JTBC’s latest drama Monthly House has confirmed its two leads: Jung So-min (Soul Repairer) and Kim Ji-suk (My Unfamiliar Family). It’s described as a romance between a man buys houses and a woman who lives in them. In Korea, housing is one of the top issues that most people are concerned by, and this drama strives to tackle what the meaning and value of “home” are.

Jung So-min’s character is an editor for a magazine called Monthly House. She’s been an ordinary worker in the workforce for ten years, but she’s been unable to accumulate any nest egg because she’s had to contend with spending most of her income to pay her monthly rent. To her, “home” means a place where she can truly be herself and let out all her emotions. Therefore, even though she lives in a rental property, she decorates and cleans as if the home is her own.

One day, her landlord becomes Kim Ji-suk, who is her devil-like boss, and so begins her dreams of owning her own property. Kim Ji-suk’s character is the CEO of Monthly House, and he views houses as assets that will rise in value or as places to briefly rest. Because he believed that in Korea the only way to get rich was real estate, he studied real estate during the day, was a waiter at a restaurant at night, decreased his sleep, and worked at a construction site on weekends to earn enough money to begin buying property. He used those earnings to became a successful entrepreneur and real estate investor.

Monthly House, written by Myung Soo-hyun (Drinking Solo) and directed by Lee Chang-min (Welcome to Waikiki), will begin airing on JTBC in the beginning half of 2021.

I don't see much that is inviting in the humdrum premise but I find the two leads are likable as can be, and the character description for Kim Ji-Suk seems tailored for him.

I will forget Soul Repairer that I dropped because I really like Jung So-Min. Kim Ji-Suk has a good eye for great dramas as a lead or second lead. My Unfamiliar Family was really great and he was perfect in this role.

So I will definitely watch it.

This is an unexpected pair but like both of them so hope it will be a nice suprise...Guess his dreams did came true even if i rolled eyes a bit as i doubt in reality he could put that much money aside to buy or invest...

Oh I love everything here! The CEO who wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth and worked hard to succeed is what I need to see. And my dear So Min’s character, the editor, reminds me of Ji Ho when she was in charge of PPLs😂 nothing in common but I can’t stop thinking about those scenes. They were epic!
I haven’t watched Drinking Solo but I plan to and WtW’s PD?! GOOD!

It has Jung So-min, one of my favorite actresses, so I have to try it. The problem with SOUL REPAIRER was entirely in its writing.

Kim Ji-suk was great in MY UNFAMILIAR FAMILY.

I really loved Kim Ji-seok in his past projects. I agree with one above comment that he has really good eyes for good projects despite the fact that he was a lead or a second lead.

I'm looking forward to this one. Together with Kang Ha-neul (who shone in even a supporting role like the one he took in Misaeng), Lee Jae-wook (also shone brightly in his supporting role in Weather), I am looking forward to Kim Ji-seok's future projects.

I smell a "because this life is our first"-air!
And I don't feel happy Kim Ji suk being "devilish"...
But this is such a good partnership!
I like it...
I hope I can watch 😄
