Kim Tae-ri is haunted by The Devil in first teaser
by solstices
The first teaser for writer Kim Eun-hee’s upcoming thriller The Devil (previously Demon) may be short, but it’s already enough to send chills down my spine. It’s certainly reminiscent of the haunting creepiness that made Kingdom such a nerve-wracking yet riveting watch.
The teaser opens with a chilling scene — a dead person suspended in midair, their legs illuminated by the moonlight. Below, a white-haired being crouches, though we can’t see what they’re doing.
Neither can Gu San-young — played by Kim Tae-ri (Twenty Five Twenty One) — who cautiously approaches. In voiceover, she narrates that there’s a different world beyond the door, in which evil devils lurk. After the death of her father, played by Jin Seon-gyu (Big Bet), the keepsake she receives from him draws her towards otherworldly events.
That’s how she gets involved with Yeom Hae-sang — played by Oh Jung-se (Little Women) — whom we see running down a highway in the teaser. Is he chasing down a wayward ghoul, or escaping from a malicious entity? Either is equally possible, given that he has the ability to see supernatural beings. Through San-young, he comes face-to-face once again with a very familiar devil — the one that’s possessing her is the same one that murdered his mother.
Though detective Lee Hong-sae — played by Hong Kyung (Weak Hero Class 1) — doesn’t appear in this teaser, he’s sure to play an integral role in investigating the suspicious deaths in San-young’s vicinity. Given that he’s the only one of the trio who isn’t involved with the paranormal (at least for now), I’m excited to see what he’ll bring to the table.
Directed by Lee Jung-rim (VIP) and written by Kim Eun-hee (Jirisan), SBS’s occult mystery The Devil will premiere in June this year.

If all I knew about this was Oh Jung-se and Kim Tae-ri, that would still be enough for me to give this a try. Excited to see more as it gets closer!

At least some Beanies would be more eager for a new show if DB said "by the writer of [names of best shows]" instead of "writer of [recent trainwreck]"
And Jirisan wrecked even more painfully because of the high expectations from the writer and cast.

This looks good! A very different role for Kim tae-ri. I love Oh Jung-se so its a go for me. It can be gripping without showing blood and gore. Its in what they don't say or show to get the point across. Does this make sense? My words fail me yet again.
