Park Byung-eun gets snared by Seo Ye-ji’s ploys in new promos for tvN’s Eve

Promos for tvN’s melodrama Eve have set off with a striking new poster of Seo Ye-ji (It’s Okay to Not Be Okay), who stars alongside Park Byung-eun (Human Disqualification), Yoo Sun (Hush), and Lee Sang-yub (On the Verge of Insanity).

The revenge story is all about playing the long game. Seo Ye-ji’s character Lee Ra-el has been slowly hatching her plan since her father’s shocking death 13 years ago. Risking everything she has, each step in her scheme has been taken with precision and she is determined to take down her target, the top executive of a major conglomerate: Park Byung-eun.

Taking on the role of Kang Yoon-kyum, Park Byung-eun falls right into Seo Ye-ji’s trap and finds himself completely infatuated with her. This, of course, is problematic for his wife Yoo Sun – who plays the insecure and possessive Han So-ra. Rounding out the main cast, Lee Sang-yub is the outstanding politician Seo Eun-pyung, who is willing to do whatever it takes in the name of love.

The new teaser starts with Seo Ye-ji taking a bath while Park Byung-eun stands before a press conference. Park boldly tells the crowd, “I am in love with another person, who isn’t my wife.” We then cut to Yoo Sun reading about Park’s declaration in the news and she throws the tablet in a rage.

Elsewhere, Lee Sang-yub pores over a photo and he determines, “I’m right. That has to be Ra-el.” In a sequence of close-ups, we get one final look at each of the main cast before we close on Seo Ye-ji. Smiling at the camera, she leaves us with the telling statement, “That one person you desire even more, the more dangerous it gets.”

Written by Yoon Young-mi (Nice Witch, Birth of a Beauty) and directed by PD Park Bong-seop (Steal My Heart, The Uncanny Counter), tvN’s Eve premieres May 25.

This character is a huge leap for Park Byung-eun. It would be a good treat to see how he flexes those scary facial muscles he displayed in BTLIMF.

Drama gods, may my movie schedule accommodate this come May 25th.

I wonder if K-viewers will not watch because of Seo Ye-ji's unapologetic scandals.

I've written this before, but Seo Ye-ji's "scandals" seem so fake that I wonder, especially after watching episode 3 and 4 of Sh**ting Stars, if they weren't created either by a rival agency or by aides that she somehow offended. I have no doubt she's something of a diva, but that's hardly a scandal.

If you want a real scandal, look over in the U.S. at Johnny Depp's "defamation" trial. Depp makes the SS character Gong Tae-sung look like a saint. Plus the only decent movie out of dozens he ever acted in was one of his first, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and even that was a minor production.

Anyway, I like Seo Yea-Ji as an actress, and even if all the "scandals" are true, scandals at that level wouldn't make me miss the production. On the other hand, that revenge concept sounds like it might be a little iffy...

@hacja To be fair, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp seem to have been mutually abusive to one another and never should have dated.

Thank you for this unbiased comment, the scandals look so much like someone was out to witch hunt her. And for her to get a role so soon shows that she really isn't the person the media portrayed her to be. Maybe knets won't watch but I definitely know I'd be glued to my screen. I think she has suffered enough, and she did post an apology.
Let her breathe.

The industry is more heartless that it seems

Completely agree. I'm not sure the scandal was fake, but I certainly think it was amplified for reasons that had nothing to do with the actual substance of the controversy. Also, maybe I'm just old and jaded, but I do not understand why any of it became a public scandal at all. She and her boyfriend at the time were feeling jealous and insecure and expressed as much (in unflattering terms) in texts to each other. They then broke up, as people do when they aren't compatible. Frankly, I find it annoying that I even know this much about a private and mundane matter.

This drama doesn't look that interesting to me, but if I don't watch it won't have anything to do with Seo Ye-ji's romantic life.

I don't think the scandal was fake. Fake would mean that Seo, Ye-ji did not make those comments. I do agree with you that things were overblown to make her look bad. Maybe it's because I live in US, but things that she did do are, at worst, petty and diva-like.

She lied about graduating form a spanish college. On TV. I've seen the video, clear as day.
By the way, I'm from Spain and that's literally my college, La Complutense. I had to drop because I had to work. So she lied on tv about her currículum and it bothers me.
Think about if she lied about graduating from your H.S. o Uni for clout.
The boyfriend thing, I couldn't care less.

Please stop with the moral high ground. What's wrong if someone said they went to your school? Does it diminish the excellence of your school or your peers.
Also she has denied it severally that she finished from the university. Read this article that came out years ago, where she vehemently denied graduating college https://www.smlounge.co.kr/woman/article/36561
She may have said that on air for whatever reason but she came out to say again that she did not graduate.
Try and relax the w!tch hunt

I loved Seo Yea-ji in IOTNBO and I've been looking forward to her next piece of work. So I'm most likely watching this except I get overwhelmed with all my ongoing dramas and decide to binge watch after it airs

I like Seo Ye-ji as an actress, and i will at least give this a chance because the promos look intriguing, this role seems tailor made for her after her last drama.

As for her so called Scandal, most rational people in possession of their full mental faculties likely don't care.

I am excited for this. I've liked Seo Ye Ji since Moorim School( I unabashedly love that hot mess of a drama), and her being fabulous while getting revenge is so much fun.

I'm disgusted at the way scandals are feasted on by the "fans", and have seen so many times when it all turns out to be lies, usually created by ex-boyfriends or girl-friends, and yet a talented star has a career ruined. I couldn't care less if Seo Ye-Ji exchanged private texts with her boyfriend, and some disgusting little scandal-hand got hold of them and they were published: her private life is her private life. She's a wonderful actress and I will watch anything in which she appears.

I saw the news that half way through the production, production says, there is a problem, SYJ has not apologised. Then came her apology. I chunked, so comic. The 2nd FL lead looks promising, i like both MLs but i don't like this kind of drama cos also SYJ small waist looks scary. It's just what works for me and what does not.
