Bickering lawyers toss around insults in Disney+’s May It Please the Court
by missvictrix
Disney+ has recently dropped its second teaser for the upcoming legal drama May It Please the Court, and I’m already loving the chemistry between our leads Jung Ryeo-won (Diary of a Prosecutor) and Lee Kyu-hyung (All of Us Are Dead). I mean, who doesn’t love some foul-mouthed-yet-good-natured bickering?
Jung Ryeo-won plays hotshot lawyer Noh Chak-hee, who’s known as a “crazy dog” who will do whatever it takes to win a case. Okay, nothing earth-shattering with that character description, but it looks like the fun will be in seeing her pitted against public defender Jwa Shi-baek (Lee Kyu-hyung), who seems her polar opposite.
The teaser opens with an interview-style feel, and we first meet Chak-hee who’s asked about Jwa Shi-baek. With haughty distain she makes fun of his odd name and scoffs. We then switch cameras to Shi-baek who’s asked about her, and he makes fun of her name as well, with some wordplay around how it sounds like “car (cha) key.”
The banter continues as they bad mouth and gossip about each other, and Chak-hee insists he’s a total lunatic, while Shi-baek insists she’s rude and unruly. The mock interviews escalate until, instead of seeing the two head-on, the footage maps them together so they’re facing each other. Shi-baek continues his car key joke and Chak-hee gives him the finger as the teaser comes to a close.
Helmed by PD Kang Min-gu (Itaewon Class) and written by Kim Dan, May It Please the Court premieres September 21 on Disney+.

The docu style interview reminds me of Our Beloved Summer. More trash talking version. I like the actors but it being on Disney+ is unfortunate.
