I'm blanking on the premise for Wedding Impossible. Does anyone remember what it is? It feels like that one has just snuck up on us

Isn't this one where the chaebol heir is gay, but asks his female friend to marry him to disguise that fact in a contract marriage? Then she falls in love with his brother, or something like that. But I'm just going from the last News bite.

After reading that I remember thinking that its about time that Korea legalize same-sex marriages so that this premise would lose its rationale, and the show could be called "(Fake) Wedding Unnecessary"

I hope the drama doesn’t turn the gay character into a miserable and tragic person. Things are hard enough for the LGBTIQ folk in RL and they don’t need dramas to pile on. This one’s a chaebol heir though so is at least financially secure and doesn’t have to worry about how to survive if people find out about this aspect of his life.

I think I totally misunderstood the premise of this show at first (because I’m not familiar with the actors and didn’t know who the leads were), but this news bite helped clarify for me! It’s the FL who fake-marries the ML’s hyung and then I’m sure inevitably falls for her fake brother-in-law instead. Could be a fun change up from the usual contract romance!

The ML was the 2nd son in Under the Queen's Umbrella, who later became CP and King. I think this is his first lead role, not sure if he has the acting range to carry it off though...

He just looks like a baby - too young to match up in both look and acting with Jeon Jong-seo. Her character is a failed actress landing this acting assignment according to the last News Bite.

Oooh interesting! It does sound like the premise would make for some hilarious situations :))

"...with the former playing Jang Nara’s (My Happy Ending) latest troublesome husband..."

I had to LOL at this comment. Currently watching My Happy Ending and Jang Nara most certainly has so many troublesome husbands in dramaland (haha)

Right? My Happy Ending is certainly making a mark for itself as a milestone crappy husband though haha

I hope Song Joong-ki will get his s... together. He is talented, but his acting in "Reborn Rich" was disappointing.

His acting has been disappointing for some years now. It is like he doesn't want to exert himself when he can depend on his looks.

I'm confused about this on multiple levels? Song Joong Ki is good looking enough to coast on his looks? His acting was "disappointing" in Reborn Rich? He's been disappointing for YEARS?

How is this the case? Wasn't his last project before Reborn Rich, Vincenzo?

I don't know his filmography like that so I can only name like 5 dramas but how is he a highly paid A list actor if he's a mediocre actor?

And yes, as I write that, I know there's many a celebrity that can fall into that category but I'm asking about him specifically.
Especially since he's had backlash in recent months (possibly years) that would make me think he would have to let his work speak for him vs his popularity or superficial metrics.

I have seen most of his dramas, and the last one he was amazing in was Nice Guy.

Since Descendants of the Sun his acting has become completely colourless, with indifferent eyes, and flat line delivery.

I never say he is a mediocre actor. He has lost his spark. He used to become the character with his whole body and mind. Now he just goes through his lines with no deep emotions.

His acting was great in vincenzo and arthdal. You may not like the drama but how can you say he’s colorless in those performances?

1

He was excellent in Vincenzo and Reborn Rich.
which to me was better than some of his former drama.

I do have to say Vincenzo got me in all the feels in the best way. So I'm giving him kudos there he did a great job.

I don't think I had any particular complaints about his acting in Reborn Rich, although I can't say I was incredibly impressed either. It was just good, met the bar, did not exceed.

2

I liked him in Vincenzo, but I will admit that I think it's hard for any actor once they get super super popular to break out of a typecast character, whether by their own habit or at the request of directors etc.

Even Namgoong Min, who I think is a FABULOUS actor, has had streaks for me where I can't help but think: isn't this the same character as xyz 3 other shows? I think My Dearest was a good one because it felt new and fresh again after his zany, secretly super smart characters and his dark, brooding agent/cop characters

"Vincenzo" was a fun watch, as it was written to his advantage. As a fan, I anticipated the references and easter eggs to his older dramas and movies like Tae-ho from "Space Sweeper," Yeo-rim from "Sungkyunkwan Scandal," the plants' names being Maru from "Innocent Man," Poong-ho from "Triple," Eun-som from "Arthdal," and Si Jin from DotS, etc.

Namgoong Min, and Lee Je-hoon too. I noticed they worked with some of the same writers or PDs before, so I think there is a particular loyalty when picking a project.

I didn't know that about Vincenzo! That makes it that much more of a hilarious and nuanced watch. I'm glad I know now!

Jaded is what I felt from him. This has probably to do with his personal life although we never know what actually happened in his divorce and the aftermath.

I guess that's a better way to put it. He can be amazing when he is placed in a situation like TWDR, where he has to act opposite veteran actors like Baek Yoon-sik or Kim Yeong-cheol in NG! I felt his absence even when the great Han Suk-kyu took over the role. It took me a bit to warm up to him, and Han, being Han, was charismatic as heck, but I wished Song Joong-ki's part was a little bit longer.
I had the same expectations of him with Lee Sung-min, but I didn't feel the same fire that gave his character life and purpose.
When you've seen better, you tend to be disappointed. I don't expect it all the time, but I thought that was a great setup for another excellent performance from Song Joong-ki.

Very well said, @kiara. Reborn Rich is disappointing (especially after Vincenzo which I was reluctant to start but ended up enjoying it a lot). One would expect flying sparks between SJK and LSM but it became a one man show.

I still remember SJK’s passion when he first started and how he shone in a wide range of supporting roles before becoming a lead. Let’s hope something will re-ignite him or he could choose to be another Won-bin.

I do, too. We have seen his evolution from appearing in variety shows, making cameo appearances, and supporting roles to finally landing a well-deserved lead role.
I know I'm harsh with my comment, but he isn't an actor who got lead roles handed to him because of his looks. He earned them.

Granted I have watched only two of Song Joong-ki’s dramas: TREE WITH DEEP ROOTS (2011) (Viki US) and ARTHDAL CHRONICLES 1 (Netflix) but I enjoyed his performance in both dramas.

Re his possible upcoming drama MY YOUTH after a cursory search I can’t find out anything about the story line/plot.
Over at MyDramaLand screenwriter Park Shi-hyun has only one other credit besides RUN ON (2020) (Netflix) and that is the film THE VERY ROSE (2021).
I will stay tuned.

1. He does seem to have a fountain of everlasting youth hidden somewhere on his person.

2. As long as we get a dance lineup, kol!

3. Ho-hum. I prefer a sword welding Flower that Blooms at Night, thank you.

4. Good, fine, okay but where is Chansung?

5. Please dramagods can't our Jang Nara get a happy drama marriage. 😳

6. Ah! Ok then.
