Better than Season1 - made purely for the sake of fanservice and understood the assignment perfectly. Leave the critical thinking at home and enjoy the ride)))

To put things into perspective. I have been lurking on Dramabeans for 11+ years, but it's only now that I had to create an account to vent here.

I have been really bothered by most fashion choices in this drama. It really didn't feel much like 1938. I am not a fashion guru, I'm not even too hung up on fashion in general, but it definitely sets the tone and it was most of the time an eyesore for me. Most of the time.

There have been many more things that were not quite right, but I am a veteran drama binger, so I know when to shut down my brain and pretend that logic doesn't exist, for example...

I loved season one and I had high hopes for this, too. But history should have taught me better (pun intended). Another one that I have watched just for them fine actors...

Welcome to the comments. I hope offloading will lead to some relief. Sorry I can’t respond to your frustrations as I didn't watch this drama, too scary for me.

I can’t believe that over the 11 years you have not been pushed to the edge before with all the issues there have been during that time. I hope now you have joined the party there will be some celebrations that have to be shared too.

Even all the comments on the Good Bad Mother haven't triggered me as much, and boy! did they trigger me or did they!?

I'll pass on the advice that many gave me: you don't need to watch s1 to understand this season, at all! This is defs watchable as a standalone, and by most accounts, way better than season 1 anyways apparently.

Overall this drama was a really fun watch, start to finish. Maybe not in content matter but you can tell (to use the words of @daebakgrits) that everyone involved had a lot of fun making it, and it made watching it really fun too - plot holes and all (if anything, to me at least, the plot holes were welcome and part of the fun).

One of my favourite things was the cinematography & direction of the drama. The way it was shot made me feel like I was watching a movie at the theatres, which meant emotions felt heightened, the stakes felt higher, and the end felt really bittersweet because I felt like I'd spent such a long time with - and had invested a lot of emotions into - the main characters. And speaking of, the bromance between Rang and Yeon really was the emotional core of the drama, and held a lot of the moving parts together - 👏 👏 👏 from me.

Did it not have flaws? It had a fair few, including narrative inconsistencies, deux ex machina-esque plot devices, sometimes one-note characters and a slightly polarising last two episodes BUT as @gikata said in their review, this is very much a 'don't think too hard and just enjoy' kind of drama!

Would I recommend? Very much so!! This is as K-drama as a K-drama could get, and I can see this becoming a classic down the line. If you like want a good 'movie' feel, a bit of everything genre wise (including some meta level satire), and some great performances - this is the show for you!!

This is meant for people who wants to have a fun time, lots of thrills and laughter. Not for those who wants logical explanation for every scene/ decision/ action taken.

Is it scary? Nope, scare factor is only 10% of what season 1 (and I watched up to episode 3 only) offered.

Is it funny? I laughed out loud at many scenes, in delight and surprise.

Does one need to watch season 1 before this? Absolutely NOT.

When is the best time to watch it? Over a weekend, just binge watch all 12 episodes with lots of favourite snacks, drinks and tissue.

Tale of the nine tailed 2 starts of spunky with pointy humor and meta, but loses track of that spark by bringing in unnecessary characters and plotlines that feel like a chore. I wish it had stayed true to the camp and tingly balance that touched heartstrings while making you spit snot laughing.
I so would have loved to see more of the past yeon cause he is HOTTTTTTT (assuming he goes through rehab) and also not showing us at all how Jia is doing in the future I think was a mistake. for connectiveness sakes.
Also, ok, Rang got to make mends with his bro twice I guess so ... but, even more so, he should be alive in the future, too, especially if he has full fox powers? It is a bit weird.

can we maybe just get an augmented reality game with them where you can just see them put a shirt on ...and off... and on...and off.... and yknow, you could just feed Rang some kimbap and tie is necktie. virtual human doll. is this too kinky?

My favorite scene was probably the fight between past and future Yeon. It seemed like the trickest one as well. getting the reactions right both ways-

This is a fun drama with a beautiful, charismatic cast--at times, visually stunning setting, costumes and characters. There are thrills and some scary parts, but all done in a fantasy/mythological setting with lots of heart. The plot was opaque at times and some of the villains were standard types but that didn't take away too much from the enjoyment of the show. Great watch overall. No need to see the first.
