Jeon So-ni and Park Hyung-shik face curses and false charges

A new teaser has arrived for tvN’s Our Blooming Youth and we finally get a better look at our runaway heroine Jeon So-ni (Dr. Brain) along with our cursed prince Park Hyung-shik (Soundtrack #1).

The lonely crown prince Lee Hwan (Park Hyung-shik) is said to carry a dark and mysterious curse. But while the noble Min Jae-yi (Jeon So-ni) holds the key to saving Hwan, she’ll need some help in return now that she’s been framed for murdering her family.

In supportive roles, we have Jae-yi’s best friend and maidservant Pyo Ye-jin (Taxi Driver), Jae-yi’s formerly betrothed Yoon Jong-seok (Crime Puzzle), and the aspiring coroner Lee Tae-seon (Next Door Witch J).

The newly released video teaser opens on Hwan in training with his troops, when he’s suddenly hit by an arrow from behind. The appearing text screen describes him as: “The man who will lift the false charges.” We then cut to our battered heroine, who tries to fend off her pursuers despite being cornered on a cliff. In the following text screen, we read: “The woman who will lift the curse.”

In a quick sequence, we see how Jae-yi escapes by jumping off the cliff and into the water below, while Hwan chases after his attacker in the woods. Although our prince is wary when he first encounters Jae-yi, he is quick to hide her from her pursuers. The teaser then closes on Hwan making sense of their situation, realizing, “You need to protect me, and I need to protect you.”

With production led by writer Jung Hyun-jung (Lovestruck in the City) and PD Lee Jong-jae (Psychopath Diary), tvN’s fictional sageuk Our Blooming Youth premieres on February 6 in the Monday-Tuesday slot.

Looks like it will be on Vicki if they can find a Chanel manager. Crossing fingers for a kind hearted sub leader. : https://www.viki.com/tv/39181c-our-blooming-youth

Awesome. Now I can stop worrying about picking up pesky viruses from those *cough cough* other sites. The trials and tribulations of international fans. 🤣

Pity it won't get Netflix exposure, but yay to less stupid anachronisms in subs!

I hope this is good. Nice to get the Cliff of Doom out of the way in the trailer itself 😅

He sure does! Course he looks good no matter what he is in. Just saying he does my heart good! And yes, she fits the saeguk look very well!

It's his little bro, Cliff of Non-Doom - the most popular supporting character in all sageuks ever)))

Everything looks so dark, the story and the filters!

I need to see PHS in a good drama after the boring Soundtrack. 🤞

I have to say that my first impression of him, from the first few minutes into ep1 of Soundtrack, wasn’t very good.

It's his worse drama...

Pls forget about that drama's very existence - not only it had zero sense or plot whatsoever, he also was terribly overworked back then due to schedule overlap. Boy CAN act - at least when he's given more than 2 hours a week for sleeping.

As always I am a little late to the game so I have only seen four PHS dramas: HWARANG (2016/17), SWDBS (2017), SUITS (2018) and his first post military HAPPINESS (2021). while I enjoyed his performance in all four dramas for me he gave his best performance in SUITS.

It seems you may like his most-praised early project - drama special Sirius (it's on YT with subs, his parts are at the start of each episode). He was playing teen versions of leads (twin brothers) and really impressed people in that one. A VERY depressing watch, but it's the closest in terms of emotional complexity (and level of challenge) to his SUITS role.

SIRIUS! I completely forgot about that one! He was so so good playing twins. Yes a very depressing watch. The mother broke my heart into a thousand little pieces.

@mmmmm: Please watch ‘Happiness’ then. Despite zombies, it is really a love story at its heart and the two leads, Han Hyejoo and PHS shone.

Total opposite of me. Maybe, it just depend on my mood while watching a drama. I needed something light to balance my drama watching. For a music drama that just promotes songs, Soundtrackno1 is quite an easy and heartwarming watch imo. Not complicated and just tackled friends to lovers trope. Cliche' yes, but served as my break from watching serious drama plots. I also do find him natural in acting a guy inlove with his bestfriend. He has a nice gaze as if he rly is inlove.
I saw Sonee too in scripting your destiny and while she is still green, she has potential to be good.

I love this kind of story and was really excited to warch it. But the execution was disapointing, the characters not really interesting and they didn't have any chemistry that could save the rest...

As @kurama pointed out, problem with Soundtrack to me was in execution - on paper everything sounded great (simple plot, romantic winter atmosphere, beautiful actors, famous director), but then actual drama felt shockingly flat in all important aspects... Being released so soon after Happiness in which PHS had AMAZING chemistry with Han Hyojoo in similar friends-to-lovers setup probably didn't help either.

Yeah, his onscreen loving gaze is quite famous. Wonder if we'll see it in this show - sageuks can be really dry in their romance, substituting couple moments with couple angst...

FL on the run from false accusations ends up posing as Crown Prince's eunuch... Such a fresh, original concept, surely we've never heard of that in romance sageuks before))) Jokes asides, trailers look good. Never seen this actress in anything before, but visually she matches setting well (thank gods, because I'm REALLY tired of ladies with super obvious PS and/or heavy modern makeup in historical dramas). As for the acting part - we'll see. Just 4 weeks more *sigh*

P.S. Our CP is playing "annoying arrows" trope here? Oh well, how else we'll know that he's sooo badass and cool...

Jeon Soni was good and very likeable in a cute short drama called Scripting Your Destiny.

I agree. She really was. And, she was the younger version of the female lead in ‘When my heart blooms’. She was so wonderful in that too to the extent that overshadowed the female lead’s dull performance.

Yup, the female lead's blandness kept me away from that show despite my love for Yoo Jitae.

I think I recall some good words about her when the drama was first announced, but then again, you'll never know how well actor will do in a historical drama until you actually see them in one... Cautiously optimistic so far.

YAS PHS is my man! So excited! Something to look forward to after AoS 🥹. Idk why this drama’s title sounds like kittens frolicking in a slice of life modern south korea when the drama looks so dark but i’m here for whatever PHS shows up in

In Asia blooming flowers/trees are often seen as a metaphor for fleetingness of life. Maybe that's what it means here as well.

I'm still not over Park Hyung-sik's character in Happiness 😭. I'm not a sageuk fan so I don't know if I'll be able to watch this to fill the void. I really hope it's good enough for me to give it a watch.
