Big Bet: Episodes 1-16 (Drama Hangout)
by DB Staff
Disney+ might have cut Big Bet into two parts, but this is your one place to chat about the drama, whether you watched the first episode and are trying to decide if you want to watch more, or if you’re ready to dive into the concluding half of the drama.
Beware of spoilers! This thread is for discussing the entire series.

One of my all-time favorite dramas! Excellent cast and story. Started Season 2 last night on Hulu, watched 3 of the 4 available episodes. Great entertainment, not for the faint of heart.

The presentation of this show is the absolute worst for long-time K-drama fans.
12 episodes total. 3 episodes at once to whet your appetite, then one episode a week for 5 weeks. Then a 3-week hiatus just to hang onto subscribers for one more month.
3 more episodes at once, then the finale episode the next week. I admit I'm impatient and used to getting my K-drama fix 2 episodes a week, but wow, this was terrible. It's a high-tension drama, and they've done everyone possible to dissipate the excitement and make the live-viewer lose enthusiasm.
Anyway, it's a fantastic drama. Since all the episodes will be available next week, I do recommend it. At least you won't have to deal with the frustration of Disney/Hulu's wonky schedule. Gosh, they really don't know how to present K-dramas.
For those looking forward to seeing Son Seok-gu beasting out (I was), he doesn't appear until the end of Ep.5, and has mostly been a nerd until now. In the penultimate episode, you finally see the fury building...
So, looking forward to the finale.

I watched it for Son Seok-gu. It's got an interesting premise, but I only showed up for SSG, although I did stay for him and the story. However, because he's the reason I picked it up, I started from episode 5, since I'd heard that's when he shows up.
It's a good show, and I'll likely check out season 2. For my man SSG, and also for the story. I think it would have benefitted more from a one-time episode drop, like Netflix does with its originals (Extracurricular, A Modern Family, The Glory).
Disney should leave kdramas alone. Or get with the program and give us our two episodes a week. Just saying.

The episodes being doled out the way they are is a head scratcher.
That aside, I’m enjoying the good cast and story.
If crime genre is what you like, I am also enjoying the C drama The Knockout, which shows over a 20 year span, a lowly fish seller’s eventual rise to crime boss.
During this time we see a honest cop’s crime fighting efforts thwarted by corrupt cops and politicians.

I just finished this today. Am rooting for a Season 3. It is not for your regular Kdrama viewer. The ending is fitting for Moo-sik, although I grew fond of him. That ending was a stunner but I do get why Jung-pal did what he did.
