Premiere Watch: Again My Life, My Liberation Notes, Our Blues

Snap your fingers and suddenly the weekend slot is full of new dramas! Our three premieres this weekend each bring something different to the table, but not gonna lie, all of them seem worth checking out. Whether it’s for the writer or the cast or the PD, I’m definitely all ears eyes.

Again My Life

Time slot: Friday-Saturday
Broadcaster: SBS
Genre: Action, fantasy, legal, mystery
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: Lee Jun-ki is baaaaaack! And actually, I like the sound of this drama because it gives a fantastic twist on a familiar setup: Lee Jun-ki as a prosecutor seeking to bring down the Big Bad. Except he dies in the process. And then he’s given a redo, and lives his life again from 15 years in the past in order to deliver justice — and hopefully save his own life in the process. This has every reason to be a wild ride, so don’t disappoint me, Show!

My Liberation Notes

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: JTBC
Genre: Drama, slice-of-life, family
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: A new dose of thoughtful melancholy from the writer of My Ajusshi? Sold! They didn’t even need to mention one of my favorite kinds of stories — stories about siblings — to get me hooked. My Liberation Notes stars Lee Min-ki, Kim Ji-won, and Lee El as siblings who are stuck in a rut in their lives and searching for something better. Between the ennui, relatability, and Sohn Seok-gu as the mysterious stranger that arrives on the scene, they don’t have to do anything else to sell this drama to me.

Our Blues

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Drama, slice-of-life, family
Episode count: 20

Reasons to watch: I don’t know what’s more overwhelming about this omnibus drama: the episode count or the impressive ensemble cast (uh, Lee Byung-heon, Shin Mina, Cha Seung-won, Han Ji-min, Kim Woo-bin, Lee Jung-eun and Uhm Jung-hwa). Either way, it looks like we’re in for quite a drama. The promo materials have set a rather serious tone for the show, but I’m hoping there will be equal doses of heart-warming moments and romance. God knows the cast is good enough to pull off all of these things, so I’ll be looking forward to what writer Noh Hee-kyung has planned.

I'm in a sad mood after the disappointing endings of Twenty-Five Twenty-One and Business Proposal, so I'm going to watch Our Blues and My Liberation Notes and be sadder.

I expected to be disappointed because Twenty-Five Twenty-One and Business Proposal were ending, not because OF their endings.

I will follow you, beanie, in order to find out 😅🙄😅🙄😅🙄😅👍👌😝

I admire your courage. I've decided to just watch Healer over and over again, pausing on the scenes where he is huddled in his nifty modernist loft apartment with the fully equipped kitchen, high tech electronics, and excercise equipment for practicing his flying kicks and what-not.

Good call! I'm watching Healer for the first time right now! It's taking some of the sting out of the ending of Business Proposal.

Looking forward to My Liberation Notes. There's something reassuring about knowing it's going to be in a minor key instead of expecting something upbeat and fun and being cruelly disappointed.

@panshel: Not to steal your thunder but me too. I feel like a boulder is sitting on my chest. Makes me wonder why is my brain so intent on making life hard.
I’m sending you a virtual hug. Please try and not be too sad. Nothing good comes of it. Trust me.

Exciting dramas ahead! My Liberation Notes looks especially promising.
As much as I really like all the actors for Our Blues, looking at the group photo I think all but Lee Jung-eun should change their stylists. Woo-bin's suit is so much too short in the wrong places, it really breaks my heart.

How to get over an ending of an awesome drama?? Watch another set of new dramas. And the cycle repeats!

I'll be watching all three but I'm most excited about Again My Life because I'm craving more action and humour and less introspection and life lessons. Give me a masala kdrama please!

Fingers crossed that Our Blues lifts spirits and does not end up giving me the blues. 🤞

I'm really looking forward to My Liberation Diary and Our Blues, especially Our Blues because I love Noh Hee-kyung's writing and am really hoping the omnibus style works out. I'll try Again My Life too but the plot doesn't interest me that much.

Super excited to start these three new dramas - especially after certain recent dramas fumbled the landing. The actors in these dramas… there’s no way I’m missing these. Not to mention writers Park Hae-young and Noh Hee-kyung. This is gonna be incredible.

