her, I really enjoy watching her.
Jung-hee and Yu-rim are the characters that made me a Bona fan, so excellent taste!

Girls' Generation 1979 has always been on my list and since I'm currently enjoying Pyramid, I might watch GG sooner rather than later

The Class Pres is SUCH a Kyouya! ❤️
No wonder I have this raging girl-crush on her. Now that you have mentioned Ouran, I just cannot bring myself to unsee the similarities, lol.
I'm loving the psychological aspects of this drama, and I've always liked games/ reality shows based on anonymous voting because of the predictability that mathematical probability brings yet it is still SO unpredictable because you cannot quantify human nature.
Harin is one of the most compelling perpetrators of bullying and abuse I have ever seen, on screen. Usually such characters aren't blessed with the brightest of brains and their superpower is simply being well-connected & influential enough.... yet, here she is someone who understands how micro-societies work, and has the foresight to think four steps ahead. The money and power certainly help.... but so far, with her perception, she seems like a tough opponent to outsmart.
Watching Ha-Rin in action is like watching those chill but insidious spiders that carefully spin their webs around oblivious little insect preys, and before you know it, she's feasting on a well-deserved buffet... it's mildly revolting yet superbly fascinating. 🔥
To say that the actress is doing a good job is an understatement. And a disservice, considering this is her debut role!

Exactly! Class rep is the first one that I connected with Ouran then Ha rin being the evil ver of Tamaki xD
Totally agree with your description of Ha-rin, she’s SO chillingly (?) manipulative that even when Su-ji outsmarts her sometimes, it’s not enough. And OMO, it’s a debut role? 👏 👏 👏

Oh, and Suji is totally like Haruhi, eh? The dead mom, the monologues, the 'i must avoid troublemakers & i mustn't get entangled with the rich kids...', her initial interactions with the *sunshine* Ha-Rin (evil Tamaki).... hahahaha! I could go on!~ Oh, and the school decor is pretty much *exactly* like the opulent Ouran High!
Sheesh, I should not have entertained this chain of thoughts. Now I cannot watch future episodes without *kiss kiss, fall in love* playing through my head! 🤣

I decided to watch this after kinda getting bored with The Impossible Heir. I'm ep 2 seven minutes there. I switched to episode 1 of Pyramid Game and I finished all 4 episodes so quickly. There was no boring scenes and I'm liking Bona's character and the main female lead. Despite the bullying topic it was enjoyable to watch I mean not in a way that I like bullying just it is an easy watch. Like I said it was not boring. What throws me off every now and then is the "gl" moments. They obviously making it romance in a lover kind of way between two girls when they could just make it friendship themed. I am cringing at those moments but aside from that I think this was really good

Ep 5 and 6 were crazy good! I just realized that more than psychological mind games, both the anatgonist and protagonist are using SWOT analysis of the characters in the classroom to take advantage of the game. Although on the outside it looks like Soo Ji and Eun Ja are making allies by being diplomatic, it is the friendship that is earning them points and this is the biggest lesson that Soo Ji learns to one up Ha Rin.
I was disappointed with the dad's reaction because I thought he would be a righteous man and cause ruckus in the school. Ha Rin's control over her dad also was a lame reveal, but I like the use of the wild card character, Eun-Byeol.

Never thought I’d see SWOT analysis on DB but that explains how they’re approaching the game. I’m still confused with the names but I’m sure they’re a few more other students that will surprise us like Eun-byeol.

This drama has been a very pleasant surprise. I hope it continues to remain strong for the last two episodes. I've seen all eight episodes, and they have been strong episodes and keeping me wanting more.
I LOVE these types of dramas. I would categorize this drama like Numbers, and Payback: Money and Power where you have the dark side makes a move, and the good side counters, and this series continues until the good side defeats the dark side.
The cast of actresses is OUTSTANDING.
I've recently saw a short on YouTube with shade being thrown at Jang Da-A for being the older sister of K-Pop member of IVE.
Jang Da-A is holding her own in this drama and standing on her own merits. Also she can hold her own in the looks department. She is very pretty.
I hope to see these actresses in future roles.

Okay, so the drama was good till the end. Soo Ji was a strong protagonist who takes no shit and calls a spade a spade. Eun Ja was the emotional anchor that kept Soo Ji grounded in her plans. Baek Ha Rin turning from a victim into a bully was tragic and horrifying at the same time, but it still doesn't excuse her actions. The other supporting characters were also well written and acted. Given the success, I am glad that the writer decided to wrap up all the parts without leaving things out in the open, in hopes of getting another season.
My ratings 8/10.

I thought, the show was about one bad apple poisoning the bunch.
Repeating every episode that it was everyone's game was a ridiculous, but fitting and brilliant saying. The distribution of power was always unequal, but at the end of the day, majority still could make a change.
The other points I appreciated the show for:
- The low-key GL story on the background was a pleasant surprise. A significant portion of the entertainment industry is made of gay people, so the ostracization of sexual minorities by the same industry always saddens me. Such background scenes are a step forward.
- The FL's dad actually taking responsibility and becoming a better parent. With independent and smart children, who are trusted by their parents, there is often a point when the line between negligence and trust is blurred. I loved that the show recognized that and did not villainize the dad, instead, simply letting him see his mistake.
-The villain never getting a redemption arc or the pity points. It was somewhat hilarious when the show threw at us this sob story and then swiftly added that it still does not explain much and the villain is still a psychopath.
