Crazy Love: Episodes 11-12

One of my favorite things about Crazy Love is its penchant for trapping its characters in their own webs of trickery to humorous – and occasionally heartfelt – effect. Despite willful deception, misunderstandings, and their own denseness, all those tangled threads somehow serve to pull our couple closer together instead of forcing them apart.

EPISODES 11-12 WEECAP

Upon reading Shin-ah’s diary, Go-jin races to find her. He does indeed believe she’s dying, but he also sees himself through her eyes, from being a horrible trial she had to endure while trying to reach her dream to being the supposed source of her illness, and then finally how she came to forgive him. It completely breaks his heart, and overcome with guilt and a painful awareness of the time slipping away, he asks to date her.

Shin-ah, having no idea about any of this, turns him down, and also refuses to return to work. Go-jin is undeterred; throughout the course of an entire episode, he keeps asking every chance he gets, almost like a little kid asking, “Are we there yet?

Meanwhile, there’s an interesting dynamic going on between Go-jin and Se-gi, where Se-gi is working behind the scenes to create animosity against Go-jin, but it keeps helping Go-jin in little unexpected ways instead.

For example, he brings in an audit team to “investigate” the study guide leak in Go-jin’s name. Eun-jung, terrified that her involvement will be found out, leads the workers in a strike to demand an apology… which Go-jin gives, on the condition they convince Shin-ah to come back to work. If we’re keeping score, that’s two points for Go-jin – Shin-ah coming back and satisfied workers – and not quite the result Se-gi was hoping for.

But that’s not all Se-gi’s up to. His ultimate goal seems to be to force Go-jin out of the company, and to do this, he starts racking up favors by “helping” people around Go-jin. Then he drops little hints about the amnesia to a few choice shareholders and schedules an official meeting to discuss having Go-jin step down (for his own good and the good of the company, of course).

I’m not totally sure why Se-gi wants Go-jin out, but it seems to have something to do with his elderly father who no longer recognizes him, instead asking for Se-gi’s sister. And judging from the way Se-gi has to gather his composure in the staircase after, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that said sister isn’t alive anymore.

One of Se-gi’s alliances is with Soo-young, carefully but purposely leading her to the conclusion that Shin-ah has been manipulating Go-jin all along and is only pretending to be his fiancée. Which technically isn’t all that untrue. But it also gives Soo-young license to manipulate Shin-ah in return, acting like a friend to her face and offering her a coveted instructor position if she’ll leave GoTop, while sneering at Shin-ah behind her back and scheming ways to keep her away from Go-jin.

Speaking of Soo-young, I really wanted to like her, but I just can’t. Yes, she believes Go-jin has amnesia, is being taken advantage of, and might love her again once he regains his memories. But she also acts like she’s entitled to his affections just because it’s what she wants – like he’s the one at fault for not somehow knowing she was forced into giving him up.

But Soo-young finally guesses the truth about his “amnesia” near the end of this week’s episodes, so I suppose the real test of her character will be what she does with that realization. Will she accept that Go-jin has moved on, or will she double down on her efforts to win him back?

Now that that’s out of the way, the real focus of this week is about Go-jin’s efforts to win Shin-ah’s affections. There are a few missteps – such as when he bars her from the upcoming instructor audition and flat-out tells her she’s not talented enough – but ultimately, he gets through to her with sincerity.

After admitting that what he’s really worried about is her leaving his side, he openly confesses that he likes her. Then he leans in for a kiss, promising that this one really will be only three seconds. But it lasts quite a bit longer (I counted), because Shin-ah’s the one who goes right back in for more.

Now that they’re officially dating for real, they’re adorably happy and playful together, and able to turn on a dime from sweet and heartfelt to hilarious and right back again. Like when Go-jin tries to deter Shin-ah from pursuing the instructor position by telling her honestly that he’s afraid she’ll be hurt because students want a technician not a teacher… and then launches into a speech about not caring himself because he just wants to help kids any way he can, inspiring her more than ever.

Or when dishwashing shenanigans turn into an impromptu game of tag and then cuddling on the couch, where Go-jin vows softly never to let her go. He means the cancer, of course, and though Shin-ah doesn’t know it, he spends every spare second researching for any hope of a cure and looking after her health as best as he can.

That translates to serving her healthy meals in the cafeteria, carrying things for her, disinfecting her house, and generally ordering everyone to take as much work off her shoulders as possible. To her mortification, this only serves to make the other instructors think she’s pregnant.

