New character stills for Nam Joo-hyuk, Jung Yumi Netflix drama The School Nurse Files
by tineybeanie
Supernatural comedy series The School Nurse Files, starring Nam Joo-hyuk (The Light in Your Eyes) and Jung Yumi (Live), has released some new promo stills. Jung Yumi plays a quirky school nurse with the special ability to see paranormal creatures and spirits, which appear as “jellies,” and Nam Joo-hyuk plays a Chinese literature teacher whose extraordinary chi helps Jung Yumi recharge her energy.
Originally based on a novel by the same name, The School Nurse File is about how Jung Yumi’s character, seemingly an ordinary school nurse, turns into a warrior who fights supernatural jellies only she can see. She’s joined by Nam Joo-hyuk’s character who is also a teacher and coincidentally the grandson of the school’s founder. Although he seems aloof, he’s actually very sincere and full of curiosity. Following Jung Yumi, he enters the school basement and accidentally unseals a Pandora’s Box–it’s a portal for jellies that begin to overrun the school and threaten the safety of its students.
In one of the stills below, Jung Yumi is shown with shelves full of colorful items that look like toys behind her, but secretly they’re talismans that help her regain energy. (The plastic sword she’s wielding is one of her weapons in fighting the bad and weird.) Fortunately, this quirky but strong warrior doesn’t have to solely rely on these amulets too long. She soon discovers that Nam Joo-hyuk and his beautifully pure aura gives her an instantaneous power-up when fighting jellies. And so the story begins to take shape as these two team up to protect their school against supernatural forces.
Netflix drama The School Nurse Files, directed by Lee Kyung-mi and written by Jung Se-rang, will begin airing on September 25.

The director of this show is Lee Kyoung-mi, who not only made the two brilliant, sui-generis movies Crush and Blush and The Truth Beneath, but also got career-best performances from Gong Hyo-jin and Son Ye-jin. Really looking forward to this, and to her first collaboration with yet another great actress, Jung Yu-mi.

It just dawned on me that Nam Joo Hyuk will be/is in 2 Netflix dramas quite close together in time— this one and the other one with Suzy & Kang Hanna (Yay!!!! “Moon Lovers” reunion 🥺🥺🥺), “The Start-Up”

Nam Joo-hyuk is one busy guy these days. Good for him. I like him so I'll check out this show. I like the premise of this one better than the Silicon Valley one. Hopefully, this one will be as quirky as it sounds.