Although I admit I am a bit conflicted about Again My Life because of Lee Kyung-young. But it’s hard to resist Lee Joon-gi and Kim Jae-kyung back on my screen. I really hope his screentime is reduced as much as possible.

I'm the most excited for My Liberation Notes. I like the ambiance of the trailer.

Our Blues looks good but there are so many actors. I wonder if I will be able to focus on so many different stories and will they be developed during the 20 episodes or 1-2 episodes focused on each character.

I'm not interested by Again My Life, not really a fan of the actress in The Veil. But I will try by curiosity for LJK.

It's high time LJK gets a rom com. If his past works and variety appearances tell anything, he'd ace the genre. Alas, he seems to be sticking with law/crime dramas after he bid action and sageuk farewell.
For the other two I'm surely NOT excited. I won't be because everything I was excited for had let me down (staring at you 39).

Wow, i would like to watch them all😅😅😅
First time in long time.

Actually I am about to do a rewatch of "Entertainer", with my sister and my therapist (both are in different countries, so we watch each one separate and then we comment), but if I make the time, I may be able to watch one of these...
Because of My Ajusshi wins "my liberation notes".

Like @missvictrix said: Don't disappoint me, show.

Tapping my foot impatiently for My Liberation Notes. The writer can pen down something like Beavis and Butthead and I will still watch it.

Lee Joonki and crime drama. Sold!

Our Blues. I don’t know. I’m still feeling a bit traumatic with 39, so I’m keeping zero expectation.

The weekends will be busy~!! Definitely watching Lee Jun Ki in Again My Life. Was gonna try his drama no matter the genre, but I wish he would do rom-coms again.

Dang, I meant to watch My Ajussshi before My Liberation Notes came around. Wonder if I can manage both... Doubt it. Been live-watching a whole lot more lately. XD

Glad to see these new dramas in the recap section btw!

I’m ready! Time to turn the page. I’m most excited about Our Blues. I want to see what’s up with Lee Jung Eun and Cha Seung Won. I like stories about people in midlife running into their first love. (Disclaimer: unless they make 25-21 Season 2. Don’t think I could ever watch that! 👎🏼💔) But I’m also looking forward to Again My Life (LJK!) and My Liberation Notes.

Checking out all 3, but most excited for My Liberation Notes. The cast and the writer both speak to me in that one. Our Blues has a stacked cast too, but I’m a little hesitant on that one…though I can’t place exactly why.

Again My Life is pretty much standard Lee Jun-Ki at this point and there’s nothing really wrong with that. I’d love to see him in a rom com, but he’s so good in these roles that even when he’s not in an amazing show, I end up watching it.

Woo Bin's suit is indeed dreadful. For fabulous suits, see Vincenzo! Woo-bin's sleeves, trouser legs and jacket length are all wrong. LBH's is much better. But it's a great cast, look forward to this one!

And please can we have some happy dramas - 39 and 21/25 were completely depressing and then BP ended and Mondays are just not the same! I think the problem with BP is that it needed one more Episode, they just crammed too much in at the end. I found myself watching the time to see if our hero was going to get back from the USA...... I wanted one wedding AT LEAST, I wanted Grandpa and Hari to go fishing together, I wanted a party in the chicken restaurant. Both the couples were so charismatic it put a smile on my face whenever either of them was on screen. Incidentally, and it's just a small thing. but how far is it from Korea to the USA? Could't our hero have popped back for the odd weekend if money wasn't an issue, he didn't have to stay glued to Grandpa's side? And why is the period always "One Year Later". I guess it was continuing the trope theme. Another occasion when disbelief needs to be suspended!

I wish Noh Hee-kyung wasn't catering to the A-listers. There are so many lesser-known talents out there that could use a boost in their career with her reputation as a writer.

I'm excited to see Sohn Seok-gu and Lee Jun-ki again.

I like the vibe of ‘Our Blues’. Really liked the young actors playing our bank manager and fish monger/entrepreneurs. I wanted to see a whole episode with them.
Woobie was so restrained as though he was conserving his anarchic acting energy. Let it rip.

Can't wait for Our Blues! Hoping it will be another Dear My Friends - considering the casts are an ensemble and are as legendary!!
