Jang Nara takes charge of Jang Hyuk and their Family
by tccolb
A new video teaser has landed for tvN’s upcoming comedy Family, with a little more focus on our heroine Jang Nara (Sell Your Haunted House), the true top dog in their household of six. Although husband Jang Hyuk (Red Heart) is a badass secret agent, at home he’s just a regular Joe dad and sits at the bottom of the family hierarchy.
Filling out the middle ranks, we have their daughter Shin Soo-ah together with her grandpa Lee Soon-jae (Behind Every Star), as well as uncle Kim Kang-min (The Golden Spoon) and aunt Yoon Sang-jung (Shooting Stars).
The teaser begins with a sulky Kang Yura (Jang Nara), who is described in voiceover as the person who should never be disturbed in their family. Brother-in-law Kwon Ji-hoon (Kim Kang-min) often slips, though, and provokes her wrath – all the while Lee Mi-rim (Yoon Sang-jung) watches in shock from the sidelines.
But the wiser Kwon Do-hoon (Jang Hyuk) knows all the tricks to seek mercy and Yura allows him a minute’s time to placate her anger. An animated Do-hoon defends that he’s been kneeling in penance the whole time and funnily keeps looking up as if she’s standing before him, even though they’re talking over the phone.
We see that the confident Yura doesn’t shy from conflict, whether it be a glare-off with Do-hoon’s boss Chae Jung-ahn (King of Pigs), stopping a fight between Ji-hoon and Kwon Woong-soo (Lee Soon-jae), or dealing with young Min-seo’s (Shin Soo-ah) tantrum. In the intermittent text screens, we read, “No one can dare approach the perfect woman in the top number one spot of the household hierarchy.”
Yura’s driving motivation, though, is to be a happy family and she rallies the group to make Woong-soo’s 80th birthday a grand celebration. But, despite the hijinks, the teaser closes on a curious note with Do-hoon being shocked at seeing his wife. In voiceover, Yura narrates, “An ordinary family’s risky double-life. Family premieres April 17.”
Co-directed by PD Jang Jung-do and PD Lee Jung-mok, with scripts by Jung Yoo-sun (That Man, Oh Soo), tvN’s Family will be broadcasting on April 17, following Our Blooming Youth in the Monday-Tuesday slot.

I am so looking forward to the joy that this is going to bring; showing a family that is strong in good and bad times through humour always a winner for me. This will be a no food or drink watch to avoid food sprays and stitch.

Glad that Jang Nara is not playing a meek character. Looks like her role will be pretty equal to Jang Hyuk's. Both look tough and resilient in their own ways.
They just need to be careful in not making her (or him) abusive in their rants or remarks.

My excitement level is through the roof! Trying to temper it in case this drama is not available to me. But I know this is going to be great.
