Yoon-ah tries to save Lee Jong-seok in MBC’s Big Mouth

With the premiere just a few days away, MBC’s Big Mouth has released a new highlights teaser, giving us a good peek at how the lives of our main characters become twistedly intertwined.

Our “Big Mouth” hero is the third-rate lawyer Park Chang-ho – played by Lee Jong-seok (Romance Is a Bonus Book) – who gets pulled into a conspiracy surrounding a new murder case. Accused of being the notorious con artist known as “Big Mouse,” Park finds himself taking on the moniker in order to protect himself and his family.

The teaser opens with a credit sequence of the cast and production crew before transitioning to the drama’s title card. Our hero struts into a large warehouse as he narrates, “You know the saying, it looks like comedy from a distance, but it’s tragedy when seen up close? This place is exactly like that. Do you know who the dirtiest of them is? Big Mouse.” In the accompanying text screens, we read: “The world calls him, Big Mouse.”

Lawyer Park continues that, “There are many types of Big Mouses in the world,” and we cut to his married life with Nurse Go Mi-ho – played by Yoon-ah (Hush) – who threatens, “If you lose the trial today, don’t even think about coming back to my house.” Alas, Park is bullied out of the courtroom and he sits sadly with his father-in-law Lee Ki-young (Business Proposal) afterwards.

We then cut to Kim Joo-hun’s (Soundtrack #1) Mayor Choi Do-ha, who hires our hero for a murder case. Choi explains, “You’re an incompetent lawyer, but you know how to follow instructions well. They want the verdict to be ‘innocent,’ but I want the truth.” Our heroine is rightly suspicious and a woman warns Park to be careful: “Taking on this case could lead to something terrible.”

Upon investigating, Lawyer Park reports to the Mayor that there’s an accomplice who ordered the murder. Park then confronts Yang Kyung-won (One Ordinary Day), who patronizes our hero for playing with toy knives. We then see our hero getting into a car accident, waking up in the hospital, and quickly getting arrested. In the news report, we hear that the con artist Big Mouse has been captured.

Nurse Go reassures Park, “I believe you, so stay strong and trust us. I’m going to resolve all of this.” In prison, our hero muses on the irony of losing his reputation in this way. Big Mouse fanboy Kwak Dong-yeon (Monstrous) is excited to show Park his mouse tattoo while another inmate drawls, “Are you really that so-called famous mouse?”

Facing off against both Mayor Choi and Hospital Director Hyun – played by Ok Ja-yeon (The Veil) – Nurse Go reveals that she thinks there’s a connection to the deceased Professor Seo’s unpublished dissertation. Suspecting that Director Hyun is hiding something, Go claims that she has the copy and snoops around the hospital for clues. She’s soon apprehended and warned, but Nurse Go doesn’t back down.

Back in prison, our hero despairs that the only thing he can do is die. He can reveal the truth in his will and the insurance payout will go to his wife. But a man cautions Park that those people will go after his family then. With new resolve, Lawyer Park vows, “All those jerks who went after me, thinking that they were the savage beasts. I’m going to bite and kill them all.”

As the teaser draws to a close, we see a series of text screens: “Friday, July 29 at 9:50pm. In order to survive, the truth needs to be revealed. A desperate struggle against a big conspiracy has begun.” Despite the danger, Nurse Go continues investigating and reasons, “Because I’m the person who knows him the best in this world.” Cycling through each of the main characters, we end on our hero who declares, “I’m going to show you loud and clear why I’m the Big Mouse.”

Co-directed by PD Oh Choong-hwan (Start-Up, Hotel Del Luna) and PD Bae Hyun-jin with scripts penned by Kim Ha-ram, MBC’s Big Mouth premieres July 29 in the Friday-Saturday slot.

He is a supporting character, nicknamed Jerry (from the WB cartoon, Tom and Jerry). As a con artist himself and a Big Mouse fan, he supports/helps Lee Jong-seok in prison. But that's a good prediction by @alset, he could be the real deal and is using the fanboy persona to hide his real identity.

The weekend just got thicker.
Kwak Dong Yeon and Ok Ja-yeon's villain eye persona here is something to not be refused.

I haven’t seen anything with Yoonah except a few clips of previous roles and she has come across as wooden and uninspiring. Is this an unfair impression?

Nope, lol. I was hoping she would be more of a side character than what is shown in the trailer, so this is not looking up.
i shall give it two episodes.

Can't find where this will stream in US...Kocowa is a major bait & switch, claiming to have the Big 3, then only maybe half the dramas or less streaming.

Can anyone help on US streaming? Thanks.

Disney+ licensed it so it won't be streaming in the U.S.

Right on about Kocowa. This MBC drama should have been made available on Kocowa. If the situation doesn’t improve I will be pulling the plug on Kocowa in September when my current subscription expires.

O/T. Another upcoming drama from the Kocowa big three (KBS, SBS, MBC) that will be premiering July 29 and is not on Kocowa is SBS’s TODAY’S WEBTOON.
The good news is that WEBTOON is on Viki US’s “Coming Soon” list and is being touted as a ‘Viki Original’. Go figure!

Further coming attractions. An upcoming KBS drama that should also be on Kocowa but currently is not listed is Ji Chang-wook’s IF YOU WISH UPON ME.
The good news is WISH is also on Viki US’s “Coming Soon” list with episode one airing Aug. 10.

Thank you Viki for picking up WEBTOON and WISH.
