Lee Seol confirmed for new drama alongside Cha Seung-won and Kim Soo-hyun

More casting news has been announced for upcoming murder-mystery One Ordinary Day (previously known as That Night), with Lee Seol (When the Devil Calls Your Name) now joining Cha Seung-won (Hwayugi) and Kim Soo-hyun (It’s Okay to Not Be Okay) in the main cast.

As a remake of BBC’s original Criminal Justice, the drama’s conflict stems from a mysterious and high-profile murder case with clues pointing to Kim Soo-hyun as the main suspect. There’s not much known about Cha Seung-won’s role, but both he and Kim become entangled in the investigation proceedings. And, as the story unfolds, the drama will dig deep into Korea’s criminal justice system through the eyes of the characters.

Similarly, not much was released yet about the role Lee Seol will be playing. The character is simply described as a lawyer who comes from a famous law firm and somehow gets involved in the murder investigations.

Writing for the drama is Kwon Soon-kyu (Jackpot, Warrior Baek Dong-soo) and directing will be helmed by PD Lee Myung-woo (Backstreet Rookie, Fiery Priest).

The production team confirmed that One Ordinary Day recently started filming and is being planned to have 8 episodes. The premiere is currently set for later this year in November. In Korea, this will be available on Coupang Play, a new streaming service launched by the e-commerce giant Coupang.

This writer is so frustrating. I have a like/dislike relationship with him.
I watched 3 of his dramas and he started out promising then miss the landing towards the end on 2. One was a complete bore fest but he seems to score talented actors every time.
Maybe it's just me.

I hope he'd do better in a modern drama.

Yes, have to admit I'm a mix of nervous and curious. I remember watching Criminal Justice and it being profoundly shocking - it gave insights into the justice system and prison life in the UK which brought you to the edge of despair. Ben Whishaw blew me away with his portrayal of the main character. So what kind of adaption are they going to do here? The topic, the writer and the PD suggest that we're going to end up somewhere profoundly different.

8 episodes, hmmmm, I've never seen anything from the writer, but I LOVE Kim Soo Hyun, so I'll watch it.

I started The Night Of, the American version, and dropped it after 2 or 3 episodes. I didn't watch the original version. So if I like the actors, I'm not specially excited by the story.

What little I've seen from them has been so-so-ish. But looking forward to seeing Lee Seol again.

I adore Kim Soo hyun, but I will pass this one. Again a criminal drama?? With corrupted lawyers, judges, ministers, etc?
I know, of course, not every single kdrama has to be a family drama, or a rom com, or a comedy, or a school drama, or a working setting drama, so that I can be happy (I wouldn't have the time to watch them all anyways), but I wish at least they would be more creative and introduce new settings: an attraction park, vacations (which is something Koreans seem to never take), animals, museums, art, crafty things like the Chinese do...
Anyway... I pass.

I still remember the Gorilla, I continued to watch because I thought that could not possibly be the only funny scene, but alas it was and I dropped it later on (a mistake, should have dropped sooner.😂😂

OMG, the gorilla that was just the beginning of the awfulness. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite “worst”, it’s either when they zip lined and it was so obvious they weren’t really doing it because gravity no effect on them...but maybe it’s when they jumped off the building into the reflecting pool that was somehow deep enough for them to have ample room to survive. Boy, I love HB but I still can’t watch that actress in anything 🤨

Oh, you should, she was excellent in "the light in your eyes" and "familiar wife" the former being truly one of the best dramas I saw in 2019. That was one of Ha Ji Min's more unfortunate drama choices. Lol

What about an abandoned amusement park? :P Yongma Land is a ripe location for the picking ;)

Don't know enough about the writer and the production team to weigh in, but I am very heartened to see that it is planned be EIGHT episodes. Let's hope this shorter length drama model sweeps the Kdrama world taking with it angsty episodes, padded plots and bumbled conclusions.

There has been a significant uptick in 12 episode or less shows from the beginning of last year onwards, something I have been wishing for for years- I also hope it continues. For the sake of my sanity more than anything 😂
