When the teasers and trailers for The Kidnapping Day was flying around, it didn't catch my eye nor did it interest me. Had they paraded a prize in front of me so as to get me to watch, it will be for naught. However, the moment I decided to just give this drama a trial, I got warped into its wonderfully souled world. And now that it's over, that decision to give The Kidnapping Day a trial has absolutely no regrets.

Plus, I got to enjoy a fumbling bumbling Yoon Kye-sang. I do not know what exactly was distracting me whenever he was onscreen. Was it his face or his full hair that accentuated his head?

It did come out from the left ... but good that Beanies caught it and spread the word!
Win win.

The thing I liked the most about this show is the heart. The dynamic between the lead characters, Myeong Jun and Jun, is one of best I've ever seen (if not the best). Myeong Jun is just a good guy. He is compassionate and caring and his "dumbness" is so endearing and probably really relatable to people haha. Ro Hee is wise beyond her years but she still shows the vulnerabilities of a child that just makes you want someone to genuinely look out for her.

Others can better talk about the complexities of the antagonists but for me the entire draw of this drama was the relationship between Myeong Jun and Ro Hee.

I think all the actors did a good job, especially the child actress playing Ro Hee. Seriously, I can totally see her playing chaebols and stoic bosses as well as those cold on the outside, warm on the inside types when she's older.

This not a stereotypical kidnapping story where we either follow the victim's rescue or understand and root for the kidnapper's motive. Any beanie who watched it will guarantee that it is one of a kind, a special one at that and the story is quick enough in establishing that uniqueness.

Certain elements in the inital two episodes made me skeptic, but I was quickly won over by the earnestness in the relationship between the protagonists. The mystery isn't that difficult to put together, but that does not bring down the fun factor in the story.

Acting of the child actor is top notch and I recommend you to watch it as soon as your current kdrama starts to fall apart in the later half. My ratings: 9/10

As a veteran kdrama watcher, nothing gives me bigger pleasure than discovering a drama gem where the least is expected. And The Kidnapping Day falls very nicely into this category and becomes one of the best dramas in 2023.

As commented by the others, the relationship between the kidnapper and the kidnapee is the heart and soul of this story. It’s underscored by a well plotted backstory giving you intrigues, laughters and tears within the right number of 12 episodes. Besides the superb performance from Yoon Kye-sang, Kim Shin-rok and Park Sung-Hoon as you’d expect, Yu-na delivers a knock out portrayal at such a tender young age whose career I will closely watch from now on. Very pleased to see the goofiness of YKS again which seems missing for probably the past decade. Then Park Sung-hoon is perfect as the no-nonsense and thinking cop who should become a lead again. And what can I say abou KSR who can deliver whatever role she’s given but her role here is unforgettable and will stay with us for a long, long time.

All other side characters are consistent and have their chance to shine. I could easily say at least 10 characters stand out in their own right in this story.

Finally, this is one drama that started strong but ended brilliantly - quite a rare feat these days. Easily a 9/10 if not 10/10.

This is one I am sorely missing not being able to watch. I hope I can find it somewhere somehow sometime to watch it.

Well, I started on the dark side until it’s not technically salvageable…. Subscribed a 30-day free trial with Prime Amazon which still has another 20 days left….

This is exactly what I feel about the drama, which I just finished. I oved the relationship and Yuna, who played Choi was brilliant.
Many shows outstay their welcome, but episode 12 was fantastic at providing a coherent mystery solved, motivations from each, heart and emotion and such a satisfying ending. Seeing character development all around. SRK was so good in her role and ultimately a downfall for her arc, but in a multi-dimensional way. You understand, even if you don't agree, why she did what she did.
If anything deserves a continuation and second season (does the underlying book, "Yoogweui Nal" go further?) than this Show does.

I am about half-way through this drama and it is wonderful. Will follow the wise advice to keep this gem in reserve for when my live-watches start to run downhill (like water, right Lord Cobol?).

This one is stellar in its cast - acting - story line and just all around great. There are no stupid angst moments where a character throws themselves under anything for the supposed betterment of someone else. The wicked are just that and get their just deserts. The loved ones are real and do not cling with any me-me-me moments. The love felt and given is without any pretends or you have to earn it to receive it. It was a joy to watch it unfold between all, from a young old mature child, and an adult that sometimes fumbled, but wanted only the best for any and all. Even the cops had you cheering for them as they endeavored to figure it all out. I had no pre-thoughts or ideas going into this that it would be this marvelous of a ride and watch. Enough suspense to keep you wondering, but not telegraphed interactions to give it away when it took you along with it. Would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a finely crafted all round production!

this is the gem of 2023! impeccable acting from the leads. coherent storyline and great resolution (meaning the ending sticks the landing!). if you like Yoon Kye-Sang, he has matured as an ahjussi in this role, but the character is a bumbling kidnapper with a heart. Jeon Yu-Na is someone to look out for, she's an amazing actress at such a young age. conveying her smarts without coming off as annoying. if i have to rate this 9/10!
