Our weekend slots explode as usual, though, and Crash Course in Romance makes its way to the list of tvN’s super successful dramas, while Divorce Attorney Shin lands nice opening week numbers, likely to climb.

Next weekend, sports interrupt some regular broadcasts.

It's clear as day that trot>kpop in the eyes of k-viewers from The Heavenly Idol's ratings. Pity. Maybe if they let Rembrary to sing (and sexy dance) more...

Few days ago Viki reported that OBY is apparently a huge hit there - #1 in 10+ countries and among top2-5 in many the others, being their most popular show rn. Hmm. Doesn't feel so though with a rather mild buzz on sns and serious lack of fan-content befitting truly trendy drama. It does seem to make some serious waves on SEA Prime, esp Philippines love it based on data. So far the drama gets rather mixed reception everywhere I checked, so where all those high numbers come from? I'm not complaining in the slightest, but something just doesn't add up here.

My wife likes OBY which mixes mystery elements with Sageuk.

Maybe it's one of those rare cases where people who's really into it just don't comment online much? Because there's a lot of criticism for sure, warranted and not, while high praises aren't that common for a supposedly worldwide popular show. Like there's no big dedicated fandom to hype the show up. Who made all this impressive data possible then - dedicated haters?)))

The problem is that most of those who like it are burning peony incense while they watch. Not only does their hair turn gray, they forget what they thought about it. Their buzz occurs as the incense is burning.

Oh, so it's a package deal from Viki - buy subscription and get incense merch for free? Not bad for a promo. Maybe they should try fruits baskets from CP next)))

Heavenly Idol should have been a streaming show like "Drink Now, Work Later". Also, it needs a good editing team that can actually convince the PD + Writer that the evil stuff is boring.

Yes, it would've do great on TVING - or Netflix, given main actor's post-ABP popularity there.

I actually think its a casting issue. Even in Korea, where kpop artists make the leap to kdramas aIl the time, its hard to assemble a group of artists who sing and dance well. Whereas, its pretty easy to get actors whose eyes can be turned red with cgi. In fact, I believe even I could play that role.

They could've just hire ACTUAL idols. It's not like other Wild Animal members have meaty roles requiring a lot of acting skills, let's be honest here. Musical actors would've do well too, and there's plenty of relatively cheap rising stars among them who can pass for idols looks-wise.

I think Koreans do not like Idol dramas in general. Most of them obtained low ratings, look at Sh00ting Stars and Behind Every Stars.

Yes, this trend's star has fallen ages ago domestically. Can't really blame them - idols are everywhere in SK 24/7, which must've been exhausting for everyone who's not a hardcore kpop fan.

I'm one. I have nothing against Kpop, but if you don't like the music, usually the stars tend to be young, so it has limited appeal beyond the demographic.

THREE BOLD SIBLINGS is finishing with decent ratings for a weekender, but at the expense of adding dramatically nonsensical elements in its final episodes.

Bravo, Crash Course in Romance. You definitely crash your way into TvN's top ten highest rated drama of all time and top ten highest drama from cable television of all time.

The actors sell it for me and make me want to watch it. I have enjoyed it so far. I will watch Jung Kyung-ho pick cherries off a tree. He's one of my first kdrama loves. Has anyone noticed how pretty his hands are? Piano hands for sure!

The power of good acting saved it. I'll watch both main leads in anything.

I wonder if Jung Kyung-ho completely recovered from his back injury during "Heartless City." He hasn't done any action-heavy drama since then.

I would have preferred to watch him pick cherries off a tree than the disappointing last 3 to 4 episodes of Crash. Re his pretty hands with piano fingers, one of my favorite images in Heartless City was when he was talking to the chief on the phone after he found out that Soo had been taken and he rubs his hand over his lips. It’s this scene

The actors (CCIR) deserve these ratings. So even if I'm not happy with the show itself, I'm glad it got this much love.
For the first time I forgot about Soo Young and I started shipping KH with another woman. 😆 I will never forget Chi Yeol's eyes, Chi Yeol's look.

KH won the daesang (in my heart) because of this performance.

crash course ended on a sour note for me, but I always loved our main couple and I'm happy to see their good performance to be met with high ratings. the whole cast did a good job with what they got from script, but JDY and JKH were really the stars. I had high expectations to see them together and they didn't disappoint.