Eventually, enough is enough, and Shin-ah asks outright what’s going on. Hesitantly, Go-jin confesses that he read her diary. Shin-ah tries to explain, but he just thinks she’s trying to be strong on her own, so in the end, she has to drag him to the doctor to hear for himself that it was a misdiagnosis.

Predictably, Go-jin angrily storms out of the room. But just when Shin-ah starts to think he never loved her, only pitied her, he comes rushing back in to grab her in a desperate hug. Tearfully, he explains how terrified he was of losing her, and how he was prepared to drop everything and do whatever it took to find her a cure. Touched and relieved, Shin-ah comforts him with a soft kiss. And then, finally, they’re both able to enjoy the relationship without fear.

It’s a good thing these two are finally on the same page, because – much as it seems Go-jin has the upper hand with Se-gi still convinced he has amnesia – I have a feeling they’re in for a fight, and will need each other’s support more than ever before.

But I’m also feeling pretty confident, because even when they hated each other’s guts, it was obvious that as long as they’re working as a team, they’re pretty much unstoppable.

These two episodes made my heart flutter so much. That hot kiss was one of the best in kdrama.

I love how the misdiagnosis misunderstanding was resolved within minutes. Really got my emotions going when Go-Jin was telling Shin-ah how worried he was. Shin-ah now knows how sincere Go Jin is and honestly at this point, I don't think anything can break them apart. BSY pretty much has no chance in wrecking their relationship. Their date was so cute. KJu' hair style looks sooo good, shed like 10 years off lol...

I need to know why Segi is doing this; I really hope it's some misunderstanding. Now that GoJin has his love life settled, I hope he focuses on dealing with Segi.

Secretary Jo is still very sus. I wonder what's his history.. CEO Park seems to recognize him from somewhere.

With four episodes left and still so many things to resolve plus romance and happy ending, I'm really looking forward to the next two weeks. I love how this drama keeps getting better and continues to be interesting and engaging. Most dramas start to get bored at this point. I hope CL keeps it up and end on a high note!

I have a feeling that Secretary Jo was the one that was dressed as a waiter and spiked the champagne at the still inexplicable education event, that was intended for Go jin.

Why he did it, I am of the theory that he did it to make Soo young happy. I just don't see it as a romantic gesture, just as one of an employee.

Wanted to add that I hope Shin-ah finds out about the murder threats and Segi; I need this couple to work together to fend off the villains. And I hope they do something crazy about it 😊😊

Shin-ah is one of the unclueless siblings I've encountered on dramaland.
While I definitely would have blown out were I a parent, I loved how her father took in the Shin-ah in the room with Go-jin situation. I don't think I would have pulled it with that kind of sincere composure. Then the Father - Son-in-law bonding afterwards was the perfect icing on the cake.
Professionally, it seems like Gojin is warming into the hearts of the staff, they might not be able to save him from doom, but they wouldn't rejoice either. And talking about the staff, the quartet gossipers are a look forward to every week. The quartet do not seem like filler arcs and that is a plus to the writer and director. I really thought the shock from the misunderstanding would last more than one episode, it was a breathe of fresh air it took just a few seconds of blowing off steam. And it was fun seeing Go-jin being decieved by Shin-ah's health, however without her cognizance.

Talking about Segi's angst, most likely something happened after he met Go-jin. Unrequited love that led to an accident? Or an unintended, innocent casualty?

I love love loved these last two episodes. So much sweet and swoon from both of them.

That ladder kiss was HOT and that little playful moment they had chasing each other was so so adorable. I love how it was contrasted with their initial fighting and hair pulling to playful cute banter.

I just loved how everything played out with the revelation of shin Ah’s misdiagnosis. It was both hilarious and touching. Now all that’s left is to take down the evil second leads. I really hope Go Jin confides with Shin Ah about Segi so it’ll be two against two with soo young included.

finally catching up on this drama. i have low expectations but this drama getting better and better. i really love the built-up in our main leads characters. i hate segi and sooyoung. i feel like both of them are selfish. idk whatever Segi misunderstood Gojin and why he choose to ruin the only thing Gojin's have atm, almost kill him, manipulate every people around Gojin i wont be able to sympathize with him.
Sooyoung is even more oblivious. she chooses to not tell him about her father, making him believe its others' fault and hurt him. but now after he finally moved on and love someone else she wants him back lmaoo the audacity.
i wish in the next eps Gojin tell Sina about Segi (and his stalker) and Sooyoung. i kinda feel bad because she knows nothing. and im afraid Segi is doing something to her.

