Drama viewership ratings for the week of Jan. 17-23, 2022

This week in drama ratings land, our Wednesday-Thursday slot is so quiet you could hear a pin drop, and Channel A’s Show Window: Queen’s House ended on a huge bang (yay, underdogs!). Weekend continues to be the place to be — with Tracer and Through the Darkness picking up good steam — but all the numbers are set to change in a few weeks when we get a flood of new premieres.

YOUNG LADY AND GENTLEMAN continues to do well.

I heard about the problem with KING OF TEARS. It actually made me angry. Can this show go on?

To me, that was something worth cancellation. It's not only that it happened but KBS's response to it.

I think it's important to know what happened and why. It's an usual stunt in sageuks. So is it too dangerous? Or did they screw up and then there are so many reasons : they didn't have time to prepare, they didn't the money to prepare properly, they had time but weren't professional, they didn't use a experienced horse, etc.
They need to give proper answers to prevent this from happening again.

No experienced horse could be saved with the totally unprofessional practice that borders beyond cruelty. The video of what they actually did to the horse is too disturbing to watch.

They need to stop needlessly doing dangerous stunts that put both horse and rider at risk and instead use the magic of film and either cut the scene so it looks like there’s a fall without actually making them fall, or using CGI.

It’s the same BS that happened in Hollywood when a woman got shot on set. Putting lives in danger for a little make believe is completely unacceptable.

Amen. What really made me angry is that this could not have been an ignorant mistake. From the description of the incident this appeared to be similar to something that happened before in a US film. Accidents happen but this was simply reckless and stupid.

What made me angrier was that has been a very high quality show up to this point. It only goes to show that you can find idiots anywhere.

The incident that you mentioned on set was probably even stupider than this, although, as I said, this incident (I refuse to just call it an accident when it is a known danger) is incredibly stupid.

The horse certainly didn't sign up for that dangerous scene. I began to really think about how humans involve animals in their misguided adventures, when I watched, "The Thin Red Line." That movie showed how animals have always paid a price during wars, without their consent, because of human's disregard for all living things. As an avid student of WWII, I've discovered the amount of animals that went extinct due to that war. Shame!

Clearly they are Not professional. There are quite a few very well known horse cascadeurs / companies, who do things safely for the horse who is a king-time respected partner. I’ve watched several reports on that topic in the past… What happened here was not a cascade but animal mistreatment, by greedy and lazy people, who clearly did not budget/invest and took the most cruel shortcut to reach their goal. Not that it does not also happen with people… who take unjustified risks … when IA could easily take over too…

CGI could certainly substitute in these scenes. CGI has come a very long way- it no doubt would have to be a very high quality CGI but I am sure it could be done.

I refuse to watch this show no matter despite everything. From the explanation of the incident, this is utterly unforgivable to me.

Is Artificial City extremely boring makjang or is it because it's on jtbc? Makjang never gets such low ratings. Even Mine got 10% and that was a snooze fest.

10% on Channel A should be equivalent to 20% right? Proud to see smaller channels like TV Chosun, Channel A and MBN giving stiff competition to the popular channels.

Show Window deserved its ratings. It had a good plot and solid acting with a lot of twists and turns.

It’s great to see smaller channels like TV Chosun and Channel A doing so well in ratings. I can’t comment on Show Window: Queen’s House, but what I’ve seen of Uncle has been very deserving of the high ratings, quality-wise.

Tracer and Through the Darkness are already strong dramas and I hope both shows hit double-digits in ratings soon. It’s the least they should get before going into the dreaded Olympics pre-emption.
