I just finished watching this a few minutes ago and I'm at loss. Even though it was hovering in the horizon May It Please the Court delivered its own version of The Light in Your Eyes' reversal and it owned it well.
Journeying with Chak-hee as she pieced piece after piece of her puzzle, despite knowing where it'll all end up, it held my attention, fear and worry. Each reveal delivering its own gut punch. I got shivers, never knowing what comes in next.
Even after knowing Haraboji Jang was plain evil, I wasn't prepared for the extent his evil shroud spread.
Same as Jang Gi-do. I can't believe it is Jung Jin-young delivering these lines. What with my fav veterans in villain-without-abandon capacities of late. The word 'vermin' really gave me creeps. In the end, Gi-do's sentencing leaves me in unsatisfactory mood. The law is flawed. Sometimes it protects those it shouldn't, and overpunishes those it shouldn't. If only, if only we all know the law, would we all get the kind of liniency Gi-do got? Or is it more than a knowledge of the law? Is it a result of privileged pedigree? Time and time again I feel like the punishment doesn't match the crime in Kdramas. I won't be fazed if this happens in real life cause it does, everyday.
I want to see Jung Ryeo-won and Lee Kyu-hyung in a drama soon, individually or as a pair. But not in a murder/killer themed story. Just something light.
I came in for the comedy that was promised. MPITC delivered something else. And this time, it's a reminder to the police brutality that occured in the 80's.
I also like the school of thought it poses about apology letters. I didn't know they had such huge impacts in sentencing.
The call to the people not to fall for apologies made on video press conferences had me in a haze for a while. I didn't expect generousity and gullibility to be implied in the same context.
I hear you May It Please the Court. I hear you.
For giving an ending of hope, and another Yogurt taking scene between Momma and Son at the end was one of the nicest ways to wrap up this comedy turned heavy drama.

Were we ever told what happened during the night Chak-hee lost her memories? Did I miss it by chance?
I feel bad for Yiyeon. Her life must have been hell. I hope she can move on now and be free of her coping mechanisms like drinking, smoking, for the guilt and burden she carried. Can't imagine coming from a family like that.
This is one of those rare dramas where instead of getting super mad at the crazy evil antagonists, I weirdly enjoyed watching their scenes. Jang Gido is such a freaking clown, lol! Whenever he cries crocodile tears I can't help but find it funny. He should've been an actor, not a politician.
Chakhee's character development was written really well, and the leads were great actors. The scene where Chakhee tells Sibaek that her grandma was killed, and vowing to drag senior Jang's name through the mud was amazing.
Gotta say, I liked this drama. It was short and I was engrossed in the mystery, eagerly waiting for the next ep each week. I think some plots needed more time to be wrapped up, but overall, it was enjoyable.

This drama was pretty confusing. But the 2 last episodes were pretty good. I think they were lucky to have good actors to make it better.

For a newbie writer, this drama wasn't half as bad as the ones written by experienced.

This is one of the few kdramas I have watched where I thought an extra episode was required. It felt a little rushed, and as previously discussed, there were a few loose ends that I would have liked to see tied off better.
Having said that, it was a really enjoyable watch, and even though I thought the ML wasn't the killer, it didn't allow me relax 100% which was great. The fact he was so closely involved himself was also good. The villain was irredeemable, and both his father and his use of the word 'vermin' said all we needed to know about the characters.
I also started this drama off thinking it would be lighter but was pulled into the story enough to stick it out even though the torture scenes are usually something I would have avoided other dramas for. Both leads were really strong, and I'd love to see both in a drama together again (possibly a lighter one too!).
Lot's to recommend this drama.

Yeah, it did need an extra episode. I felt like it could have even gotten to a whole 16 episodes if they incorporated more Yiyeon, CEO's wife, and Chak-hee's dad and checked back in with the open-ended stories of some of Chak-hee's earlier cases.
The drama goes by so quick, I think I must have missed out on Chak-hee's dad sideplot. When Gido was like I'm going to get Chak-hee, her dad, and Si-baek, I was like "wow, I forgot about him". I know he was an overly busy reporter and now a baker who sometimes blogs.

The things I was really enjoying about this drama sadly took a backseat in the second half. Didn't help that I found Gi-do as a villain entirely unexciting, especially when he got so unbelievably sloppy at the end with the obvious Park Duk-man frame job. Chak-hee's investigation was also very underwhelming in its simplicity and, in my eyes, her successful one-woman-mission only managed to cheapen the already shoddy police investigation as a whole. What I enjoyed: The acting from the entire cast but especially the two leads, Shi-baek's background reveal, the characters' wackiness in the face of hardship, and the uplifting last scene.

I like to think that the sloppiness was due to desperation. I got a lot of satisfaction watching Gi-do seeing his plans getting thwarted over and over.

As mentioned by others, the drama ended on a solid note. Wish they had maintained the light undertone, but with a backstory like that, I don't think it is possible. I found the whole police investigation lacking and boring, but after the finale I understood that it was to parallel the olden days where a case was closed by pinning an innocent person with a bit of an imaginative story by the police. The leads and their chemistry was the sole selling point of the drama.

I finally got around to watching the last episode.
I wasn't completely wrong about the "culprit", but I wouldn't have thought of the motive so quickly. I am glad that Si-baek was really not involved.
For my taste, Chak-hee was able to reveal Si-baek's true identity too easily and too quickly. More time could have been spent on this, it would have added to the suspense.
It's a pity that the humour came too short in the last episodes. I thought the mixture in the first episodes was very good.

Some things I really loved, some things I really hated in this drama. Loved Chakhee and the actress was super good. But on the other hand endend up hating Sibaek... because they wanted us to believe he was the murder they ruined the character. He did nothing for me... never said anything real, and did pretty much nothing the whole drama.
And I don't believe it possible he never suspected who the real culprit was. Not even when he was drugged? And they never really explained what happened when the grandad died. Did he see anything or not?
And I find it unbeliveable that the police let him go free. At least obstruction of justice... not even that?
Too many things left unexplained, too many things happening in the last two episodes.

Enjoyed the series; no regrets about watching it, and the last two episodes kept my attention for sure.
In fact, I would have enjoyed an epilogue. I would have wanted to see what Chak-hee decides to do with Gi-do's shares. Haran saying she needed something she could blackmail Chak-hee with left me feeling a little hollow.