My theory at the beginning was that Se gi was looking to get rid of the Go jin because he had a gambling debt and he and Kang were gambling buddies.

Now I believe he did it for medical expenses for his father. Which seems unnecessary. For all of Go jin faults, he always had a soft spot for Se gi and would have given him any and all monies that he needed.

Then we see that Se gi's lifestyle is comfortable and on par with being a COO for a successful company and now I am eliminating these two theories.

So, it could very well just be spite and he thought that he was the rightful CEO and Go jin should have only been an instructor.

Initially I also thought that Se-gi just thought he deserved to be CEO because of all he had done but recently we have seen him say things like "I'll make you fall from an even higher place" which sounds more vendetta-driven.

I think it has something to do with his sister that Se-gi's father mentioned. I'd guess the woman who bumped into Shin-a in the last episode is the sister (I think it was played by Lee Sang Hee?). At a guess something happened to the sister, which affected the father and so now Se-gi is taking revenge for both.

And I still think Soo-young's secretary is the one planning the Go-jin's murder.

*lightbulb turns on*

What if Se gi's sister is the one that is the stalker and sending him all those threatening gifts and letters. She expressed her feelings and got rejected, or he got with Soo young and never lookd back and she had a breakdown and there was nothing Se gi could do about it.

Could she and Secretary Jo possibly know one another and are plotting together?

Possibly! I like that there are multiple possibilities and enough threads left open so that we don't lose interest in the story.

I really like the positive changes to Go Jin these last two episodes. He has learned to open up and accept his feelings. He has all the right intentions but the execution still need work on some areas. As for Shin Ah, I am happy that she is no longer depressed and setting her sights on furthering her career. She may still be clueless in some areas but hopefully she will not be kept in the dark too long. She can be oblivious and naive, like how she only found out her bff and brother's relationship through GJ. She needs to know the duplicity of the Segi and SooYoung. So I want GJ to clue her in soon.

I like that there is a common thread in the storytelling. Shin Ah started the series liking Segi and Soo Young since they seem to be good people. But as the episodes progressed, we are seeing more and more on how opposite their true natures are. While GoJin turned from worst first impressions to liking him somewhat.
Which got me wondering who else can have the similar storyline - Ilpum's Mr Park, is my best guess, and ex- secretaries are a possibility as well. I would like to see either help Go Jin and Shin Ah takedown Segi, SooYoung and whoever else is out to hurt GJ.

I'm hoping Ms. Ma is one of them, since she had an encounter with the private investigator... There must be more to that scene than just for comedy?

Possibly. They need ppl to turn from the other side. She is in the best position to bare witness to SeGi's machinations.

The ladder kiss was so much better than their first one.

I like that Shin Ah was more confident and firm in front of Go Jin. He has improved, but he still has his demanding, stubborn ways. I chuckled when he wanted their dating to officially start after that big kiss, but Shin Ah's deliberate answer was the next day.

While Se Gi (& Soo Young) are still annoying the heck out of me, I don't think they are behind the attempts to physically harm Go Jin. Maybe her secretary? He's been a suspect. However, now a new, mysterious female character has appeared. The one behind the light collapse incident also looked like a female figure.

Based on what was shown so far, I'm not interested in Se Gi's story or reason for his betrayal.

I really like Shin Ah's & Ok Hee's place btw. Before & after the fresh transformation. The deco & furniture all looked cozy and cute.

This show has settled into a great rhythm--I love that it keeps getting better over time. The humor is clicking, the leads' chemistry is great (ladder kiss! so good!), and I love the playful, let's-not-take-things-too-seriously undercurrent makes for an easy watch. I'm not sure about the central mystery but I'm also not thinking very hard about it. Finally, I really enjoy Shin-ah's dad and Go-jin's scenes with him.

n Ep 11: The ladder scene: I loved how emotionally vulnerabale NGJ was when he explained his reason(s) on the 'why' he opposed for Sin-ah's audition. He was transparent. I considered how many couples do go through these types of reasons why they support or oppose something.
I felt like a spectator and trusted them (as a couple) to make the right decision for them--whether I agree or disagree was not a consideration. My emotional reaction on this topic & scene surprised ME to be honest.😌
